Robot Mode vs. Vehicle Mode? How Do You Display Your Transformers
Been thinking about this one, especially after so many have posted their own collections in a few threads. What are people's preferences on the notion of displaying their TFs in robot or vehicle mode? Do you mix them up? Only display robot mode?
Don't know if this is a truly interesting question or anything, but I've been considering asking it for awhile now and finally decided to do it.

I go back and forth. Right now, space is limited (Despite buying a new bookcase just a few weeks ago)so with the exception of the G1 repaint of Movie Jazz, they are all in bot mode. I could un-constrain space by using the bottom shelf, though, and have more in in alt mode.
Certain bots I have don't have quite the kick-ass alt mode they appeared to on the package, though, and will stay robots. The Titaniums are particularly guilty of that.

I display them in a mixture, depending on what looks best. For example, I have cubby shelves which hold two Alternators each, one robot and one vehicle. My Alt buying strategy lends itself to this, since I limited myself to one repaint per mold, so you can see the vehicle and the robot form of each type.
My G1 collection is mostly in 'bot mode. Wheelie is in vehicle mode and targeted by Shockwave's cannon.
The Beast Wars collection also has more in 'bot mode, though TM2 Megs and Cryotek crown the collection in dragon modes at the top.
Darth Vader, my only Star Wars Transformer, stays in Tie Advanced mode, since people usually won't even realize it's a Transformer till they're shown.
If I want G1 Megs in gun mode, I'll generally have Unicron holding him or some such so as not to give the impression of a real gun on display.

I usually display them all in Robot form, its easier to have more on display that way. However when it comes to my Alt/BT I have some doubles, in which case the BT is displayed in Alternate form because of the nicer paint app. But the Alternator goes in robot form because they can be posed better.
Though I have to admit that it can be hard sometimes, Cybertron had a lot of good alternate forms as does the movie line.

when i keep em in alt. mode, everyone thinks they're model cars; never suspecting how much of geek i really am
but i normally keep em in bot mode, cause that's when they really shine.

Thanks, Tweezy

For me it depends on wether its a repaint or a reuse of a different characters mold.Like my G2 Megatron and my beast wars 2 Megastorm. On my G2 shelf he is in robot mode and on my Beast Wars shelf he is in tank mode.

It depends. Especially on why I but 'em.
All my rodimus primes are in Alt and all stacked on top of each other from biggest (G1) to smallest (this chibi rodimus .... thing). Scourge and Cyclonus are in alt with guys sitting on them. BM Black Arachnia is in alt and is spread across G1 Hot Rod look-a-likes (also in alt). Primus, thanks to the space he takes up, is in alt. I have G1 origional Glvy in Alt (with Cybertron Uniron standing on top of him) with reissue in bot. I have a few KO Kabay Galvies also in alt. Finally, Energon Unicron in in bot mode while holding McDonald's Energon Unicron in alt mode.
Yeah, it really depends.

I keep my entire collection in one mode, but change modes every now and then. For instance, all my TFs are in alt mode now, but I'll probably switch them all to robot mode pretty soon. My one triple-changer (Classics Astrotrain) gets roughly equal time for each alt mode, and gets changed between them while the rest are in alt mode.
Of course, if I find myself running out of space, I'll probably switch to displaying them all in robot mode.

My G1 collection is almost all in bot mode, mainly to capitalize on space. All my other lines are in storage due to lack of shelves. I need some curios and display cases in a bad way

Vehicle mode for me gotta keep 'em in disguise. when i'm done posing them and haed of to sleep or work, I just put them in vehicle mode.
It works pretty wel, friends that are out of the loop think the are maisto model cars! But some automatically point out ratchet for some reason. Ratchet!!
