Re: what did you think? SPOILERS
The best review I've read described this film as 'starring at a blender while someone shouts at you'
I've seen it
The review is spot on
I dont mind the baffling ''plot'', the affront to the original show (Megatron is Darth Vader and seekers are now old transformers) or the reused sets (THAT village from the first film again..)
I even tolerated the fact in a film called Transformers THEY RARELY TRANSFORM, the Fallen doesnt transform, we never see Ratchet transform, Megatron might have transformed...etc. The transformers werent even named
What had me spitting blood was that every fight scene was just a blur - couldnt tell what was happening, or even who was fighting who...
The film is just dumb - the puerile humour the fact the Arizona aircraft graveyard and the Smithsonian are adjacent...the worldwide coalition which was 100% American and directed by Obama....
And the decepticons are pathetic - they are beaten up by any one who cares to try. We saw them cause havoc in the first film - now vs the US military more of them die than humans! How cam being 10 meters tall and covered in armour and weapons make you weaker than the guy with the pop gun?
Worse, the film was dishonest - the reused models from the first film (Blackout and Bonecrusher), the fact that each constructicon was ''cloned'' - the one in Shanghi even cropped up again as poart of Devestator, the endless scenes where the transformer was just off camera, or obscured or hinted at, all the scenes at night
If you dont have the money - dont fake it. Why have 46 robots and cheat, why not have 10 and do it right?
and finally - they used the name Devestator for the first film, they use it again in the second film - why, especially when no other decepticon is named...

Re: just finished watching ROTF
Just went to see it for a 2nd time but at the IMAX cinema. I thought it looked exactly the same!!I thought Bay said that there was meant to be some additional scenes? The picture was slightly bigger but thats only because the cinema was smaller and I was up closer, feel like I just spent an extra 3 quid for nothing!Anyway now that I've seen it a second time I thought the fight scene between Prime, Megs, Blackout and starscream is pretty intense!By the way was it just me or Prime shouts noooooo when he gets stabbed in the back?

Unfortunately the sequel was exactly what i expected it to be. I don't mean that in a bad way but in the sense that i wasn't suprised by much in the film. I felt a little disappointed but I know i shouldn't be cos the films good overall.
I Guess being a G1 fan was the source of my unease. The sequel should have been the nod to G1 the 1st film failed to be, but it followed suit and Bay did his own thing with our 'sacred' ideals. Still a great film just the same humans first type of film.
My geewunner quibbles anyhoo...
1.Fan favourite chars ended up being nothing more then nameless eye candy or cannnon fodder.
2. Wheelie! everyone hates wheelie. A great joke from G1 yet Bay gives us a wheelie I actually like. I mean wtf I like wheelie now?!
3. Prime should be the holder of the matrix and the script could have made this possible. Yet prime ends up destroying it without a second thought. So if Unicron shows up in tf3 we're boned without our fav plot device.
4. Wheelie justs disappear after the tomb scene.
5. Starscream is a lone seeker, where are the others at?
6. Megatron answering to the Fallen just wasn't right.

Megatron bow to Fallen maybe because the Fallen is more powerful? Cunning megatron knows that he is no match to the Fallen now, so why not ride on his power and get what he wants.... Wait for the right time... Just like Galvatron forced to obey Unicron.
Thats my speculation, of cos i have not watch the movie yet

Re: just finished watching ROTF
so much whining on here.It was brilliant ,better than the first one.I thought there was a much better balance of human/transformers screen time.
Skids and mudflap weren't bad at all they were funny.Sam's mum was funny after eating the "brownie".
Ok so maybe I did think Devastator died a bit too easily but it explains why the supreme devastator toy doesn't change into individual bots.
The battle between Prime ,megatron and the fallen was awesome.
Overall great movie 10 out of 10:)

I watched it yesterday. I have a warning. If your the kind of person that whines at everything and anything, Don't watch the movie as there is plenty to pick fault at. Personally I freaking LOVED it! I honestly think it was one of the most amazing movies I've ever seen. It could have done without a few unecessary things but in all, it was fantastic (even the twins were just about bearable). I highly recommend it, (unless your the kind of person described above). I can't wait to watch it again.

Re: what did you think? SPOILERS
I mostly loved the film. The only part I was a little miffed with was the end battle with the military and Autobots (not the Prime vs. Megs) - I found it a little tricky to follow who was doing what. Did Sideswipe survive that? I couldn't tell.

Prime's Trailer wrote:The Good
Awesome first half.
Shia was textbook, really moved his character on. Great chemistry with Fox.
Sam's parents as the comic relief.
Longhaul, Sideswipe, Jetfire, Soundwave, Ravage, the Bikes. All really cool.
The Twins were lovable (def buying the toys).
Interaction between Megs and Starscream really left you wanting more.
Prime really kicked tailgate. Him and Bumblebee were the most engaging 'friendly' mechs by far.
The Bad:
I do not understand why the running time was 2 1/2 hrs. It was at least half an hour too long.
Sam's dorm buddy: no need for him to go along for the ride. Very annoying.
The Autobot's lines: often misplaced or cringeworthy.
The Constructicons were constantly re-used and were indistinguishable.
In the finale Mixmaster appeared in two places at once: as part of Devastator and attacking sam.
Lack of both human and mech character development.
The Fallen and his minions were uninteresting.
Sideways only lasted 5 mins.
Jolt just in the background, never properly introduced.
You absolutely nailed it. If I could just add one thing to your list of "the bad" it would be that there was not enough sideswipe. Oh And they seemed to forget ratchet was supposed to be in the film till about half way through.

What i liked
.Jetfire, i fell in love with the fella straight away, a Hero in his own right!
.Skids and Mudflap - I really think they were pulled of really well, and looked great.
.OP's Death, what a sad moment, then a joyous moment when he comes back and combines with Jetfire's corpse!
.Meg's New ALT Mode! A tank that then takes of and flies. I loved his new tank mode
.The CGI, truly breathtaking, sometime i actually forgot they weren't really, they really did look impressive.
.The start, much better than the 1st films cheesy, "Before time began, there was the CUBE"
.The end, I loved how they ended with another message from OP!
.Demolisher at the beginning, i loved him at the start tearing through that town!
.Devastator was fab!
.The destruction of the pyramid looked so realistic!
.Ravage was brilliant, i loved him so much what an interesting transformer.
.Seeing Scorponork again, even if he died suddenly, i liked his appearance.
.Frenzy's head, i loved this little homage to the old guy, i loved him in transformers 1 and i liked seeing him again!
.Wheelie in general, found his language HILARIOUS!
What i didn't like
.Blood, did anyone notice that when the Transformers got hit they bled RED blood? Wasn't it blue is the first film.
.Spitting, why did the Decepticons keep spitting when they talked!?
.To many bots, we had way to many bots, and many of whome weren't shown more than once. There was a blue bot that linked OP and Jetfire when they were combined, i don't remember this bot earlier in the film or appearing later.
.Demolisher, i thought he died at the beginning just after he said "The fallen will rise" then is part of devastator.
I could go on, but you are probably bored. None of my Negatives are really anything major, one possible plot hole. This is truly the most amazing film i have ever seen, i loved it so much! Thanks Mr Bay for the wonderful film!

Well, from what I have read, I am just about as excited as I can possibly be. I cannot wait to see it.
One quick question; Is this movie pretty epic compared to the first movie? It looks like it would be.

Re: just finished watching ROTF
My thoughts:
Sideways was in the movie far too little, you only see him transform to jump through the building as in the trailer then he gets sliced in half!
Loved the twins and jetfire. Favorite jetfire line: "Oh Bollocks" had the whole audience in stitches as did the twins on a few occasions (maybe our daft english sense of humour is to blame there)
I didn't like how we didn't see a lot of transformers actually transform!! Inc Jolt and most of the constructicons. When the digger (forgot his name) transforms you just see the scoop at the front begin to split and the next thing you know the bot jumps in. That happened a few times with various bots obviously to save money!
The biggest gripe for me though and one that noone's picked up on. If all the constructicons have merged together how come they're all still fighting individually??? That is just stupid surely?!
All in all though a good film, me and my kids all really enjoyed it. It just could've been so much more. Let's just hope the 3rd one really nails it!

from what people have said, there are more than just the 6 or whatever number Constructicons. Not all are part of Devastator. Not all of the individual ones we know are involved. That is how I am understanding it.

Re: just finished watching ROTF
No there smultiple transformers with the same robot and alt modes.
Not that unrealistic actually considering how many humans looks very similar.
The ones that form Devistator NEVER have inidivdual robot forms, just share the same vehical modes

Re: what did you think? SPOILERS
I think Bay and his team did an amazing job with the first film. In my opinion, they reinvigorated a franchise i care for dearly and for that i am eternally grateful.
But, with this one they got it a little wrong. I don't know about you guys, but i 'm ready for a new director and script writer to take over for the third installment.

saying it was more epic would be an understatment! There is Transformer action virtually all the time apart from the odd human scene here and there! Trust me, you will come out wanting to see it again!

Re: what did you think? SPOILERS
I am still undecided. I thought it was good but could have been potentially much better with some very simple changes.
1- get rid of the two junkpile latino(?) twins and made them sideswipe and sunstreaker. Instantly more credibility and a great nod to g1. plot was sacrificed for humour too much throughout the film e.g humping foxs leg
2. Less bots(can't believe I said that) and more bot character development, there was only five autobots last time and they were reasonably well developed as characters, none of those really made a reappearance and were replaced by the twins and hugh laurie aka jetfire who also could have been far cooler.
3.continuation from the first, robots reappearing from the first and after being killed earlier. the most evident continuation was the use of scenes from the first film.
4.finally, and this might ruffle some feathers, too much americanism. don't get me wrong i love going to america and the people but it seemed like bay put american eagle clothes and an american flag wherever he could in a scene and made the american army seem just as powerful and almost in charge of the transformers. again no disrespect to the us army either, i respect what they do but i have had conversations with other americans who hate having the all american soldier romanticized and force fed to them and i don't like that in a movie either, especially when it's about robots from outer space.
p.s. there's no way someone as cool as obama would get rid of the autobots

Jet Fire was played by Mark Ryan, the same guy who did Bumblebee and seemed to be doing his best Brian Blessed impression and trying alittle too hard to make JetFire English
Also since when does the US president speak for the entire planet? If he no longer wnats the autobots on US soil fine up sticks and move to south america , Australia, Europe, US policy doesnot dictte world policy(*even if a lot of people woul like to believ it does).
And Mudflap and skids were voiced by 2 black actors not Latino, they were suposed like a laural and hardy or 3 stooges version of the Waynes Brothers.

Re: what did you think? SPOILERS
Regarding the whole Blackout/Grindor issue, i'm pretty sure that fans who don't follow the internet discussion will think the 'helicopter one' is Blackout. I imagine they will quite rightly assume Blackout was revived after Megs at the bottom of the ocean, rather than being a completely new character called Grindor who just pops up with no introduction or explanation as to why.

Autobots should have got slaughtered (Decepticons outnumbered them, some were alot bigger than the autobots, and didn't the Deceptions decend from gladiators?).
Where was Jazz?(that allspark powered repaint's bio said ratchet had resurected him!)
The twins were awful(if sideswipe was in the film, where was sunstreaker?)
The matrix just looked strange, it had a comlpetely different reason for being to it's g1 equivalent.
Ironhide looked the same as he did in the 2007 film so why does his toy have a different design and colour scheme?
Optimus Prime was cool, so was Megatron, I am unsure which of the two leader class figures I should get!
Jetfire's accent was cool (unlike his toy!)

Re: what did you think? SPOILERS
[Spoilers]
So far we've had comments from those who liked the first film but were disappointed by this one, comments by those who loved both, and I get the feeling one or two from people who liked neither. Might I be the first who didn't particularly like the first film but liked this one?
It wasn't mindblowing, but I enjoyed watching it and I never felt bored or irritated for a notable period of time, which is not bad going at all for a 2 and a half hour movie. I found the story more interesting than that of the first movie, and the action was more exciting and more coherent. At times in earlier parts of the film it felt more like a trailer for another film than an actual film but, hey, that's kind of Bay's style. While I can see why some might be annoying and even offensive (gold caps? really?) I didn't mind Muds and Skid-flap, and I will even say when one of them was almost killed I was happy to see he survived. I didn't have a problem with Wheelie either he was kind of fun. I thought John Turturro gave a much better performance in this movie and was given much more to do. In general I thought the comic relief was far less intusive than in the first movie (like the nose-picking Indian operator for example), and while sometimes it bordered on the lame (Sam's mother getting stoned) generally those moments sailed by fairly quickly. I am not a huge fan of the Bay-era designs, and unfortunately that did become a problem at points when the Decepticons seemed to become indistinguishable, but it didn't happen often enough to really bother me. I will say the finale felt a bit anti-climactic, but then the dice was kind of stacked against it given that the print broke in my theatre at the point when Jetfire was giving Prime his lifeforce or whatever, and as a result we had a five minute intermission, but still I think it could have gone on longer. Certainly not a great movie, rather insubstantive even given that I'm finding it hard to say anything about it, but it was a pleasant afternoon at the movies. I liked it.

Transformers Revenge of the Sith was NOT a good Transformers movie.
I tried to warn people.
TF1 is actually better than TF2.
If you see this movie at your local theater more than once, you are either rich or foolish. In this economy I hope you are rich. Honestly.
just wait for the DVD.
Prime dying AGAIN? Why!? That should have been left to the classic 1986 film. That should have never been done again. Prime dying in 1986 is what made that movie so popular and Bay decides to rip it? Not Cool.
Skids and Mudflap.....Not cool. Still don't understand what they were trying to do there. Its borderline offensive I could see the Al Sharptons and Jesse Jacksons speaking out on that.
Its funny to read some of the post where people are FORCING themselves to like TF2, when it is not that great of a movie.
......dude are frigging kidding me? That is the best you have seen?
The first like 6 or 7 post on here are pretty spot on.
I have been telling people on here for months this TF2 movie would not be good. I feel like Noah or something.
Dear Mr Bay,
When we (the real fans) ask for more bots, what we mean is more screen time to get to know the individual Transformers in your movies sir. NOT a higher number of Transformers that don't talk or speak in the films. Help the fans get to know and connect with the characters on the screen. 2 bad Transformer movies under your belt, can you please to the next one properly Mr Bay? Thanks. Take your time Mr. Bay do it right.
Til all are one!

Prime has died at least once in the cartoon and more than once in the comics. It's what he does. I am actually glad to see it, it stick to the story. The only problem is, he got resurrected at the end. They should have left that for TF3.

I hope those 2 are as stereotyped and offensive as possible. At least it'll be fun to watch. Sharpton and Jackson are fearmongering gloryhounds. they can go to hell.

I went to go see TF2 last night and I gotta say I thought it was great. Not the best thing ive ever seen and lots of things they could have changed/added but all in all i'd give it 8/10.
-the plot progression for me was quite good up until the last half hour which seemed quite rushed and anyone unfamiliar with the TF franchise could get confused by everything that was going on storywise with the very brief flashbacks to the past etc.
-the prime fight in the woods was amazing. i read the review of the film in empire and the guy slated it saying the 3 on one fight was done bettter in king kong or something like that...umm....wtf? that guys needs sacking and fast....kinda seen prim dying but what a way to go "i'll take you all on!" quality viewing
10/10
-anyone who criticises the use of similar models and is a G1 fan to me is just mental...i mean...the seekers were all exactly the same just with different colours (that were miscoloured in scenes...a lot!), so that 'bad point' is just stupid. plus as someone has already pointed out...it costs A LOT. As a 3D animator i know that it costs s--t loads for the whole process of building in 3D, rig, texture, animate, render and then finally composite the characters into the film. Which are all done by many different people. (although i do agree that re-using shots from the 1st film was just lame)
-i think someone moaned about more TF's dying than people...eehhh...? were you too busy eating popcorn or something to notice all the large explosions were killing 2-4 people at a time or when helicopters were being smashed/shot out of the air etc. I thought the bots could have taken more casualties to be fair but thats about my only grip about for stuff getting killed. oh and someone moaned about the 'multi-national force being just american'...they also must have missed the 5 odd sec shot of the british badge on some guys uniform at the start..and before anyone says 'oh so its just the US and the brits...' well thats generally how it is in real life for coalition forces at the moment. Mostly Brits and US.
-the twins were annoying...but somehow funny...i like them but i dont know why...was glad when they didnt get killed by devestator...oh and for the people saying he died easily...one of the twins shot his head from the inside of his mouth...thats gonna do a lot of damage...and to top it off...he was blasted with a HUUUGE ship mounted railgun through the chest (i think)...gonna end anyones day i think...its not like a bot just shot him a few times and he died...
-lastly (as i cant really think of anything else to say...I really really liked soundwave. finally doing all he should be doing...spying and relaying info...plus he 'ejected' ravage (who was freaking awesomely animated by the way and made me wanna come home and try animating cat models myself...sad when he got smushed by BB tho
). thats just cool! yes i know his voice wasnt synthed...which was a bit dissapointing, but it was close to the original without it and i thought gave him his own character rather than just copying an older version of him.
sorry if my views or opinions offend anyone because i argue against what people have said, thats not my intention, just my opinion

it's fine, man, that's what this place is for. At least you're not a self-serving ignorant asshole like certain others here. And I found your review helpful.

Re: what did you think? SPOILERS

I absolutely loved the movie. This is why you see summer movies.
It was just so much fun to watch. Sure it's a rollercoaster like the first movie but the last 30 minutes were incredible. I wasn't watching it on IMAX sound system but it seriously rocked the theater.
Someone mentioned the Bad Boys relation to the Twins. I can see that. I'm not too annoyed with them.
It was a brilliant move to remove Bumblebee's voice. That was part of the charm of the first movie. I love Optimus and all but there are times where Bumblebee steals the show.
Say what you will about Michael Bay but he can make explosions and car chases look like art.
I could've sworn Steve Buscemi was Wheelie's voice but I guess not.
If there were any complaints, it's the final showdown in Egypt just felt like the first movie's Qatar battle, which is one of my favorite scenes. Still, at least it cut back and forth with the battle with Devastator and the Fallen.
I'll be seeing it again!
