As I mentioned with your BB and Ironhide, this could be much better. It looks too “sculpted” and cartoony, with not enough of the “mechanical” details. Look at the differences between Grimlock and Prime. Notice how every part of prime has panel lines, armor “plates”, vents, and other details which make him look mechanical, make hiom look “real” while still being cartoon accurate. Grimlock’s head looks like it was sculpted from a simgle block of wood or clay, not “built”—not fabricated—from multiple sheets of armor plating. when you look at Prime’s head though, you can see the multiple plates and pieces that formed his helmet and face. Look at the paint jobs between Prime and Grimlock. Notice how Prime uses silver and chrome instead of greys to make him look more real while still maintaining the cartoon accuracy, whereas grimlock looks like a cartoon character, not an armored behemouth. I’ve noticed this with all of your robots. While the techniques you are using work perfectly for more organic figures like Link and your other Zelda models, they aren’t as effective for mechanical designs.

You are a great sculptor, but you need to work on making things look mechanical. Work more on your fabrication. Don’t make things so rounded , add in more panel lines, use groove styrene in some areas to create vents and such, add actuators and other mechanical details. Use some metalic paints like gold and silver, use various foils and metal leaf to give some of your parts a truely metallic look. All of these will make your bots ten times better without losing their cartoon accuracy.

Personally I like the "sculpted" look, I think its a breath of fresh air. It brings an artistic quality to this site. Menchoy, keep up the good work. My comments here are also in reference to your BB and Ironhide works as well in lieu of posting the same thing twice.

Thank you all for the comments.

Tramp - I started on a new style of customizing Transformers about a month ago, so you will see the changes on my next upcoming Transformers customs soon, and they are somewhat heading on the taste of style you are referring to. Grimlock was the last one I planned to do for the masterpiece cartoon line. Lately though I was thinking of doing all the dinobots, but we'll see how it goes from here.

You already have made Swoop, Grimlock T-Rex mode and robot mode. Why not do the others while your at it. I'd like to see that.

in defense of this Cartoon sculpting style, look at the G1 cartoon. Watch an episode or two. These are much more cartoon accurate then Masterpiece Prime, not saying I like them more or less, just that they look more like the original cartoon. If you were going to take toys and do a stop motion version of a G1 episode, it would look much closer to the original cartoon than if you used any official hasbro release. Considering making sculptures that look like they stepped off the TV screen was Mech0y's goal, I think he accomplished it quite well.

On a different note, are those G2 seeker arms used for the TRex arms? And for a suggested improvement, I'm guessing he can't lift his arms out to the sides much more than is shown in the fifth picture. If so, have you considered cutting a U shape out of the top of the shoulder to improve range of motion? Also, are the wing pieces movable at all? Hinges like on the original toy would make it so if he were to move his elbow back the whole way it wouldn't get in the way, and should be fairly easy to hide.
till all are one.
