I second the use of DOTM voyager Ironhide - he just scales really well with voyager OP and the deluxe figures, and has the added bonus of an ingenious transformation.

I wonder if there.s repaints in accurate movies colors of DOTM Skids and Mudflap? The ROTF ones are nice and all, but may be too big.

I don't think so, but maybe will see something from Takara's Movie Advanced line? They did do a screen accurate redeco of DOTM Jolt.
The DOTM versions of the twins are pretty screen accurate anyway. The black with orange or green striping was the coloring of the prop vehicles for the characters before they were (almost) completely excised from the film.

Okay, here's another figure for discussion as far as the best "screen accurate" toy available. It's "Red" Rampage, the version of the character that fights Bumblebee near the climax of RotF, instead of the yellow version that forms part of Devastator. Hasbro's all red version for mass release is nice, but not perfect. It has no yellow parts, like some of the gears and pistons that work the front shovel, but it's a lovely shade of red, IMO. Contender two is Takara-Tomy's version, with nice metallic detailing on the shovel, some yellow parts (painted?), and a MUCH darker red plastic for the main body. Finally, we have the "Rampage among the Ruins" version from Hasbro, with a different (seemingly pinkish?) shade of red plastic for most of the body, yellow plastic parts for the shovel hydraulics and some gears, brown plastic/paint for some other details, and some "dirty/sandy" paint details as well. Which is the best choice for movie accuracy? Takara's seems TOO red. Hasbro's regular release doesn't have any yellow parts. Hasbro's three-pack release seems to be an odd shade of pinkish red (at least when photographed). Which one wins? Or am I better off taking the regular release Hasbro red version and swapping in some yellow parts from the yellow Hasbro version?

Considering these two pictures:

I'd say either you take Pinkie, or you take Pinkie and give it's gray and yellow parts plus his head to Hasbred.
Personally, I'd be perfectly content with Pinkie alone. It's the one that is the most Movie accurate.

Re: I'm tempted to rebuild my "Movieverse" collection...

The Takara one is most accurate in vehicle mode, it's the only one with those metal plates like in the movie. But like you said, it's REALLY dark red, and it looks kinda weird in robot mode.
Personally, I'd be happy with Among the Ruins, it's it's kinda pink but otherwise fairly accurate, and it's WAY cheaper than the other two (Takara's an import, and the regular red one was only available in limited quantities). You could probably buy the whole 3-pack set with Bumblebee and Ravage for cheaper than the other two.

I think I'll go for the "Rampage Among the Ruins" version by Hasbro. I've read that it looks a lot less "pink" in person. Must be one of those colors that is a nightmare for photography. It's definitely a good representation of the vehicle mode's color layout, but looking at the movie stills of robot mode, I can't see the big yellow gears anywhere on Rampage's CGI model. So, would the Hasbro single-carded release be the most accurate for robot mode? Ack, that's why I made this thread. There are so many options and so much ambiguity with the movie toys.

You could always buy all 3 then frankenstein yourself the perfect Rampage. It would be a lot of work, and it would cost a lot, but I bet you would be pretty happy with the final result.

You know what? I'm going to go with the Hasbro mass release version. That's the best looking robot mode to my eye. If I want to swap in some more "screen accurate" details for vehicle mode, I'll take them off an extra yellow Rampage.

The Hasbro Rampage may be the best... but the mold in general is pretty darn awful. >:oP

I don't mind it so much. When you have him transformed properly, with everything tabbed in, he stands just fine on four, or even three legs. I'm not going to be able to avoid having the mold in my collection, anyway. He's an on-screen character. Gotta catch 'em all!

Depend of what your cup of tea is. If you prefer a more classic shape, of course any of the ROTF constructicons (appart Long Haul) would never be for you. They have all of that weird monster-like attribute to them.
I really love ROTF Rampage. I have the yellow version and I never tought to transform him in 3 legs mode. I find that mode kinda stupid and incomplete. No, he's all CENTAUR mode. A glorious, monstrous centaur! Also, his transformation is very complex but not frustrating.

I you were rebuilding your collection after prior purging... I don't think the constructions are neseecary.
Honestly apart from Long haul, the rest look pretty goofy.
Cons worth getting IMO:
Some form of barricade (Prominent in the first movie)
Dark Energon Megatron (Best paint for the leader mold IMO)
Shockwave
Blackout
Leader starscream
Especially if you intend to rebuild a focused collection.
Just my 2 cents. Because my movieverse is starting to look rather cluttered.

I want at least all on-screen characters with a toy. Some don't have any, and that's okay, but I won't pass up a character that can be had in toy form. The Constructicons, for better or worse, are a must for me. Plus, I'm ignoring leader class figures for reasons I mentioned earlier in the thread. I've got a pretty good scaling going with using Optimus, Megatron, and Starscream in voyager size and going from there. Obviously, there will be scaling issues regardless, but I'm quite pleased with what I have so far.

Ah, what a perfect afternoon. Not even the thunder storms could dampen my day!
After watching Age of Extinction with my partner, we found (finally!) one each of Voyager Hound and Galvatron at a nearby Wal-Mart, and deluxe Drift at Toys 'R' Us. Deluxe Movie Advanced Crosshairs arrived in the mail today as well. It was a very good Transformers day!
I'm glad I did get back into the movie toys. This latest movie has me excited again about the live action film series, and voyager Hound is an excellent toy, and was my favorite new character of the movie. I like Galavtron too, even though he is a "shellformer" with a flat nose tuck cab for a backpack. He's a very solid feeling figure and looks right at home among the rest of my Decepticon collection of movie characters.
