I don't follow japanese series, but he is in IDW comic series now, with the same name, Big Convoy.

Here is part of his Beast Wars sourcebook description.

Yes the toy has a matrix in his chest that you can take out, as you can see from the photo.

YAAAARGGHHH!!! Briggs, you can be a PITA to a poor Beast Wars collector sometimes LOL. now YOU'RE derailing my plans to get Voyager Ironhide to spend some of my bucks in acquiring this... this magnificent beast Convoy *sniff* so beautiful... :sad:
