I dont mean to sound rude but........we've answered your question a few times already.
The Toy and the comic character were called "JETFIRE" so thats were it comes from.
The cartoon character was called "SKYFIRE".
Now the reasons they changed the cartoon characters name and desgin are a bit convoluted.
To put it shorty, Takara requested a model change because they werent allowed to use the Jetfire design when airing the cartoon in Japan and its other markets.

But like I said Takara couldnt use the likeness so the requested the characters appearance be changed.
Hasbro then chose to also change the characters name so as to not break with any "false advertising rules" since the character no longer looked like the toy.
Advertising rules were much different in the 80's.
