It was only a matter of time. There's a lot they can do/tell about the character. I hope they make the best of it.

Ages 25 & Up, comics with ball joints of steel. Updated Mondays.
Classics Prime and Cybertron Armorhide are the Bad Mother Truckers

Are those his fuel tanks used for his quads?
And 100 percent windshield with retarded looking wipers?
Very disappointing pic for a Spotlight comic.

Now the great Debate. Optronix or Orin Pax?
First Gen: I don't think it's ALL fel tank, It looks to me like they pivoted the tank up into his leg so it's not hanging off.

I'm sure I remember reading an interview where it was said that this Prime wouldn't quight be the good old Optimus we know from previous incarnations. I hope this spotlight reveals some shocking dirty secret from his past that makes him stand out from the regular noble good guy prime stereotype. Like maybe rather than inheriting the matrix he took it by force! Maybe he over threw a previous Prime who was a tyrant, or just a really bad leader. Now that would be different.

Like when he ripped it from Sentinel Prime's chest in Marvel? It really happened.
Maybe he sacrifices some Autobots to complete a mission.

True, that would be different and interesting, but I really wouldn't like it too much. I mean, if it’s something like Prime making a mistake and growing older and wiser for it, then I'm down with that. But, if it's something like Prime being an Autobot tyrant or just doing something plain not nice on purpose, then its not really the larger than life character that we've all come to know and love.

I heard about this early last week from Oneshallstand.com. Forgot to post it here. Oh well. I'll buy and enjoy this same as everything else IDW have released in TF.

This is awesome. Between the Kup & galvatron Spotlights & the Megatron Origin, the IDW comics keep getting better. I love them waaaaaay more than I ever loved Dreamwave..........ugh. I knew Prime had to have one sooner or later.............but I can't wait until September!!!!

No I don't mean Prime was a tyrant but that he removed one from power. The Decepticons could even turn out to be the supporters of the defeated dictator who wouldn't accept the new, more nicey nice Autobot regime.

This Prime has already proved he is not the upstanding 'heal all life' like his predecessors. Remember Esc#2? He just stood in the middle of the road, let that truck slam into his leg, then just peered through the window and left, leaving the driver to bleed to death. The other G1 Prime's would probably have taken the driver to a hospital.

I guess you've got a point there. Though, we could speculate a lot here of what went on behind the scenes/after that particular event took place. Though, since it wasn't written, we really can't assume anything. Just leave it to IDW.......

Either way, I prefer Prime to have a darker side to him. In the toon, he was too 'squeaky clean' for my tastes. I prefer characters with an edge, one's you aren't quite sure what they are gonna do next. Perhaps that's why I prefer the cons.

Yeah, a little 'edge' isn't too bad here and there for Prime.

Well as far as we know that guy might have been a facsimily (or however its spelt) or this prime may accept that not every squishy is a good little creature that needs saving from the Decepticons, and sometimes you have to deal with the bad humans just like you would the bad robots.

I don't think you did, per se. Wizard World (and the CBR write-up, presumably) was news on a month ago -- the Megatron mini was announced then too. There wasn't any alt-cover art for the Prime book at the time.
Glad that Don's drawing the interior and the main cover, personally.
