Thanks everyone! It was a ton of work to set up this shot. Unicron fell on the poor Autobots several times, though it doesn't seem like anyone was damaged fortunately. Maybe I'll notice a paint scratch or something later but nothing glaring at the moment thankfully. I took more photos from this shot but it was way too much work to remove the fishing line from the picture that I used to hold Unicron and the Decepticons up above the Autobots. Here's a before pic of the same shot in a rare "behind the scenes of Seibertron.com's galleries" that I thought you guys might enjoy seeing.

Chrome paint is expensive yo. Maybe they blew most of the budget on giving Devs stereoscopic vision. Maybe they got halfway through chroming up the purple bits and ran out of budget.
In all honesty I don't understand the Chrome paint on this. If all the Purple was chrome, it might look great. But the mixed types of paint is kind of distracting.

Purple is a really hard color to get right, especially in photography. A single shift to either red or blue can change the appearance on the image dramatically, while in person it looks totally different.
The extra engineering on the Takara version was done afterward by Takara. Hasbro's was engineered first.El Duque wrote:This has probably already been discussed (I'm too lazy to read the previous 14 pages of comments). So this set was designed by Shogo, who's been hitting home runs in the MP line. Seems to me the Takara version is how this set was originally designed, with the elbows and whatnot, and the Hasbro version is the remold. I can't imagine Shogo not have individual bot modes with no elbows in his original design. I assume Hasbro cut them as a cost saving measure?

The latest issue of Figure King shows the parts altered for Takara's version in the grey prototype stage while the rest of the (unpainted) figure is unchanged from the finalized Hasbro version, showing that the changes were made after the Hasbro version was made:It Is Him wrote:Sabrblade wrote:The extra engineering on the Takara version was done afterward by Takara.
