yup, I owned a busted one as a kid that I bought a garage sale and I loved him. I got him again and I still love the old P-38 megatron over the others

I opted for Classics based on the head sculpt, to be truthful, which was one element about MP Megatron that I'm still uncertain about. Part of me wishes that MP Megatron had a slightly different head.

some people say that G1 Megs robot mode don't work properly. I say in return. "what do you expect for 1975 toys?" the gun mode is perfect and its a superb translation in robot mode

Dont forget that G1 Megatron will shortly be re reissued as part of the Encore line.

Good point. Do we think that will be expensive or hard to get? Will it drive down prices of TFC?

Also, do we know if Encore is going to contain everything that TFC had? I'm off to find that thread now...

It makes me wonder if Encore will be a replacement to TFC or just a chance for collectors to get the harder to find reissues

even the entire body almost a cobra commander type look
to it

the curved legs, looks like a dictator!

keep him and be happy. if you really want a G1 Meg,
then sell the MP Meg and use the money to get it.

I still havent been given any prices for this line yet. I guess they would be slightly lower than the prices we currently see for TFC stuff because the TFC may be in shorter supply and Encore will flood the market again.

I would imagine that all the TFC accessories will be present as the designs/molds will still exist.

I hope they continue Encore past 5 reissues. I'd happily get more, but it depends on what molds are available

No, no, you need both!

MP-05 has no problems. The transformation is simple enough for any collector. With no instructions, it took me under 45 minutes, and I am no mechanical whiz, I assure you.

The balance issue is also exagerated greatly. I think some people haven't figured out the trick with his feet to make him stand sturdily. He is not super poseable without a little bit of work, but poses can definately be accomplished.

Pieces breaking off. I don't know what the hell those people were doing. I was very rough when transforming him and it went just fine. Hell, mine got knocked off the table it was sitiing on the first night by a cat and is just fine.

As for the lack of die cast, why does it matter? In something this size, die cast would not work the way it did with MP-01. MP-01 is big, broad and solid. For Megs to become a gun, he needs to be much more delicate and much more intricate. With a die cast body Megs would never stand on his own.

MP-05 is an excellent piece. It was meant to be a display piece and not a toy. As a display piece, it can stand proudly besides Prime as a high quality, impressive figure.

TFC-06 is something completely different from MP-05. TFC-06 is a toy and designed as such. It is fun to fool around with and shoots little plastic bullets. Very fun, imo, and very nostalgic.

However, it is no MP.

Starscream however, I cannot in good concience defend. I love my MP-03. However, it could definately have been done better.

I like MP Starscream, despite what people say. I like his colours too. He's poseable. He looks like Starscream. He displays well with the Alts., BT's and MP's. I'm really not sure what improvements could have been made.

I never said all diecast. Just a few more parts, like the main bearing that divides the upper and lower portions of the body/gun. That is a weak spot, and we all know a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link.

That is why silverbolt on YouTube broke his, because it was a design flaw.

I am pro diecast until the end, baby!

I'd never pay £100 for a fragile transformer, a nearby price for me would be £50 or so

You will be lucky to get him for much less from an importer. If you buy a couple you will save a bit on P&P. Maybe if a company had a HUGE stock shipped to the Uk they could do a better price. Mind you, Play.com is a big retailer and look at their price.

I think you are clutching at straws waiting for the price to drop but good luck to you.

Trust me, waiting for the price to drop and then missing the boat altogether sucks.

Ultra Magnus was around for a fair while at £65 but now I'm lucky to find one going for £100+ P&P.

I still think that you should try and find someone who has one and look at the figure in person. A lot of people are surprised to see that stiff joints are considered to be fragile. They're not. They're meant to be stiff.

Personally I think that some fans wouldn't be happy no matter what MP Megatron looked like. If he were all diecast, there would be other issues.
