Now that I think about it, why has anything past 1985 in the way of G1 been ignored in reissues?

Now that I think about it, why has anything past 1985 in the way of G1 been ignored in reissues?

I mean, apart from Targetmasters of 1986 characters, a repaint of Galvatron, that annoying little prat Wheelie and Powermaster Prime, (And Flipsides, who's a repaint of the REject Mold, and Twincast, who's just Blaster in different colours) why has every other reissue been from 85 or 84? Like, we've seen no Headmasters, no real Targetmasters, no Pretenders, no Cyclonus, no Scourge, basically none of our post-movie favourites outside of Kup, Magnus, Hot Rod and Wheelie. Is that gonna change with Classics 2.0, maybe, or the Encore line in Japan? Seriously, I think even though quality dropped on certain figures (Firecons, I'm looking at you) past 87, I'd like to see some figures reissued, since they had some cool gimmicks.

Only the most popular and saleable line can get reissue.

I guess G1 is it.

Star Convoy was a post 1985 reissue... and he's pretty damn cool

Read the topic title again, dudes. I'm asking why we've seen nearly zero GENERATION 1 FIGURES PAST 1985 REISSUED.

TYPING ALL CAPS: MAKING PEOPLE FEEL MORE IMPORTANT SINCE THE INTERNET WAS CREATED!

...Anyways, the reason is probably that those were the most recognizable and commonly requested figures.

Besides, Godmaster Ginrai/Powermaster Optimus Prime was re-released.

Yeah, I was typing in caps to re-iterate my point. And I said that Powermaster Prime was released in my first post.

Your missing a lot of figures. Star Convoy, Six Shot, Predaking, all the Operation Combination Micromaster Combiners (there are 24 individual figures all together), Landcross, Stepper, and you could even count Fortress Maximus (Brave Max) from RID.

I do wish they did some real Headmasters and more Combiners.

Damn, I forgot about those, but I'm talking more along the lines of non-Japanese exclusive figures as well.

Six Shot and Predaking were US released, Blaster and Galvatron were also post 85. Thing is Hasbro was only releasing figures from the first two years, and Takara though going beyond that basically stopped the reissue when the merger happened ,though the Encore series may continue to reissues, or at least people can hope. Personally I'd like Hasbro to focus on making new molds in the classics/universe line rather then worry about reissue and let takara/tomy do those, they did them better to start with.

I meant the characters that were only released in Japan, I know Sixshot and Predaking were released in the US. And why do people keep saying Japan does better reissues than the US? They're the same toys with minor mold changes reflecting to US safety laws.

Some people like their reissue to be as close to the origanl as possable.

You also have to take into account any lost or broken molds. Not having a mold or at least a salvagable one is a pretty good reason for no reissue. We know or suspect some of the earlier molds like Wheeljack, Sunstreaker, and Mirage no longer have a useable mold. Neither Hasbro or Takara have been completely forthcoming with what is or is not in their possesion or undamaged. It's plausible that some of the post 85 transformers have suffered a similar fate.

Motto: "Chaos... is coming!..."
Char+Wheelie(Kup)/E-Hobby Orion Pax, Hot Rodimus, and Stepper were all Target Masters.
Blitzwing and Astrotrain were triple changers and past 85.
Insecticons are too.
You're also forgetting Perceptor.
Your original point is flawed as there HAVE been some of the items you're claiming weren't produced. They simply haven't put out the specific things YOU want. Hey man, everyone has a list.
