I've always loved old Starscream. His voice makes him.
or french...
Or Australian.
Or Russia, The Netherlands, Luxembourg, Czech Republic, Cuba, South Korea, North Korea, Taiwan, Croatia, Chile, Panama, Slovakia, Slovenia, Laos, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Malaysia, New Zealand, Iceland, Parguay, Phillipines, Samoa, Thailand & Serbia. It's a common combination really.
I like Starscream, most G1 characters were one dimensional, but he acually displayed a real personality.

But the fact that he won't freaking stop is another insight into human nature, and another lesson he can teach us. KNOW WHEN TO QUIT! I've met a lot of people who didn't know when to quit. Either they're in denial, hopelessly optimistic, or they just refuse to accept it.
The fact that you're trying to figure out human nature from a character from an '80s Kids Show, is just...sad.
There was no philosophic/social commentary in there. You're looking WAY too deeply into it.
You are starting to sound a bit patronizing about a show that eventually exploded into a worldwide fandom consisting of kids and adult as well as a PG-13 movie in the making!![]()
This is sci-fi stuff and good science fiction characters keep getting new info added to them, making them more and more interesting and yes, MORE multi-layered over the years - both by the creators and fans alike. That is what made characters like Starscream so fun and memorable.
Thank you, Screambug. I agree totally.
I realize fully this was just a kid's show, but you must realize something Shadowman, this show was writen by human beings. And if the past has taught us anything, it is that from Beowulf to Star Wars, writers put parts of themselves into their stories and charachters. Starscream is no exception to this rule.
Read the Death of Arthur, by Mallory, and you will start to understand a work of fiction that was infulenced by those who wrote it and their lives.

Indeed. I enjoyed it quite a bit more than most TF series, including G1 (because of bad old animation and lame dialogue/storylines). AND Starscream gets his day in the sun. Or...solar system...or whatever.

Starscream is certainly in my top 5 of all time.
Probably number 3.
Right after Prime and Galvatron.

I am going to interject something here that I feel has relevance to the topic of humanity in children's shows.
It is not an uncommon thing to happen in reality. Nursery rhymes are quite often something political or related. For example, ring around the rosie is actually describing the symptoms of the bubonic plague. I shall explain
Ring a-ring a-Roses: this describes the mark or the "plague token" it was a bright red mark that had a sort of ring around it. If you had this mark, you had the plague.
A pocketful of posies: at the time of the plague which was 1665 and ended sometime in 1666 (I am referring to the one in London England which was pretty severe) the pollution was really bad. Human wastes were simply tossed out window without regard. Proper sanitation was unknown. The river Thames was a cesspool. The posies were small bouquets of flours or pouches of potpourri that was use to sniff on occasion to freshen the air when one went past some of the stench.
'Tissue 'tissue: is the sneezing fits that occurred when one was close to death and..
We all fall down! Is exactly as it describes. Falling down--dead. People with the plague dropped stone dead while running around half mad with terror.
It is considered a childrens game/song, but it has real relevance at the time of its creation. I do feel that even with childrens cartoons, the writers attempt to sort of educate the children through the stories. Real life instances may be reworked so it is not picked up immediately.
The G1 Cartoons sounds a lot like an old war propaganda reel. Cheer for the good guys and BOO to the bad guys!
I think that's all I can add.

See? If you keep an open mind, you can gain valuable life lessons from just about anywhere.
Life can be pretty sweet when your alt-mode is a B-2 Stealth Bomber.
