Good day,
Just a question on reissues. I was curious as to whether the value of the Masterpiece depends on whether a toy was a first run production or a reissue. I was very excited to get an offer for a MP Megatron reissue without that stupid orange tip, and wondering if I should buy another.
Also, given the well-known problems of the MP Megs, anyone know if they've done anything to fix these problems in the reissue? If they have, it's another incentive for me to buy my second and play with that instead of the one I now have.

This isn't a reissue. This might be the second run of the figure, but it definitely won't affect value in the long run. Right now, you see insanely priced eBay auctions for him and they get it. Why? Because he's nowhere to be found. Takara's firing up the molds for a repeat shipment (hopefully larger than their last one, I refuse to go eBay. The prices are atrocious.) kinda like Hasbro did with the Movie line figures and overwhelming demand. It pulled down the current prices on eBay, but as soon as the Movie line's over, and we move onto Animated, Classics/Universe 2.0, etc....the prices will go back up. Especially when the sequel hits theaters. If Takara does this right, everyone (if they work fast enough) should get their Megatron with plenty to spare on the market, but the prices will rocket (like they did with previous Masterpiece releases) once this next shipment of Megatrons disappear from the market.

From what we can tell, there has been no correction of the body in any way. If there is, we'll soon hear about it. As it is, I plan on studying mine *very* carefully and once I have him figured out, then I'll handle him like I do the other TFs.
Question for you...what problems is your's suffering from?

I think he is talking about the mystery of the rusting legs.

Thanks for your detailed reply, as always!
Mainly my gripe is the legs. My ankle joint seems to be loose, or at least, it's too loose considering he's got to support that enormous barrel.
Also the shoulder plates aren't fitted properly. I basically put it back really quickly and decided he was more for show than for play.
You know, I'm wondering if I'm along here but I really like my original G1 Megatron a lot better. Less fragile, still a challenge to transform, and has those extra accessories.

Oh yeah... I've heard about that one too! But in my case it's not happened yet. I'm not taking him out but damn, it's Singapore here, that means hot and humid! I can see that happening.
I'm wondering if putting these diecast metal toys in a dry box would be a solution?

my megs feet have started to rust. at first i thought it was just dirty and tried to wipe it off with my finger. upon closer inspection, i realized it was, in fact, rust. i live in central texas where the air is dry and i also have a dehumidifier in the room. i am not pleased.

Other collectors claim that WD-40 helps remove the tarnish. (that's what it is, not rust actually.)
We'll see if they corrected it on him.

ah y'know, i could see it being a bit of tarnish instead of rust. that would make me much much happier. when i get back home (out of town for the weekend) i'll have to see what i can do....
....or maybe not since i FINALLY got him posed in a position where he'll actually stay standing for more than a few seconds.

Guys and gals, I have said this once before in the MP Megatron thread concerning the rust. I wasn't kidding when i said going to a real gun store (or to an online one) and getting a cleaning cloth, and cleaner. That stuff works in preventing rust on the real things, it should do the same for the toy (on bare metal parts).
