The plot sucks. It's a brainless action flick.

So long as it's better than The Marine.

Yeah, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with brainless action; It's what Bay set out to do, and it's pretty clear it's what he's accomplished. It's when a director tries to make something intelligent and FAILS that it becomes a bad thing. Luckily all intentions were met, we've got a simple, hard hitting action flick. Like G1? Yeah, but better... In most aspects (most of us will agree its good enough to see them "in real life")featofstrength wrote:Meverix wrote:

Brainless action? much like the first 2 seasons of G1. Cmon guys it really boils down to just robots punching each other in the face...and im happy with that

Yes it is. Its Michael Bay. I don't think I've heard the worlds 'Intelligent' or 'Deep' go with this film. So far it's been 'Big ****ing Explosions', and you rarely have intelligent explosions... Though God help us all if that ever happensBurn wrote:Meverix wrote:The plot sucks. It's a brainless action flick.
No it's not.
Now run along and see the movie.
Look, the basic concept is an action movie. That's all Bay ever said he wanted to make, and he's clearly done it. He didn't say he wanted a brilliantly deep or involved plot, and so we're pretty unlikely to get one, and from the original script, that's a cert.Burn wrote:ahhh here we go. Another one jumping on the Bay-hating wagon.
Have you seen the movie? Didn't think so.
I stand by my comment. Unlike yours, it has validity and isn't based on a bunch of previews and opinions on the directors prior films.
Like I said. Run along and see the movie.
He set out to make an action movie. It isn't logical to say we'll be presented any more than that. You don't go to make cookies and accidentally bake a cake.Meverix wrote:Yeah, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with brainless action; It's what Bay set out to do, and it's pretty clear it's what he's accomplished. I think you're not listenng. I never said I didn't like simple action. I'm excited for the movie and I know I wont be disappointed because I don't expect more than a simple story with lots of explosions. I don't hate Bay, I don't hate action, I'm not going to like the film any less for having a simple story.Burn wrote:Run along and see the movie.
As far as i'm concerned there was enough of a plot for my liking.
But then i'm easily entertained and don't need a plot that has varying levels of intricasy and deepness as well as something that challenges me to debate the current social structure of society blah blah blah oooooo big explosion wheeeeeeee
No, I haven't seen it, but that's my problem.Burn wrote:All I said was that this isn't a "brainless action flick", I say that based on the fact i've seen it.
Yet you seem intent to convince me otherwise.
You have your opinion, I have mine. I'm just trying to get you to hold off on making a judgement about the movie until you've seen it.
Moving on ...
Well seeing as Bay set out to do an action flick and very little more, at least my assumption is educated. And even then, what some one percieves as a developed plot varies from person to person, what Burn might see as a good ("enough") plot I might find a little lacking. Or hey, I might be proven completely wrong, but if the plot is anything like the leaked script has basically outlined, then i'm not banking on a particularly magnificant plot.D-340 wrote:Considering Burn's actually seen the movie, I would think he's got a bit more insight on the subject. Really no use in arguing, eh?
