IDW Transformers Spotlight Optimus Prime: Monstructor vs Omega Supreme

Postby Galaxion » Sat Sep 01, 2007 1:19 am

Is it just me or did Omega Supreme seem to refuse to fight back when Monstructor attacked him. I mean Monstructor was trashing Omega pretty good and Omega didn't seem like he was attempting to fight back.
It seemed a little far fetched that Monstructor could trash Omega Supreme that good when traditionally Omega was always superior to a gestalt and it would take at least 3 gestalt at once to take Omega supreme down.
Omega is bigger and more powerfull than the gestalts in my opinion there should of been no way for Monstructor to trash Omega so easily my question is why did Omega seem to refuse to fight back and run instead.

Weapon: Particle Beam Cannon
Monstructor can drain the energy out of anything around him, hence why he absorbed Prime's energyblast.

And Omega probably had low energy levels before the fight even started (hence why he was hooked up to that chair).

The IDW Furmanverse does not play to either animated G1, Marvel G1 or even DW rules. So in the IDW Furmanverse Omega may no longer be the powerhouse he has been in other versions.

I think the fact that Omega is more or less a "senior" Transformer probably played a part in his thrashing.

I'd like to know why Omega was so well hidden, it may well be purely to hide from Monstructor, but I'd hope it would be for something a little more.

Big SPOILER warning would have been nice in the title. Hence why I skimmed over tigertracks 24's thread.

"Something of a last resort. Omega Supreme wields energies beyond measure."

This is what Prime is thinking when Monstructor attacks. Power levels arent an issue with OS

*** SPOILERS ***

Looking at the fight I think Omega Supreme just caught a butt whoopin'. When Monstructor bursts in he dodges OS's arm cannon, rips it off and then throws him on his back. Im sure this at very least stuns OS. Then Monstructor slam a shuttle right on top of him.

That's a beat down.

Judging by the dire warning OS gives Prime about Gestalt technology Combiners may be a more powerful force in the IDWverse than in past incarnations.

im with stormwolf. monstructors death field FTW.

doenst matter how powerful you are if your enemy can use it against you plus i reckon the whole reason omega was in that nebula was to be close to a major powersource. megatron mentioned in escalation that they were getting by on energon derivatives so odds are the artifical astroid was soaking up the nebulas radiation and funneling it into omega whos massive power requirements would necessitate it.

Thanks for the reminder, I had forgotten all about that.

Good point Stormwolf I had forgotten that was one of Monstructors powers to be able to drain energy from any opponent. Explains alot.

Weapon: Twin Independent Mounted Disruptor Rays
I was glad to see Monstructor as when I saw him I had to think for a second. Has Monstructor made an appearance in any other comic-verse? I can't recall but I haven't read every issue either.

The Monster Pretenders were seen in one Marvel story: Rhythms of Darkness (US #67 / UK #298-299) - they appeared on an alternate future Earth where Galvatron had basically won the war. Other than their obvious inclusion in Dreamwave's MTMTE, that's their only main line comic appearance AFAIK.

They apparently also appeared in Devil's Due's GI Joe vs TF IV: Black Horizon, but I know nothing about that one.
