My idea for if they redid fortress maximus for classics 2.0

My idea for if they redid fortress maximus for classics 2.0

If I were to redesign fortress maximus for classics 2.0 I think I would make him bigger than the orignal so that he could have the deluxe class figure fit in him in diffrenent spots also I would work to make him a little bit more possible in robot form. Since I have finally seen him in person and he is an amazing transformer consider when he was released he holds up well. If I had to do something for the decepticon side I think I would design an aircraft carrier of some sort unstead of redoing scorpinok since almost all decepticon in the classics line thus far have had some sort of flying alt mode.

I don't think bigger would be the way to go as he already can't pass a drop test.

I don't see any TF toy without working electronics selling in mass release toy stores for over $60.

I'd love it if they did make it, and I'd buy it, but I just don't see it happening. One can only dream.

It's a great dream man. To fit deluxes though, wow!

Considering Fort Max can barely fit minibots think of the amount of upscaling and you'd need a figure at about the six foot mark to pull it off for deluxes, even then he'd probably be jsut barely able to fit them. Spike would end up deluxe size then, and Cerebro would be close to Fort Max's current size.

I wonder.....Marvel figures have been coming with a part of a giant figure. For example, buy Wolverine and get a Sentinel's arm. Collect all of the figures, build a Sentinel. Could they do that with Fort Max? Buy Bumblebee and get Fort Max's kneecap? It would probably solve the drop test dilemma because you wouldn't have to drop test the entire Fort Max, just the piece that you sell with the figure. Just an idea.....

It's a cool idea that would take a lot of engineering to make it simple to put together and transformable.

And the pieces individually, and together would have to handle the drop test.

But still an interesting idea.

Since we did not get Brave Max from RID I doubt we will get him in the Classics line. Unless they do a mini-me version but in that case what would be the point.

Yeah I guess your right I think I would settle for a slightly bigger version of him at this stage and as far as the drop test goes I don't know many people that would really do that considering how vaulable the figure is. The only reason I was even able to touch it was because my friend had it out of the glass display case he keeps it in because he was moving the case to another location. I guess to true collector of transformers droping a fortress maximus would be like accidently pouring paint thiner on some rare painting just to see what was under neath the picture on the canvus.

Not sure you know this, but the drop test is not because a collector might do this, but because a child can, and probably would crash it down steps drop it off a second floor, or something, so they have to make sure that if it breaks, it does not shatter into some very sharop small pieces that could injure a child.

There will never be any TF's as big as Fort Max ever again and certainly not bigger. How do I know this? For the same reason G.I. Joe doesn't have giant vehicles anymore and hasn't since 1990. Parents don't want to spend $100 (or more) on a giant toy that their kid is only going to play with for 6 months and lose interest in when they can spend $50 (or less) on a video game that's going to last longer, be more interactive, and in their opinion is probably less "childish". Not to mention you have to store that giant toy somewhere, video games are small and can fit under the TV. The days of giant toys are over my friends and have been for quite some time.

I think an argument could be made that a child using his or her imagination, playing with any toy let alone a large base station type piece where they can bring in other toys, not necessarily related to that toy (ie mix and match), is equal to if not more interactive than a video game that really only has one set path to go (most games) to achieve a goal, and are pretty repetitive in strategy and style...

I happen to see a lot of playsets for toddlers and younger, there must be a reason we just don't plunk them down in front of a TV with some kind of toddler joystick and let them go at it.

Games are also limited to having electricity available (or batteries) and toys do not necessarily need them to function in most cases. Also, for the better games a TV is required.

I think both have their merits for childhood creative play, but I would hazard to guess that good 'ol toys are still better than the video game console for creative and imaginative play.

But spending $100 on a toy is past many parents practical options. However, there are many $50 playsets out there. GI Joe has recently had a few in the Spy Troops line, Star Wars has the At-At, X-Wing, Tusken Raider sets, all near if not over $50 (the At-At is $95 or so).

I think they are still probable, just not practical.

EDIT: Not to mention that they need to have a game console first, easily over $100...DS, PSP, PS2, PS3, X Box 360, Wii...Quite expensive. Oh and you need memory cards to save your game, and another controller so a friend can play, online capability...

It would be awesome to have a Max big enough to house Voyagers, but what kid could feasably play with or afford something that large? The recent Unicron and Primus releases give you that hint of scale by being a big giant robot, but it still at a playable and relatively affordable size. I'd take a new Max that's a little smaller, that is to say the same or a similar size to Unicron and Primus.
