I'm just wandering why is it the name Predacon gets used so much more than Maximal?

Beast Wars was all about the Maximals vs Predacons then BM made it the Maximals vs the Vehicons. However Maximals don't seem to exsist anywhere outside that Beast erra.

Predacons were around in G1 as a Decepticon combiner team. RID had Predacons as the main villain group. And even Armada has a TM Megatron repaint named Predacon. (granted it never appeared on the cartoon but the toy is still there.)

I was just thinking that while Autobots and Decepticons exsist in every series making them even. Maximals only exsist in the Beast erra. Predacons have been around in every series from G1 to Armada. What gives? Why does the Predacon name get used so much while Maximal is ignored?

And just so we're clear I am refering to just the names not the actual factions.

The G1 Predacons and Armada Predacon wouldn't actully count if I was refering to Predacons only as a faction because G1 Predacons are a Decepticon sub-group and Armada Predacon is only 1 guy. (Hard to make a faction or even a sub-group if you're the only member.)

And while we're on the subject Predacon is allso the only Faction name that's ever been used for anything other than a faction sence it started as a Sub-group and ended as a single character while being a faction inbetween.

Faction = Name of a large group of Transformers that all share the same insignia. (Autobots, Decepticons, Maximals, Vehicons, ect.)

Sub-group = Name of a smaller group of Transformers that share the same insignia as a larger group but go by a different name. (Dinobots, Stunticons, Constructicons, Airialbots, ect.)

possibly cause it signifies a predatary animalistic power, which would seem to be prominant in each case

So if they made a character named
Maximal you would be happy then?

And by the way Dinobot was a sub group by your
standards and was also used as a name in BW.

Yeah I was in the middle of making a second Topic about the Dinobots when my computer crashed. Has nothing to do with this topic though.

Perhaps it's because the word Predacon sounds cooler than the word Maximal. I sort of think that the Maximals got gipped regarding faction names (of course, the Preds got screwed regarding faction symbols; the Vehicons had it going on).

Predacon:
Predatory and con, the suffix of Decepticon. There is no conotation of what the Predacons are, other than Predators.
Plus it sounds very cool.

Maximal on the other hand really does not lend itself to anything other than mammal, something that no group outside of the Beast Era truly represent.

Not true.

For one thing not all "Maximals" are Mammals. Airrazor, Silverbolt (or at least half of him), Depthcharge, and Botanica are among several Maximals who are not Mammals.

There are allso several assorted Autobots, Decepticons, and Predacons who are Mammals.

The word Maximal may have come from the word Mammal but that has nothing to do with what the group represents.
