y'know, the events of Civil War remind me to a degree of something the skrulls would do... y'know, pit hero against hero until there`s insufficient heroes left to drive the skrulls off when they invade...possibly it`s a skrull who truly believed he was Cap and went against his orders?might warrant them to assasinate him to rekindle the Civil War and further their agenda...

Funny you should mention those alternatives considering a time-displaced captain marvel reappeared in the same crossover.

And thank God for that. We do not need the Clone storyline back again.
You know, I think that, if you go to a Wal-mart in the Marvel universe, theres a whole isle labeled "Parker DNA."

If there's going to be a villainous orchestrator behind the whole thing I want it to be Ultron, posing as Stark.
But that's neither here nor there.
Anyway, what did MacArthur say?
"Old heroes never die, they just fade away."
And that's pretty much what Cap had been doing for years until Civil War came up. He'd lost any individual identity he really had, and had simply become the leader of the Avengers. And hokey looking.
If they want to have Cap comics on the shelf when the movie hits screens, just give Ultimate Captain America his own short run.
Speaking of which, if 616 Cap comes back, I hope he ditches the earwings.

On the topic, although they've killed Steve Rogers, Captain America's too hot a commodity for marvel to bury. They'll either find a replacement or use some clone storyline to bring him back.
The Punisher is quasi filling in for him. I think it's been in War Journal. I haven't got a comic in months though. This is stuff I've gotten from wikipedia.

From ToplessRobot.com:• "Watching Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is marginally better than sh***ing your pants, but it takes a lot longer." Very well put.
