It seems a lot of people don't know that there are extra indentical Bumblebee Chevy Camaros that can be used if one is totalled. There is already one taking its role for the first one which was totalled this week in Washington DC. Bumblebee won't die in the movie (we think), so don't fret if you're a Bee fan like me.

I think the original thought was since they used the Camaro concept car that they were using it in this movie too. back then. the camar wasn't in production so there were only a couple in existence. this time around since the Camero is I'm full production they based bb on the production version. so it was much easier to have replicas.

Its not really easier, because General Motors has been building these cars custom for the movies since the first movie anyway. Yes, they are making more parts now but they already made extra parts for the TF1 and TF2 Camaros.

these cars are not being custom made by gm.



paramount is either doing the fabrication in house, or hired another company. The only thing GM has done is supplied 1 or 2 ss versions and a few base models that get made to look like the ss.

Same with the topkick truck and the h2 hummer.

Actually, its a hell of alot eaiser for the third movie vs. the first two. When the first movie was made, there were only two Camaro concepts in existance. Mainly because they came at a cost of over $1,000,000 to make. And only one of those were painted yellow (the other was silver). As said, these vehicles were concpets originaly made to tour the country at major car shows to get the publics reaction on a new camaro. They were never intended to be used as movie props. There were no "stunt double" cars avaible. If someone were to wrap one arund a pole, there was no back up readily avaible. Watch the comentary on the DVD for the first movie. they explain all of this.
Now BB that will be staring in the 3rd movie is custom as well, it is at least based on a production chassis. Parts are now readily aviable if needed, and are much easier to get ahold of as well as create if needed since the vehicle has been in circulation for about 2 yr now.
Point being that in the first two movies, there were only a couple cars in existance without even a standard version to fall back on. This time a production version exists making building duplicates possible, and repairing them much, much cheaper.

Well for one, the silver orginal concept was not an actual car intended for driving, basically a prop in itself. The BB Camaro was different. It was a joint venture between Steve Saleen and GM. It featured the entire chassis off of an '06 Pontiac GTO. The body and interior were an indentical design to the original concept's. So for anything relating to the chassis, drivetrain, and engine, yes, parts were available. As for the body, not so much. The BB Camaro was not an original GM concept, but had a totally different chassis design and was built AFTER the original.

True, but even thought it was built after the first concept, it was still concidered a concept car as it shared the same sheet metal as the 1rst car and was still built at a cost over $ 1 million. Also, the 1rst concept car was also built on the "zeda" chassis (same chassis of the GTO, Holden Comodore, G8, etc). Point being though it was built to run, it was still fagile, one off with no back ups availible.

Okay you prove your point on the cost, but actually the '04-'06 GTO/Monaro and the '04-'06 Commodore were V-Body platform cars, because the Zeta platform was not introduced until the '07-'09 Commodore and was later used on the Commodore import Pontiac G8 and the '10-present Chevy Camaro.
