Hey, I've been wondering something, when Optimus Primal absorbed the energy of the matrix, and became Optimal Optimus, did he essentially become a Prime?

I guess technically not. If I inherited someones war badges, it doesnt elevate me to their rank.

I'm pretty sure you have to go through all the ceremonies before becoming a Prime, you can't really skip them just because you happened to snatch another Prime's spark.

If he had kept it longer he would probably have turned into a Prime.
If you watch the episode carefully you can see that he keeps picking up traits from Optimus Prime while he has his spark.

Are you asking if he's turning into a Prime or the Prime?

If a Prime, I say no. Being a Prime is not dependant on whether or not you look like one. Look at Rodimus, Ultra Magnus, Alpha Trion, and indeed all the previous leaders.

If into the Prime, I'd say maybe. He's just exhibiting a few of Primes traits because, obviously, Prime's spark is right there inside him.

For me there is only one true Prime Optimus Prime!
I would love a what if in which he just keeps his Spark and gets confused as who he really is Primal or Prime.

I say, yes, he DID become a Prime for the short time he bore the matrix. I mean, nobody passed the matrix to Hot Rod officially in the movie, and he did become Rodimus Prime.

That is, when we count the rank "Prime" as the matrix-bearer, not as the rank in TFA.
