I've just moved to Wellington and was wondering whether anyone could tell me of any good comic or toy shops? On a wander round yesterday the only place I could find was Toyworld which didn't have much non-movie stuff.
Cheers!

Welcome to the country, dude! In Wellington, as far as toys go, you've just got your basic, Toyworld, farmers and the Warehouse (Which I can't find in Welly) And as far as comics go, you've got two stores: Pulsar Max down Manners Mall, or Graphic in Cuba Street. Both have pretty average selections of comics, but Graphic still has Graphic Novels (Given that they're still at full price, which is about $60.)

Thanks! My first impressions of Welly are really good, a world away from where I was in the UK.
I'll go and have another explore at some point, just need to get over the jetlag a bit more.....
I guess most of the best places to shop will be in Auckland?
So do you get most of the TF stuff that is released here, or do you find yourself mainly buying things on the internet?

i lived in NZ for a few years, generally the warehouse has TF and when i was there found that the releases often appeared before they did in the USA. One problem with being a toy collector in NZ is shipping charges of course and the fact that people seem to get all freaked out when you say you live in NZ as if somehow its more difficult to get parcels 'down' there, the postal service is good though. The other issue for toy collectors is that a $20 USA toy costs around $40 NZ (if i remember rightly) and if im not mistaken it takes a bit longer to earn NZ$40 than USA$20 (on average, again if im not mistaken)

Funny you should mention the rugby - I've agreed to play on Saturday morning...............
Cheers for the advice on prices, I found myself mainly buying stuff on the internet in the UK so don't think there's going to be much change.
As long as I can find the IDW comics I think I'll be happy!

Welcome to the country
Basically the store prices here are jacked up like crazy so unless you see sales just stick to buying over the internet from stores in the US or where ever - vastly better range then aswell... but prepare to be raped by shipping costs, although it still works out cheaper.

on a few occasions i actually had multiple items shipped to a friend in the USA who then shipped the lot to me in NZ. thats one way of doing it.
