It doesn't matter if the robots don't look the same as the cartoon but it is the story and the way the character act that matters.

It's Autobots versus Decepticons. That's good enough for me. Anything else is just details.

Don't. Only see it for one of two reasons.

1. You're being forced to watch at gunpoint, and have something to live for.

2. You're so drunk or drugged up by the time you become sober again you'll not remember anything that happened in the last week.

Yeah, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with brainless action; It's what Bay set out to do, and it's pretty clear it's what he's accomplished. It's when a director tries to make something intelligent and FAILS that it becomes a bad thing. Luckily all intentions were met, we've got a simple, hard hitting action flick. Like G1? Yeah, but better... In most aspects (most of us will agree its good enough to see them "in real life")

Well, so far this year, the two action films I was looking the most forward to sucked (that would be Spiderman 3 and Pirates of the Caribean 3)

In terms of plot, I don't know if you could do worse than Pirates 3. But at least Transformers will actually have action scenes instead of Pirates standing around talking for 2 and half hours, that's guaranteed, so even if the plot is cheesy, it's already better than some supposed-to-be-great movies I've seen this year...

Yes it is. Its Michael Bay. I don't think I've heard the worlds 'Intelligent' or 'Deep' go with this film. So far it's been 'Big ****ing Explosions', and you rarely have intelligent explosions... Though God help us all if that ever happens

EDIT: I will say it saves itself by having MULTIPLE plots. The solders, the Transformers arrival, Sam and Mikaela, whatever else. But this is hardly a Donnie Darko (Not that it should be, but it's still not)

ahhh here we go. Another one jumping on the Bay-hating wagon.

Have you seen the movie? Didn't think so.

I stand by my comment. Unlike yours, it has validity and isn't based on a bunch of previews and opinions on the directors prior films.

Like I said. Run along and see the movie.

Look, the basic concept is an action movie. That's all Bay ever said he wanted to make, and he's clearly done it. He didn't say he wanted a brilliantly deep or involved plot, and so we're pretty unlikely to get one, and from the original script, that's a cert.

And I never said I hated Bay. I said he makes action-flicks, I don't hate him because what he does, he does well.

Meverix wrote:Yeah, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with brainless action; It's what Bay set out to do, and it's pretty clear it's what he's accomplished. He set out to make an action movie. It isn't logical to say we'll be presented any more than that. You don't go to make cookies and accidentally bake a cake.

Run along and see the movie.

As far as i'm concerned there was enough of a plot for my liking.

But then i'm easily entertained and don't need a plot that has varying levels of intricasy and deepness as well as something that challenges me to debate the current social structure of society blah blah blah oooooo big explosion wheeeeeeee

I think you're not listenng. I never said I didn't like simple action. I'm excited for the movie and I know I wont be disappointed because I don't expect more than a simple story with lots of explosions. I don't hate Bay, I don't hate action, I'm not going to like the film any less for having a simple story.

Don't tell me not to make assumptions about the film when you're making assumptions about me. I'll be running along to see the film no matter what happens. But why don't you sit down and get to know me first, hm?

All I said was that this isn't a "brainless action flick", I say that based on the fact i've seen it.

Yet you seem intent to convince me otherwise.

You have your opinion, I have mine. I'm just trying to get you to hold off on making a judgement about the movie until you've seen it.

Moving on ...

Indeed, moving on before this gets locked.

Considering Burn's actually seen the movie, I would think he's got a bit more insight on the subject. Really no use in arguing, eh?

Well seeing as Bay set out to do an action flick and very little more, at least my assumption is educated. And even then, what some one percieves as a developed plot varies from person to person, what Burn might see as a good ("enough") plot I might find a little lacking. Or hey, I might be proven completely wrong, but if the plot is anything like the leaked script has basically outlined, then i'm not banking on a particularly magnificant plot.

I have the agree with Maverix here. First, you call him a bay hater when he hasnt said anything bad about bay or the movie, he just stated a "fact" that its indeed a brainless, popcorn action movie. If you think thats the same as saying it sucks, thats another issue.

Second, even tho Burn has seen the movie and keeps saying its not a brainless action movie, so have alot of other people, and most (every?) reviews say it is indeed...a popcorn action movie, very good for what it is for sure, but still a popcorn, "brainless" movie.

And third...hell, even the people behind the movie say its basically a summer blockbuster, kick ass action sci fi movie
