regardless if it's our wife, husbund, boyfriend or girlfriend even our parents, how do they react on your collection do they get angry at some point and tell you your wasting so much money or they support in one way at least?

one thing i found out is that people around you tend to disagree into toy hobbies due to financial reasons and those who have extra cash to spend tend to get praised and here a lot of good things from their partners and relatives...

as for me my mom always get's nagger whenever she see new toys on my shelf and hell, she even knows how many toys i have and i don't like that i work to spend my money on something i consider my treasures and that's better than getting wasted my girlfriend somehow is supportive and praised my new toys but i have a difficulty of convincing her to buy me toys...

i'll be more than happy for those who could share their opinions and insights in this kind of matter.

My girlfriend loves TF's too! She didn't really at first but after I got her into the cartoons she started to turn around. Every now and then I pick her up some TF's too! She has a nice little collection of Starscreams, Cheetors and Hotrods... She even started reading comics when the movie prequels came out. Sometimes she tries to nag me but it never really goes anywhere because I always just bring up all the clothes and stupid shoes she buys... TRUMPED!

Weapon: Sword
To some degree your level of obsession plays a part in how others react. If almost all you ever think about and talk about are your toys, well then you may experience some concern from others. Especially if you are an adult. If you are causal about it and have broad interests, then maybe not so much.

I find it helps not to have all of them out at once unless you have a pretty well-establishd place to put them all. If you have toys everywhere, then it looks out of control.

yeah girls really are in to those clothes, shoes, sandals thing it's a common thing to buy for them... they'll even drag you to the entire mall just to look for clothes while you in the other hand giggles when you are given the chance to visit a toy store...

When I bought my first one my gf laughed, cuz I got Jazz for his Solstice form.

After seeing the movie, I HAD to have a Leader Prime, but felt bad spending the money, and she said to indulge myself sometimes. And then... I did. I quickly got Barricade, and she laughed a bit less that time. Then I got Ironhide and she didn't seem to say much. After that came the 08 Bumblebee search and I think that taxed her nerves finally. Then last night I got Ratchet, and she gave me a look of "disapproval". Now she's getting pissed I think.

Very interesting topic!

I didn't start buying toys till this year after the movie came out. All my old toys are back home with my brother, who's the toy collector of the house. So all a sudden we have these red boxes which I refuse to throw away filling up the house.

My wife's real keen on tidiness, but bless her, she's tolerant of the toys, although concerned with the sudden influx of stuff lying about the house. My bro's advised me it's best to slowly 'manifest' one toy at a time rather than have an obvious increase. I advise any guy starting out the same too!

I envy you guys who have hundreds: it's really easy to bury the new loot amongst the old, and if your wife married you knowing you had toys chances are she'll have let you set up your own display area or even room. Right now I'm trying to find a way to segue into that topic :-?

I tried to bullshit that the toys are for 'investment' purposes. Citing how I bought MP Prime for my bro and now it's tripled in value. She laughs with tolerance, because we both know that no matter how much the toys increase in value I won't sell them :)

She enjoyed the movie very much. We watched it last night and now she's finally understanding what I'm talking about when I mention scalpers, Bumbleebee and Bonecrusher. She's not surprised that Bumblebee is sold out, by the way

I dunno, she had to leave when we got back from Walmart last night because she had to be at work at 7 this morning, and she's there right now. First two or three toys she wanted to play with when I opened them. She didn't even stick around for the opening last night.

And I made the mistake of saying something about wanting that Target exclusive battle damage Bumblebee Evo pack yesterday.

I am already saying that if/when we get married, then I will have an entire ROOM devoted to them. Amazingly she was okay with it. As long as we have a room for something else.... :-? :-?

I just love my wife cause she loves my hobby and supports it as well...hell, she even buys me some if I ask her to...I have a huge collection of different toys, from gundams, Zoids, Star Wars, Star Trek, Tomb Raider, Simsons and Transformers(which I have more of than anything else). She know I could be spending my money on anything other than toys and most of my toys are MISB, MIP,MOC...so we can go to the basement and see where my money is! I rather spend it on toys than drinking!!!

My wife accepts my collection. Yesterday she surprised me watching me transform 2 '08 Bumblebees for my twin daughters. Then she asked how hard it was to transform one like Megatron or Optimus Prime. So I went and got Leader OP off the shelf and transformed him. She even asked how many TFs I had and told me to count them. She even wanted to know how many were mine from childhood. She saw the movie and she enjoyed it.

My sister and family think my TFs are cool. My nieces even saw the movie before I did and couldn't describe the experience.

Now my mom, mother-in-law, one aunt, and some family members question why a 34 year old collects toys but who cares.

I like my latest collection. Tfs have come along way from G1 to the movie figures now.

My dad doesn't support my hobby. He's worked hard all his life and I guess he just doesn't like seeing hard-earned money be used in such a pointless way. Well he doesn't have a hobby, so what would he know?

My mom doesn't really oppose my collecting, she'd just wish I'd stop since I'm running out of room!

My brothers are generally cool with it. My older brother especially, but my younger brother is still sceptical at times. It seems he's only happy when I get characters he likes, like Grimlock (we played checkers the other day, and when a piece got King'd, we'd replace it with Titanium or Robot Heroes Grimlock, it was fun).

My dad is a kid at heart and he collects Star Wars figures, so he doesnt mind at all. My mom thinks im a geek who needs to grow up but she doesnt overly criticize or anything. My Fiancee is really cool about it though, she is letting me have book shelves to display them and all of that. She will go through line with me and go into the toy isle. I think she's even called it "cute" before. I think thats a good thing right?

EDIT: She also didnt freak when I braught $280+ on opening day for the Movie Toys.
