The Master Blaster wrote:So after all the effort put in to make the movie characters as realistic as possible, they think alt modes that are basically rocks are really realistic for an advanced alien race?
Again, FAIL.
Phenotype wrote:ROFL! This thread is funny. C'mon guys! Some of you are getting very confused here. Protoform Prime's alt. mode as depicted in the movie and action figure is NOT his Cybertronian vehicle mode. I thought everyone knew that but apparently not. His Cybertronian vehicle mode is never shown, the alt. mode shown is just the mode he uses to enter Earth's atmosphere. The writes made that very clear in several interviews. The whole point is that they can reconfigure themselves at will, we saw Frenzy do this quite a bit. The best way to get through the atmosphere is in the shape of a comet so they change their shapes to match a comet, but rest assured those are not their main vehicle modes. Megatron didn't need to change forms because he was already an interstellar jet, but Prime wasn't.
lanzajr26 wrote:It's his PROTOFORM. It's not meant to have any specific mode or shape, it's only function is to serve until he can find a new alt mode. What his robot mode looks like as a protoform is not what he would look like on Cybertron with a different alt mode.
Raymond101 wrote:Don't get me wrong, I think Protoform Prime's robot sperm mode is poorly designed too, but I love his robot mode so much I would recommend his figure just for the robot mode for display. I think this is the robot mode he used on Cybertron - although he would definitely have used a different vehicle mode.
Raymond101 wrote:Do you like his robot mode at all? (just curious)
I can understand that people who hark back from G1 will probably dislike the almost organic, very foreign original look of this Prime. I don't seek to change their opinions. I just never though he would be hated so.![]()
To me, he is not as dazzling as Cybertron Prime in super mode (which is an awesome mode), gives no nostalgia like MP Prime, nor has as much play value as Energon Prime.
In terms of originality, though, I'd rack up some points to him.
i_amtrunks wrote:The protoform was a very good indication of what the Movie line will be remembered as: decent interpretations of the "alien" movie designs, with horrible paint apps.
I personally feel much of the hate of the figure does lean towards the alt mode, and as we all know, to be a good transformers figure, you really need to have (at least) 2 decent modes.
ironhide001 wrote:I am talking about bot mode. The bot mode IS his cybertronian mode, based on what is seen in the prequel comic.
Regarding Alt mode, we all know it is something to enter atmosphere.
