Re: Takara Tomy MP-36 Megatron Discussion Thread
Oh Em Gee! I've done it!
I transformed MP-36! Took me 1:15 hours, with three YouTube videos open in case one wasn't clear enough. (I figured this would be too complex for the instruction booklet. But that was open, too.) Not including the time it took to sand the ridges on the unpainted barrel arm.
MP-36 is the first transformer ever that I hadn't transformed on the first day! I knew that once transformed he was gonna stay in alt-mode for a while.
The gun feels great in hand. Never held a "G1" Megatron before. It's insane how they managed to make the (cartoon-accurate) robot scale with the other robots, and have him change into a gun that fits like a glove in your hand.
If you wanna know why he transforms into a gun, just hold MP-36.
He feels powerful. In the cartoon it was always a dramatic moment when he transformed, cause the shot was more powerful than any of his other weapons. I love how he leaped into the air and did all those flips till he was a gun. Unlike MP-36, it was very quick and yet the animators put a lot of cool details there.
While transforming him there were two recurring thoughts: oh let the paint be more durable than reported; and -- how am I gonna reverse that move..
(For the first transform I removed the face and chest.)
Gotta adjust the silencer next, for the complete experience.
In true Takara fashion, I had to explain why the Megatron on my shelf suddenly looked different.
Thanks! Yeah, LG13 served his purpose for a couple of years and now it's time for him to go in the cabinet.

My Megs finally arrived as well, spending a full week in customs. He's an absolute beauty. While the transformation was quite involved, it wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting from watching some videos. The paint hold up as well, I only have two minor rubs that are basically invisible in both modes.
Well done

Thanks!
BBTS definitely included the plug. Members have mentioned that the plug is easy to remove, but not the one on the silencer.
Which is trippy because I got mine from BBTS and both pulled right out. It was still gooy and the glue was as if it was just applied before shipping, hell you could get high from the fumes in the box alone and from the inside of his barrel lol.

Well since BBTS seemed to be the only place that still had any stock I took the plug...uh, plunge. Here's hoping I get lucky with the plug extraction. And the paint. And the risk areas.

Re: Takara Tomy MP-36 Megatron Discussion Thread
Someone made this video explaining why fans are having trouble attaching silencer.
However, the way he instructs you to put it is how the part comes out of the box anyway, so personally I don't think it solves anything. I'm glad I sanded mine. The silencer can actually attach all the way.
But give it a go if you like --
BTW, my MP-36 is still in gun-mode, I like it so much that I can't transform him back just yet. :)

Video Help for Attaching the Silencer for Takara MP-36 Megatron
- Motto: "There are no impossibilities in the multiverse, just small minds unable to comprehend the possibilities"
- Weapon: Armor Axe
Have you been having issues getting your silencer to attach to your MP-36 Megatron? Has your barrel suffered some scuffing, paint imperfections, and maybe even some breakage? Do you know someone who has suffered with this issue? Well, we have an answer for you today.
Seibertronian Cyberpath found a video posted that helps shows you how to attach the silencer. The video was posted by Kippling Mertens on Youtube and shows a little bit of transformation in the silencer to help solve the issue. Now mind you this is in the instructions as Cyberpath pointed out, but sometimes a nice video is what you need to see to get the piece to work right. Check it out, and us know if this helped at all!

Yeah, not a big revelation since this is how it comes out of the box. And the instructions do show that the two raised streaks need to be facing downwards.
I think he got lucky with his piece.
But it's worth pointing out, if only for the people that tried the cannon-face gimmick before the gun-mode.

I concur. He definitely got lucky with his because my scope won't even go on if it is turned the wrong way.

Thank you! Hide him from MP Laserbeak.
Does it mean you got MP-36?

You can download Google Translate on your phone; it can even translate Japanese text real-time now.

I thought I saw that in the instructions. To be honest I didn't fully understand the barrel rotated like that. Not sure I'm going to try it since I think I'm done handling my Megs. FYI, it's not a silencer but a barrel extension. On a real gun, it would allow for longer ranges and/or higher calibers.

The barrel is grooved in such a way that it has to be rotated 90° or it can't slide on. It's just so tight that most people have to wiggle it to get it off the barrel, which causes the scraping. There was someone that advocated removing the tiny cylinder that slides inside the barrel.
The guy in the video basically won the mp-36 lottery because he is one of the rare few that got a good fit.

Something I don't get is why Takara picked the Grammer Nazi logo for their Long Life Design badge on the box. Anyone know what's up with that?

Not sure if this was meant to be a joke or not, but that's the logo for the Good Design Award.

he's already based on a Nazi gun, the connection has been around since his inception.
Although his setup is based on the gun from the man from U.N.C.L.E.
