Hey all.
Ok, after having watched the new trailer about 50 times (:P) , it got me thinking. Now, this is only a theory, so as I said, feel free to dismerit it.
Anyways, the only time we've heard the original G1 sound is in that Prime transformation, specifically just as his head is appearing. Most of the other transformations have been 'incomplete', for example when Bumblebee transforms we never see the full process, it finishes just before his head appears. Now a lot of people feel the sound on Prime is out of place, and they have grown used to the new style, what with the metal clanking and whirring and clicking. Hey, I'm one of them, I reckon it fits. So, finally, my theory.
Could the G1 sound be a result of the head transformation only? I'm thinking maybe because of the audio receptors and speakers they use to hear and speak.
New trailer G1 transformation sound theory. Feel free to shoot down!

Mabie, ore it's exclusive to Prime.

Leave it to Dead Metal to have the word 'Pronz' in his signature.

i actually liked having that sound in it. it doesnt really stand out that much to me, but you can easily tell what it is. if you think about it..it will seem kinda wierd hearing that sound everytime someone transforms and since it's so quick, it wont go good i dont think.

ye maybe. we only seen prime finish the transformation. well wait..we've seen megatron and blackout in the new trailer. but with the megatron transformation, there is that squeek sound that is heard when he crushes Jazz as well. maybe they all have their own sound..

Maybe it happens every time they transform in the movie but only wanted to tease us and show us a "snippit" in the trailer when Prime transforms.
It could be one of those "surprise" type of things... We will find out in 44 days that is for sure.

Not a sheeple.
Think for yourself, don't let the magic TV box and social media do the thinking for you.
Question EVERYTHING!!
Just because you have a youtube review channel doesn't make you special.
I look forward to attending a Botcon soon only to settle matters with several idiots in person (yes this is a threat).

it will seem wierd though. its like in a big battle scene, and out of nowhere, that sound goes when someone transforms. it will sound out of place. i wont like it, even though it does sound cool.

Personally i'm in favour of it being used.
Head only idea would be sound as the transformations in CGI are obviosly being designed to do fans justice and take longer, to have the sound repeating throughout transformation would be a tad tiresome.
Volume on Optimus is fine, that was a dark alley at night so you wont hear it that clear during battles / daytime.
Mix it with modern stuff too though also, this is a 80's and 00's kids film.
only one way to know - get a ticket!

I heard this also. When Megatron comes out of alt mode, you hear a sound similar to a squeek...It sounds more like a very fast whiring sound. It makes sense they each have a different transforming sound. As they all have different bodies.
But if they could work the classic sound into each of them...that would be sweet.
