I was at the theater today (will probly be yesterday by the time I get done typeing this. 11:16 pm as I start typeing) and we started talking about Transformers. One of the actors I was talking to actully refered to Jazz as "Autobot Jazz" in conversation.

Now in that little instant I had actully forgotten what we were talking about and why we even brought up the subject as I replyed with "What the hell? Did you just refer to his as AUTOBOT Jazz?" and he replyed "Yeah I've just gotten use to him being credited that way."

I went into the whole speel about how they don't have the trademark anymore and can still use the name as long as they stick Autobot in front of it but it made me wander...

Does anyone elce ever refer to character's by their Trade Marked names or do you actully call them what their name really is that the use to be called back in the 80's.

Basically Jazz or Autobot Jazz?

For me, Autobot is the group he belongs to and is not the character's name. His name is Jazz not Autobot Jazz and DEFINATLY not Meizer or whatever the hell his Alternater was called. I can't even pronouce that name let alone spell it.

the only time i would say "autobot jazz" is
1)if i happened to be looking for a toy with the trademarked name
2)if it was taken out of context i.e. "alone in the desert we see the autobot Jazz" (there should probably be a comma in that too "we see the autobot, Jazz")

and i thought the alternators name was Meister, like "its the dude-meister", you know sounds like 90s valley kid surfer talk. I havent checked the name yet so I may be wrong.

now I"M dwelling on this. why the f*** would you utter Autobot Jazz in casual conversation? to distinguish him for smooth listening jazz?

I know its the name but really? reeaally? seriously? wtf man.

There's alot of Characters this topic could apply to actully. The only reason I singled out Jazz is because he was the one that came up in conversation as "Autobot Jazz".

That's funny because only my high school (over 5 years ago) when they thought I was ditching class or the cops have ever refered to me as Caucasion Male. And I'm not even Caucasion, I'm just freaking pale.

When i was making my TF list i was going through all my "how-to-convert" manuals and alot of them have "Autobot (name here)"
I think some Decept's had it too..but overall it's just the TF's name...err!

Funny you say that.Back when I was in NYC, at my job there were 2 guys that worked in the Flooring department by the name of Ruddy Johnson.

One White one Black.

So every one got to calling them "White Ruddy" and "Black Ruddy".

You've seen verry bad pictures of me and you haven't seen anything of me with another person to compair with. There is really verry little to no color to my skin. White people are actully a shade of pink hench the "pink skin" comments from the Andorians on Star Trek. My skin is not that color, I'm looking at my hands right now and they're freaking pale.

I was born with a skin condition makeing me pale. I've heard this from multiple people who were there when I was born and even though the doctors at the time said it would change to a more normal color as I got older, it hasn't. I've still gotten comments about my lack of color throughout my entire life.

So no, I am not white, I am PALE.

i just don't see the point in saying the "autobot" part.

i know it the trademark name so they can use it but i've never felt the need to say it out loud.

I typically don't even use names associated with spicific toys unless I need to. These are names like Blast Punch Optimus Primal and Roll Out Optimus Prime or whatever the hell it's called.

See half the time I don't even know their offical names.

See insted of useing his offical name I just single him out as the Animated Optimus Prime with the stupid spin to transform gimic and everyone instantly knows what toy I'm talking about. Screw his offical name, I'm not going to learn it.

Ignorance is bliss I would guess.

I don't care if they put an Autobot or Decepticon is front of the name if it means that Jazz is Jazz and not Meister. Hell I would perfer if they did that so my Robot Hero display contained Shrapnel, Bombshell and Kickback than Insecticon, Hardshell and Kickback. But I can't think of any time I would state their name by saying "Affiliation Character"
