Why would anyone want this thing? Sure it has 16GB of onboard memory, and bluetooth, but it also features a smaller screen, and no UMD drive. I guess thats fine for a budget model, but sony announced $250 as the price! I think I'll stick with my PSP 2000 model!

The Happy Locust wrote:Not having a PSP, I'm not the best person to give an opinion, but I find the loss of a UMD drive to be a big mistake. Having memory for downloaded games is a great idea (you should see my virtual console game list), but giving up physical media destroys all possibility for game resale and brick-and-mortal sales, making this a bad industry movie (though probably to Sony's benefit). For current users, this has 2 major reasons against upgrading though. One: any games the player already has are no longer viable due to being unable to read the disc. Two: UMD movies are another loss to this (not exactly a major loss but for those invested, its a kick in the pants).
Of course, I felt the same way about the DSi not having a GBA slot.
Cormaster628 wrote:Also anyone who wants one keep in mind, 16GB isn't a whole lot when an average UMD game is around 1 to 1.5 GB. you'll fill that 16GB quick!

To be fair, though, if you delete a game off of your PSP after buying it on the PlayStation Store, you can download and play it as many times as you want.
On a related note, the original Metal Gear Solid is coming to the PlayStation store. Considering the PSP doesn't have controller ports, or PS1 memory card, or rumble, it seems like this would have some side effects when fighting Psycho Mantis.

And I already know about PSOne Classics, I've got Symphony of the Night, FF7, Spyro the Dragon, and Crash Bandicoot to my name. What I meant, is that Psycho Mantis can't be beaten like any normal enemy; he dodges everything you try to hit him with. The only way to beat him is to switch the controller to the second controller port. Seeing as how the PSP doesn't have controller ports, it seems like it would cause a few side-effect.
Also, before the fight, Mantis would show off his psychic powers by describing your playing style so far, (How you've dealt with traps and enemies) naming the games on your memory card, and making the controller move by having you set it on a hard surface, and making it move. No rumble on the PSP, no PS1 memory card, either.

If you're going to, get Twin Snakes on Gamecube (Or the original PS1 if you prefer), and Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence, rather than Snake Eater. Subsistence, while not changing the story, happens to include the original Metal Gear, and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, both of which are canon, and brought up many, many times. Metal Gear Solid 2 also has a somewhat similar version called Substance, but that doesn't include anything major except for a skateboarding game (Not part of the story) a few VR missions, and happens to be the only Metal Gear Solid game on Xbox.Cormaster628 wrote:But that boss fight does sound impossible without the ports.
In Metal Gear Solid 4, Mantis makes a cameo where he attempts to read your memory card, only to find he's incapable of reading the PS3's hard drive. If you're using Sixaxis rather than Dual Shock 3, he'll be irritated that he can't use his telepathy to move your controller. It was a really awesome scene.

Psycho Mantis repeated disregards the fourth wall. Although he's not the only one, it's questionable at times if there even IS a fourth wall. (Such as Otacon telling Snake to change discs, only to realize that, unlike MGS1 and Twin Snakes, MGS4 is on dual-layered Blu-Ray, and there's no need for a second disc)
