A lot of Marvel writers where involved in the Development of the Transformers storyline. That is why Stan Lee's opinion is important.

James Cameron is my favorite director. What I think would come out of him making the movie is that it would have a bit more grit. It would be less campy. Less attention would be paid to it being "a Kid movie in adult clothing". I don't feel that he would try to make it anything like Terminator. He didn't make Aliens like Terminator. He didn't make Independance Day like Terminator. This assumption is just silly. And he certainly wouldn't make it like Titanic.

But something that he is known for that this series definetly needs is definition and sophistication in the villians. The Decepticons could sure use a dose of that in this series. And James knows very well how to make a memorable villian.

However, as the movie buisness goes, it is likely to be Michael Bay again.

Umm....

You do realize that Titanic is probably the ONLY movie with any romance in it that James Cameron did right? Unless you count the well balanced parts of ID4 had when it came to that.

It's Nem using his favourite quote to end her arguments. Nothing more.

One of the things I would like to point out is that Bay is known for making very stylish and action packed movies. just look at the Rock, The Island, and Armageddon...these movies are larger then life.

I think this is what they needed to revitalize The Transformers and bring them to the big screen.
Bay did a very good job considering everything. It could have been far worse.

I agree witjh what Stan Lee said about the movie being thin on the plot and missing some of the main themes from G1 and the movie as in Megatron't motivations and Starscream's ambitions.

However you have to take into account that when the idea of taking the transformers to the big screen was presented movie producers and studios were skeptical. I mean how do you make a live action film with giant robots and not screw it up or make it ultimate cheese?

I think Bay and Spielberg were cautious and this is why the movie is as it is. However they were smart enough to add many elements into the movie that open up so many possibilities in the sequels. I t hink their caution paid off.

With Megatron being shown in cybertron form only and seemingly destroyed they now have options on how to re-make him. Who knows maybe now he will be some sort of cannon and look less like a bug. With Bumblebee being able to go from old camaro to new camaro some of the transformers can become differenct in T2. WIth the success of Optimus maybe now they will bring back Welker and let Cullen do some of the other voices. Having hinted at Megatron's displeasure when Starscream showed up, the second film can be ripe with conflict within the ranks.

What I am trying ot say is that now they can let loose especially that the movie has recieved such a warm welcome from both old school fans and people who did not grow up with the cartoons.

I have a feeling that T2 will focus more on the autobot vs decepticon conflict with the people except for Sam and Mekaila and some military dudes being relegated to support roles. I don't see 3 storylines in the next one, but maybe 2. There is no need for sector 7 or any of the intorductions since that is now out of the way.

I am happy that Bay did not screw this up, that he openned the Transformers universe to so much future potential and that he will now feel happy and more at ease knowing that people have accepted the new designs and that it worked on the big screen and did not flop.

With that in mind I see the sequel being even better.

ohhh i feel better now, but still marvel movies for the most part suck eggs. and what diglyd said x 2 this movie was great due to the fact they were able to give the audience who mostly know nothing about transformers soo much info and still give the fan boys for the most part exactly what they want, and then open it up to a kick butt part 2 or even 3. i honestly cant see any director do this with out having the move get to full of itself and preachy. and if you think transformers was to long why would u think peter jackson would be a good fit, king kong anyone we wouldnt see any transformers untill the last 10 minutes of the movie. i know i am bieng harsh to a couple of great directors but im just trying to make a point every director has thier weak point i just think bays style matches the transformers alot better then most.
