All things considered, I liked it. I was impressed that NBC could actually air something with a wow factor.

It did feel a little anti climactic to me (Mike could've had a few rounds with the head villain before the end of the film.) and the story didn't have enough oomph in spots.

However....I will say that it shows promise and I think with a little tweaking, they could make this into a great series.

Oh and one other thing...I realize they built the set (and yes, the casino is a set) and they've got to cash in on all of their properties...but the Montecito? Seriously? What will we have next? A Las Vegas/Knight Rider crossover or something?

Still...I'm giving it a solid 4.5 out of 5.0 it was the most fun I've had with tv in quite some time.

Heck, I even got used to the Mustang.

I actually enjoyed the cameo by the Montecito. it was a smart move using an existing set from a NBC property like that.

As far as remakes go, not as good as battlestar but a damn site better than Bionic woman.

Oh it was neat seeing the Montecito, but without the cast, it felt kinda...empty.

I can't speak for Galactica, but I fully agree with you on Bionic Woman, and I actually like BW remake.

No idea to be honest. I wouldn't be surprised if NBC hosted it on their main website sometime later this week. Heck, it could be on YouTube by now. lol

I don't know if they'll make a series, but this definitely has potential.

No guarantees. This was a "backdoor pilot". Meaning it can be a standalone telepic or the pilot for a series.

Depending on ratings and I'd guess reviews as well, that will be the deciding factor as to whether or not we'll see a series come out of it.

At first I was skeptical about the whole K.I.T.T.'s the new Viper thing, but I quickly got to liking the adaptive camouflage.

I was very surprised at how well that show turned out. I was half expecting a stupid plot meant to impress a 9 year old. It turned out well enough that my husband came out to watch it with me. He is not easily drawn into a television show either. I have not heard anyone say anything bad about the show so perhaps it will be made into a series. What would be great is that acting usually gets better the more comfortable an actor gets with his part.

I was also pleasantly surprised by this. Here's hoping they do a series. Does anybody know for sure if that was Val Kilmer voicing KITT? I know imdb has him listed but he wasn't credited. I just wonder, if that was him, if they'd be able to get him for a series.

It was him, and they probably signed him with a provision for the serires. He got the part with a little over a week for the show to air and they revoiced everything so I'm sure it does take much time out of his schedule to do the episodes.

Knight Rider was before my time, but I had an interest in watching the movie(and I've seen a couple of the old episodes, and I remember liking Viper when I was younger). I found the movie to be quite intriguing. I'd watch a weekly series, and it would be neat for the old KITT and the new KITT to have an episode together sometime down the road.

THANKS, I realy do like how true it stayed to the origional, yet made itself it's own. A very nice combination of new and familair. I'm a fan of both these things.

I do hope that if it is made into a series, we'll see more of David Hasslehoff, and even an apearance from the origional car. I know it may sound dumb, but I've always been a fan of through backs to source material.

Think about it, Beast Wars was hurting till they started working in G1! There's something to be said for it.

However if it does become a series, I hope future episodes are writen with more of an action feel, cause on more than one occasion, I thought I was watching LifeTime!

I loved it. First show on NBC that I actually unblocked the channel to watch. But I'm betting that since we enjoyed the show and want to see more, they'll drop it and pout something stupid on.

But NBC has done one thing to make me mad, the sweepstakes is closed. Come on you idiots, not everyone in the country has a computer 24 hours a day 7 days a week. And it doesn't help that the sweepstakes is advertised on the website as still open.

Just for reference, see the blue oval in my sig. That about sums it up.

Anyhoo, I loved how it was basically a continuation of the original series. Heck, I even dusted off the VCR and recorded it so I have a tape and DVD.

And just saying, you guys posibly missed it, but the old KITT did make a somewhat hit and miss appearance. His CPU and "swooshy" lightbar were shown activated (but probably incapable of speech or such) along with a glimpse of a panel say "Knight Two Thousand."
The new KITT is the Three-Thousand.

And I entered the contest as the show was on, all 4 times that were possible.

I'm suprised at all the positive replies.

My personal view is that it was bad. Not worth a series. Decent experiment, testing of the waters to see if there was a market, maybe. It just lacked a lot of dynamic feel and energy. The acting wasn't good, the plot wasn't especially exciting, new, or even that interesting. I didn't care about the two leads, they were often dull and lacked chemistry. Val Kilmer, as KITT, seemed bored and uncaring, especially considering the shoes he should have known he was filling. The Hoff himself seemed spent and rigid, maybe fresh out of rehab has subdued him. His cameo wasn't worth the suspense of knowing he was going to be in it eventually. What would have made it absolutely memorable though is if he'd have given his lines, walked off screen, and then a few seconds later you see a black Trans Am driving away in the background. That.. would have been worth it, even if it was pure camp. While reading someone's opinion of the lesbian scene with the FBI agent, they mentioned it was offensive to family tv. While not at all offensive to me personally, I did have to agree with the person's wtf moment. It added nothing to the movie, and it seemed like it was only in there for a shock/hip factor. The action scenes were few and often just outlandish. The bad guys didn't seem to represent much of a dynamic threat. You couldn't look at them and say "oh yeah, they're baaad people, go good guys". You could only look at them and think "well, the movie said they're the bad guys, so eh, okaaay..".

Some things were just outright stupid, like the Ford Edge chasing KITT around the curvey roads, KITT displaying 105mph, and yet the Edge CUV is hanging right on his ass. You're telling me that a super advanced car with arguably one of the best AI's in existance couldn't shake loose what is in all practical purposes a vehicle with more driving dynamics in common with a minivan? Or the end of the final chase, with the GMC Yukon slamming into KITT at high speed and KITT not moving. I'm not debating the lack of damage, we know he's got advanced systems that we don't understand and such, but that doesn't seem like it'd conquer physics. If they hit KITT, destroyed the Yukon, and still managed to push KITT sideways, it'd have been a whole lot less hokey. (These two popular examples are creating a lot of negative comments on car forums everywhere right now.)

I want to say so bad that I won't get into the heavy Ford commercialism of it, but I can't. I expected it in all seriousness. Huge product placement, and I'm not talking about KITT. Well, maybe I could say that about his ability to change into regular Mustangs. That's touchy though, with Transformers featuring mainly GM vehicles. I will say though that most of the Ford commercials that sandwiched the movie were actually significantly more entertaining.

There's other things as well, but we get the idea. But I'll be fair, and say a few good things that salvaged some of the efforts. The CGI for the bullet impacts was nice for a low budget tv movie. The attack mode, while I didn't feel it was ever attacking anything, was okay. Even the transforming effort, above comments aside, worked well enough as a plot device.

All in all, 4 out of 10. Which I think is more fair than many reviews I've seen online.

I have similar thoughts to the last review. In order to make a series they pretty much need to ditch the other characters besides KITT and his driver, everyone else I see becoming useless very fast. Mike even I find kinda dull, they'll all stock characters I think. I'd almost rather the Hoff be the main character again then get stuck watching some driver who looks like he should be doing cologne and underwear ads.

Cut back on the advertising, do I need a shot of the logos during every scene with the cars? I'm sure Ford will make sure to buy plenty of time during the breaks, they don't need to do it during the show itself.

No more random "sexing" up things. Not everyone is interested in that sort of thing. I want to watch a series about a talking car, not about girls taking off their clothes. The main character seems to be a ladies man, and now it seems like he's going to settle down with the main girl... Sex in TV is overused, they try to be edgy but it pretty much too late for that. If they really want to be edgy... have the main character that doesn't sleep around all the time or is married.

On the other hand I guess I'm a sucker for the car itself. Heck if the series was just KITT going around getting new drivers dependent on the mission I'd probably like that. The nanotech isn't bad, and I liked that it's a sequel to the original series not a redo of it.

For those who were wondering, NBC.com has it available for download in full digital quality and it will be rebroadcast this Saturday at 9:00 PM.

And...the ratings were good it seems...so we might actually see a series come out of it.

Sounds like good news all around to me.

EDIT: Saturday, not Sunday.
