Is Tea losing its edge?

Welcome to the General Discussion area where just about anything goes! This area is designed to discuss all matters and does not necessarily have to be Transformers related. Please keep topics relevant.

Because it tastes good depending which type of tea you use. I only use milk on Earl Grey tea.

I like both coffee and tea, just not together in the same cup. I tried mixing them together, with AWFUL results.

Yeah, soda's real passe nowadays.

It's tea, coffee, juice, and flavored waters.

As far as culinary culture is concerned, America really seems to be reaching out and trying different things. I guess we all got bored of MacDonals and Coca Cola seeing as we all seemed to have opted them for Sushi and exotic teas and coffees.

Mmm...sushi.

That's because you forgot to add hot chocolate to the mix......mmmm that combo kept me awake for a few days, esp cos there was about 3 tablespoons of sugar in it, 23 teabags, 3 spoons of coffee and 4 spoons of chocolate ooh and some milk.

I've lived in the South for eleven years now and everything is about sweet tea. I HATE IT! I don't like hot tea, and I despise coffee. And as for unsweet tea, what's the point? It tastes bad to begin with, so why make it unsweet? :???: Anyway, I am a Dr. Pepper fiend. My husband drinks coffee by the gallon, and I've finally gotten used to its awful smell.

Man, I sound like a grump.

I order unsweetened tea so I can sweeten it myself. I find southern sweet tea a bit too sweet for my taste.

Milo's sweet tea w/ splenda's pretty good.

The only reason I don't drink Dr.Pepper is because non diet drinks are sweetened w/ high fructos corn syrup and it's really really bad for you. Way worse then any sugar or calories from the drink.

I just think tea has a strange aftertaste. And I also burned out when I was a kid, because I drank so much of it. Eh, I can still remember the taste. Yuck.

Dr. Pepper tastes like sin-and not the fun kinda sin either!!!!

I only ever had it once and i hated it! A couple of years back i was in Florida and It was way to hot for me, on a long long road trip i was thirsty and only had enough time and money for one drink-

generally i am a coke man, but the shop had Dr. Pepper and we used to not get it in Ireland so i decided to experiement with what looked like coke.

It took me over an hour to drink it, even though i was dying of thirst.

I really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really Hate Dr. Pepper

This is simply the best thread I've ever read!

Niko, I don't know if you've been gone or whatnot, but I'm glad to see ya! Delightful insite, as always.

I had to get up and put a pot on the burner.

Tea vs. Coffee, I’ll get to that later, but it's a culture and convenience thing.

First I'll start in the south.
Sweet Tea: Brew a clean coffee pot with six tea bags (cheap $.99/100). Put 1 cup of sugar in a 1-gallon pitcher. Pour the finished pot of tea on the sugar, add water, and stir. Some add more or less sugar. This is the easiest way, however, you may brew the tea differently. Pour over ice. Also, may be served unsweetened.

Sun tea: Fill a clear glass jug (preferably with a top). Throw in eight to ten tea bags, close top and put in the direct sun for 2+ hours. The longer the time, the stronger the flovour. Once it tastes good, add sugar to jug. Pour over ice. Also, may be served unsweetened.

North: Same as only served unsweetened.

The key to this is when the sugar is added. Sugar is water-soluble. However, hot tea or water, will dissolve more quickly.

If you add sugar to iced tea, it will settle on the bottom and never taste the same as sugar mixed with tea while hot.

Hot Tea: Boil a pot of water, pour into teacup, steep tea (either by bag of diffuser). If you are sick, add honey & lemon.

I've only been to the UK once, however, we stayed with a close friend's family, and so we got their way of tea.

Breakfast: I small pot of tea (four+ tea bogs with boiling water poured over), let steep and pour into teacup. You add a little sugar to taste and a small dollop of milk, stir.

I became a fan. When the tea was served in the afternoon, you could make it the same.

...Teapot calling...

Coke is NASTY! Bitter, poo soda! My mom and dad love it, but I rebelled after years of it. Dr. Pepper is the right combination of sweet and delicious. Coke is flat in ten minutes, while Dr. Pepper can last two hours or more!

Celestial Seasoning: Raspberry Zinger, It's steeping in my coffee cup.

I dig Asian food. I'll get a beer and some hot tea. Green, jasmine, something completely different, I don't care.

When served from a Pot. it may have loose green tea in it. Most Asian pots have a little strainer in it.

However, I like to throw a green tea pack in a large coffee mug to go, I normally start with green tea on Monday’s, you always need a little something extra on those days.

During the week, I normally drink a flavoured tea, like Raspberry, or something else fruity.

On Fridays and the weekend, mostly I drink coffee in the morning. However, I only like coffee in the morning or late as a dessert.

I don't like expensive coffees, 'cause I always add sugar and milk to taste. You add enough and they all taste the same.

However, different flavours are good, Hazelnut, French Roast, Columbian, etc...

The rare espresso or "Fancy" coffee.

...PSA.. If given the choice get Shade Grown, Free Trade coffee. Unless supporting a local business.

This ahs been a PSA provided by the Nation of the Drewbie Isles in an effort to obtain global Peace...

The reason that Coffee is becoming more popular is because everyone wants to be like America. I know that's an exaggeration, Italy has coffee. Africa has coffee. I know, i know, but even though it is grown rarely here in the US, we like to drink it while abroad. So like McD's, and coke, and Global Consumerism, we bring the evil that is *$'s.

Also, history plays a part. The Brits got Tea through India. Until the Colonial yoke was broken. Sure every ones happy, but that is always there, it's history.

Ironically, no one thinks about what the US did to Hawaii to get Sugarcane and Kona Coffee.

The truth is we all need to branch out and be more versatile. Variety the spice of life! - Olde Drewish saying (Yeah, I know I stole it)"

I drink what I like. However, one must branch out and try many things. If not you become closed-minded.
