Is Beast Wars II Galvatron the Future Galvatron from G-1 Canon?

Postby Maximal Primal » Sun Sep 16, 2007 7:19 pm

I brought this up in another thread. If he is, then he certainly hold a place of power for me in my toy collection as a "must get and Now!!" Buy. Does anyone know if IDW has anything on this? Is there a Gallery which shows the toys next to each other? It would be interesting to see the similarities in the toys, and versus the one from Energon as well. Here's what I wrote on the subject:

I wonder if he's the furture version of Galvatron from G-1, it wasn't really clear in the fan dubbed version i have been watching, it certainly could work into the mythos, which would mean that BW2 Galvatron was actually Megatron from G-1 and has been hiding for a long time, and that the events that went down on Earth in Beast Wars with that Megaton and the golden disc was actually a secret plot devised by BW2 Galvatron. Anyone know if this could be the case?

here is what wikipedia has to say:

Beast Wars II, Animated series
In Japan the exclusive cel-animated series Beast Wars II introduced a new character by the same name. In the years that followed the end of The Great War, the factions known as the Maximals and Predacons arose to replace the Autobots and Decepticons. In this time, a Transformer known called Galvatron was the leader of a group of Predacons who landed on Planet Gaia (a future version of Earth) in search of the power of the Angolmois energy to rule the universe. After many battles, he brought in his Fortress Nemesis to finish the extraction of the energy from the planet. Confronted by the Maximals Lio Convoy and LioJunior, merged together as the Lion of Gaea, Galvatron was defeated, but as the Angolmois energy was sealed in capsules to prevent further use, Galvatron revived, intending to use the self-destruct device in his chest to destroy his foes. With a final blow, Lio Convoy shattered Galvatron's chest, causing a cataclysmic explosion that seemed to kill both of them off and scattered the Angolmois capsules across the galaxy.

Galvatron was a Triple Changer, using a Gaian computer to give him the most powerful forms the planet had to offer. These were an ancient drill tank and a monstrous dragon. This made Galvatron the first Predacon in the series to gain a beast mode, although his was made into a Transmetal-like form because of his tank mode. Galvatron had immense power, to such an extent he often lapsed into stasis until he managed to amass enough Angolmois Energy to be permanently active in the second half of the series.

Beast Wars Neo
In the course of the Beast Wars Neo sequel series, it is revealed that the Angolmois energy is actuality the life essence of Unicron himself, which his minions the Blendtrons seek to recover. The Blendtrons also recover Galvatron's lifeless shell, which was then possessed by Unicron as he attempted to transform Cybertron into his new body, only to be defeated by Maximal leader Big Convoy, aided by Lio Convoy and his Maximals.

This incarnation of Galvatron was voiced by Tetsuo Komura.

The similarities Between that series Galvatron and the G-1 version are uncanny, both have a connection to Unicron, Both pilot a ship, or fortress in this case, called the Nemesis. both are Purple with some gold or orange, it's just soo much so that I could see the Beast wars II Galvatron becoming the perfect future version of his original form from the reformat in the movie to the end of the G-1 saga, which would make Beast wars II Galvatron the original megatron!!!

Crap!!! I need that toy!!!

Can someone do a toy comparison please?

unfortunatly no, they don't really share anything other then the name and their color. BWII Galvatron is a Dragon and a Drill Tank, while G1 is the obvious space cannon.

I have both figures and I am well known for hating beast wars Transformers. However, BWII Galvatron is one of my top 10 favorite figures. The grin on the figure, the crystal ball in his chest, the weapons he comes with. All very cool.

I have BWII & Neo on DVD and although I can't understand a damn word, they are both awsome to watch. They did such a good job of emoting the characters that you can figure out what they are all saying. Which is one of the reasons I like Galvatron in the show. Always gritting his teeth as he talks makes him a very angry and demanding commander.

Glad to hear that, I have a displayed only but otherwise complete BWII Galvatron on his way to my house.

As for the Original Poster, I do not personally believe that BWII Galvatron is anything other than a namesake of G1 Galvatron. Much in the same way that Beast Wars/Machines Megatron is only a namesake of G1 Megatron.

To first poster........I dont know if this helps boost your theory but in Beast Wars 2 the character or Beast Convoy [Optimus Primal] was not a decendent of G1 prime, He was G1 Optimus Prime in a new body.

Wait a minute sto.... what???

Huh???

Are you saying that in the Beast Wars 2 Series Optimus Primal that was yanked through time to help Leo Prime was actually Optimus Prime from G-1? Or that Leo Prime was actually Optimus Prime from G-1? the way I understood it, was in the Japanese continuity, neither were, and as far as Beast Wars 2 and Neo's Galvatron are concerned Maximal Primal, take this for your own personal gain...

they never stated that Galvatron from Beast Wars 2 was the Galvatron from G-1, but on the flip side of that, they never said he wasn't either!!!

It's simple.

BW2 was made prior to the release of Season 2 of BW.

At the time, no one knew for certain that Primal was not Prime. The Japanese made the assertion that he was Prime, based on Tech Specs etc.

It took a while for Seaons 2 (Metals) to hit Japan. They were filling in the holes as best they could.

so if we got a good english dubbed version of the Beast Wars 2 series, it would make assertions that the Optimus Primal is in fact Optimus Prime?? I've only seen a few translated episodes..thus far..

I'm sure they'd avoid that, given that we know better:

- Optimus Primal is not Optimus Prime
- Lioconvoy / Leo Prime is not Optimus Prime either
- BWII Galvatron is not G1 Galvatron

Not Leo Convoy.....In the Beast Wars 2 movie they bring in Beast Convoy also called Legendary Convoy knowen to us as Optimus Primal......For the Japanese in season 1 or our Beast Wars as well as their BW2 movie they thought that BW Megatron and Primal were the same characters as G1 Optimus Prime and Megatron.
If you think thats odd they thought Air-razor was a male transformer so it made for some interesting script changes when she became romantically involved with Tigatron.

Actually they have more free moralities in Japan when it comes to (homo)sexuality. They wouldn't be that appalled

I wasnt saying that they were appalled......but Japan's higher moralities twards homo sexuality dosnt alway extend to childs programing. And Beast Wars was still a childs TV program.

You want to see a good episode of Beastwars two, watch the one where Lio Jr starts calling Lio Convoy Poppa. Akward in the best of situations.
