In scale with the alternators?

Postby Ricky_Stream » Sun Apr 08, 2007 6:54 pm

Hi guys, i'm a fellow TF fan from Portugal and i was wondering if there's any transformers from recent lines that are in scale with the alternators.

I started collecting (again, after so many years) a few Energon, Cybertron and Classics but i managed to get a 20th anniversary Prime and that "made" me get an Alternator (Hound). I'm in love with these...those details...it's what i grew up seeing on tv so....
Any others in scale with the 1:24 line?

Thanks
Ricardo

I've looked for that too. Havn't found much, and those aren't even vehicles.

Beast Wars Second Randy is 2.8 meters tall in the show according to show notes. the toy is 11.5 CM tall, so he's 1:24 scale.

Also, Beast Wars Second Powerhug is 1:23 scale, so he's close.

The Energon Ironhide seems to be on the same scale with the alternaters.

Actually Movie Ironhide and Movie Ratchet, both close to in scale with each other at the Voyager size class, seem to be closer to 1:30 or so... they both should be slightly bigger than the Alternators. On the other hand, their robot modes do match up relatively nicely.

And I might be wrong, but I believe the High Wire that came with Energon Kicker might be close to in-scale.

I think most GI Joe, Star Wars, Micromen figures are about 1/19 scale. They would be too big to be with alternators.

Yes, but he's horrible.
And has the worst atempt at not hiding the head ever.
The 2 bikes from Cybertron cant be too far off.

To be honest I keep the Alts to themselves. There isnt another tf line that compairs to them.

I'd agree. Nothing really goes with the Alts. Well, if you want to consider them seperate lines, MP, BT and some of the Kiss Players do.

I have a Cybertron Lugnutz with my Alternators. I just renamed him Wheelie and hid the Decepticon logo. Got the idea from Vanishing Point a while back.

In my eyes he's in scale.

I just did some research with the Beast Wars Second show bible, and compared the size of the toy to what it says each character's heights should be. The following are 1/24 scale:

Santon
Gimlet
Halfshell
Triplepredacus

Thing is 1/24 scale is really big, and most classic transformers are shrunk more. Beast Wars has some 1/24 scale and smaller toys, but I havn't found any classic TFs of that scale.

No, I think the Roadbots from Happywell are 1/16 and 1/32 and other scales, but not 1/24.

You are correct, they are either too large or too small... I believe there is even a 1/12 scale also which is of course, too large!

 If you grew up seeing those details on TV you watched a better quality programme than the rest of us!

As Bonger said, the MP line is...close in scale, and the KISS line is 1:24 also.

Wouldn't Classics Bumblebee be about right when compared with the rest of the Alts./Masterpiece?

I mean, if we do a comparison with his original figure to an original say Smokescreen, then we compare Classics Bumblebee to Alt. Smokescreen. I think the ratio or whatever is pretty close.

I meant growing up with those characters : (it's what made me take electronics in school)...and that level of detail and articulation is the cherry on top for me.
