So far, Rotf has had some pretty crappy toys and other abominations that just make it look like crap. For instance, Wheelie turns into a retarded robot thing that just makes me want to punch stuff. It just sucks that a perfectly good idea for an alt mode turns in to such a piece of crap like it does. With The Fallen, you can't even tell what's going on; he's an absolute mess. Megatron is just a tank standing up and to transform him, it's vaguely familiar to the Jump-starters. But, worst of all is Devastator. First off, his toy can't even stand up on it's own and the proportions just blow. He also just looks like dog poop on the side of the street. The individual parts just transform into vehicles and nothing else. The vehicles are mediocre at best too. The deluxe components they're selling look 10x better but do not combine. Some of these robot modes like Demolishor just seem unacceptable and annoying. I forgot to mention, the crappy devastator thing that combines is $100, or 10ish deluxes. If those deluxes could combine, it would easily trump the obviously not 2 feet tall crap piece. I know many of the people have been complaining about the autobot brothers. It's really easy to see past their head sculpt seeing as their bodies look like freaking beasts. Maybe because of the giant fists on opposite sides, they can combine. Who knows what the movie is going to be like, it could not reflect these bad features at all. But it is still fallible.

I think the first movie was awesome, and the toyline sucked.
The toyline did have some awesome Optimus toys but other than that it was pretty bad. But it didn't affect the movie. You're comparing 2 different things really. I'm sure the movie itself is going to be fine.
As for me I won't be buying any ROTF toys after all the money I wasted on these POS Movie toys!

I think the movie is going to be great.
I'm torn on how much I'll spend on these RotF toys for my boys. $100 is quite the price tag for a combiner whose parts don't transform as individual robots. Very dissapointing.
Soundwave sounds like a reasonable buy and so does Sideswipe.
I got every movie toy of the characters that were actually in the TF1 movie (so no red car Swindle or "movie" toys of characters that weren't in the movie) for my oldest son over time. I never got leader class Megatron, instead got the Best Buy voyager one (before I knew they were going to come out with a Premium Leader class).
So... maybe I'll get Leader Class RotF Megs...
I understand your gripes about the Devastator toy and the Wheelie robot mode. Maybe some of the others will turn out pretty good though. We'll see.

you have to watch the movies as a new action flick, not something about your fond childhood memories. if you take it as a sequal to the first movie, and not a continuation of the shows they're pretty good. if you yell and scream "oh my god! what did they do to my favorite character" you're gonna hate it. watch it as "giant robots from outerspace beat eachother up and i recognize the names" you'll like it. thats what i did with the first one. its a paralell uiverse to anything we come to expect.
and yes, Devastator is dog poo in robot form

I definitely think ROTF is going to be far more awesome than the first movie. In fact, I know it's going to be awesome after seeing the trailers.

Re: Is Rotf even going to be good?
hmm, i think it will be a good movie. michael bay isnt an idiot. i think he did a good job with the first movie getting the transformers name out, and it worked. now i think he is going to try to satisfy the fans by putting a little mythology into it and maybe have some cool stuff for the fans. still trying to figure out how he is going to make it all work and not make it a mess, but i am hopeful that he knows what he is doing and that he figured it out somehow.
as for the toyline. eh. there are some pretty good ones out there, but yeah, devastator really upset me. i am just waiting to see what they are going to do with ravage....ehhhhhhh

Well, my Tarot cards are giving me nothing on this. That's because, dammit, we need a Transformers Tarot!
But anyway, I understand the initial poster's apprehensions. Jedigrimlock's right in that the first movie may have just been an audience draw, and that this one may be more for the fans, but I'm not betting my tax return on it. Why? Because fans have, historically, in anything, but especially sci-fi fandom, been treated like *poop* by the Powers That Be. Fans are loyal, so many creators/producers/directors don't really feel the need to toss them much beyond a random bone or two. (If you don't believe me, ask a Dr Who fan).
On the other hand, the enormous bot-cast makes me think it is sorta fanny--if you don't know who they are, the movie's going to be 2 hrs of CGI beating virtual snot out of each other, and despite what my guy friends think, two solid hours of ultraviolence gets...kinda boring, especially if you don't know who's who. Me, I'd be happy with a movie that is ALL robots, NO people. But I am in the distinct minority.
I personally am praying there aren't Pretenders. That motif is sooooo done by now in sci fi. And I'm not happy that Starscream spits. Don't ask---long thing about theory and gender and liquid and whenever liquid is present it's somehow feminizing or at the very least *semiotic* and urg I wish I hadn't read so much theory.... Or I could just say it makes me question why Transformers, who do not *eat*, need fluid in their mouths.
HK, who worries too much about completely ridiculous things.

I actully thought exactly the oppisite. I like the first movie toy line but hated the movie.
The only reason I like the toy line is because they can actully transform and some of them have WAY better head sculpts then the movie did. Wreckage and Thundercracker for examples. I like the fact that Hasbro basically said screw it to the movie head sculpt and made a second version of Starscream with a more G1 reminisent head. I wish they'd do the same to Megatron and make his Transformation smoother sence he's really the only movie toy I didn't like.
I allso like the Rescue Ratchet repaint in G1 colors, puke Ratchet sucks.
Oh and of course, I hate Bumblebee's lack of a face so I only like the versions of his toy that have his mask on.

I would have to venture to say that RotF will be freaking awesome. I don't know about the toys; there's a lot of hit and miss with those, but some are actually ok. I do think the movie is going to kick ass though.

I enjoyed the first one, and believe the renge of the fallen will be great. I have no reaosn not be optimistic so far.

Re: Is Rotf even going to be good?
I personally found the first movie to be extremely lackluster. I had only a mild interest in the sequel initially (in so much as I will naturally be interested in what will represent one of the apexs of TF's cultural prominence). After hearing a few things, including the rumour that they actually have both the lack of taste and audacity to include Wheelie, I'm actually looking forward to it. Even if this is bad, it sounds like it will at least be fascinatingly bad.

then why have him maskless in ur sig?and he has a face he's alian remember? I like the buggy look it makes more sence with the name bumblebee.
The only pics I could find of him with the mask on were close ups of just his head not full body shots.
And, you call that a face? He looks like G1 Optimus Prime after BW Megatron shot his face off.
Optimus Prime has a face, he's hell of ugly but he has a face. Jazz had a face. Ratchet has a face. And Ironhide has a face.
Bumblebee has eyes and an exsposed speaker box. That's really what it looks like, there's just this round speaker looking thing where his face should be. No mouth, no nose, just a speaker.
All the Decepticons have faces, they're ugly as hell and look like insects but they have faces. I don't see any resembleance to a bug on Bumblebee like you said. All the Decepticons look like bugs. The Autobots look more or less human but are still really ugly except for Bumblebee who looks like he got shot in the face and that's all that was left.

It's weird because all the ambulances in my town are the same green color. So...no, green works.

Watch the movie. When he speaks at the end, the "speaker" moves up and down. It's apparently attached to his lower jaw, I'd even assume it was the voice box he used in the prequel novel.
Saber Prime wrote:except for Bumblebee who looks like he got shot in the face and that's all that was left.
Yeah, Megatron ripped his original voice box out. Then he used a separate one, but that was broken before he came to Earth.

The movie came out how long ago and I've still never seen a Green Hummer as an ambulance. All the ambulances around here are still mostly white with the red decals and are vans. You know, the kind of vehicle that's been the ambulance for the last 30+ years that everyone recognizes as an ambulance.

Actually, Bumblebee's mouth is covered by a gas mask. Old Ironhide has bad gas, so all autobots are advised to wear these. However, BB is the only autobot that follows this important rule.

Ah, no. Nope. Ambulances here are typically green, with a white band along either side with the word AMBULANCE in red. Also, they're not vans, they're trucks.
Even so, there are green ambulances, so I don't know what you're complaining about. People aren't going to think he's something else based on his color scheme.

Wow, lots of negative energy in here.
I loved the first movie and the toys. I'll probably love the second of each as well. I love the Movie robot look, I have an open mind about such things and am not tied to previous notions about what characters "should" look like. I have most of the first Movie line, and I'll probably, eventually, get most of the second as well. They just strike a chord with me.
I happen to like that Devastator looks so very alien, that he doesn't look like a bunch of construction vehicles snapped together in a perfect bipedal form.
I also like the idea of humans in the movie, so we can relate to them and put the giant fighting robots in perspective. I like that they managed to kick some Decepticon tail on their own as well, here's to more human victories in RotF.
Honestly, I'm not sure what all the haters would rather see. This is not G1 nor any other previous version of Transformers, it's TF for the 21st century. It's not going to look like anything before it. *shrugs*
