Should Hasbro or Takara do a Transformers Hearts of Steel Toyline?

Postby skywarp-2 » Sun Mar 11, 2007 10:31 pm

I was looking through some of the kitbashes in the Transtopis Website, and i'm very upset that TFmaster passed away, it scares me to know that I just turned 30 myself about 2 weeks ago. To die at that young an age and with a son is just horrible. My thoughts a prayers to his family...

Anyhow, i saw that there was this custom built enitrely by scratch from LOBO and it won 1st place at the Botcon 3-D section. it is very amazing and a stark likeness to Guido Guidi's artwork. So, One I want to buy that custom or find away to get it mass produced and in cheap prices..Dream.., Two, it's simply an amazing version of megatron and non "orange cap" required..

The Question is, should we have a Hearts of steele toyline, and mini comic to go along with it, or is the idea and line too historic in concept to appeal to young kids?.. If you look at other lines produced over the years, you have seen many variations of figures and characters done in this way and them sell remarkably well. But could the same idea and theory work for Transformers?.. Would this line work for collectors and kids? Let the intelligent and civil debates begin.

Congratulations LOBO, your a custom whiz..I want to see this in mass production someday!! Along with Prime and the rest of the designs from Guido..

Here is a link in detail:

And the Megatron, ahh eye candy at it's best!

I think the line is pretty clever and brings refreshing new molds. But I would suggest adding more characters to the line and do a few more comic series to drum up fans.

I agree, but thats where I think it would do well, but I remember past toylines that had no comic support, and which had just a toyline with a concept or Idea that did well. i was just thinking that if they did this line, Hearts of Steele, and included a mini comic from IDW, like those of the Armada line, that this series could do well. It would certainly go over well with parents, being that it involves history albeit, fantasy, but its set in a historical time, which could encourage young kids to be more interested in the civil War, or other areas of history..

Not to mention my reason, its got the most faithful and kickass megatron I've seen in a different form ever!! he's as close to the G-1 version and still has a gun canon, what a sweet idea.. and not to mention the whole, large experimantal tank thing, which is a cool idea in its self, it reminds me of the concept of Gierkreig, in which its set in WWII and they had tank walkers similar to star wars AT-ST.. which is cool..

Maybe if the comic series had been longer than four issues, fleshed out the story a lot more, and developed the characters further, then it could work out. I'd love to see that happen, but I doubt it will ever come to frutition :(

I'd love it. Have BB as a locamotive and the other autobots become train cars to hitch on him. Make the Insecticons, Astrotrain, Shockwave, and the seekers in their shown forms, and make Soundwave a train car for Astrotrain to pull with the casseticons becoming cargo. It would be up to hasbro whether or not to make Prime and Megs, but it would be a kickass line even without the leaders.

Why can't it work in reverse, Hasbro does the toyline, then the comics get renewed interest, and they commission a new series that on going?? that would be cool. It's not a far off dream, it just needs to be looked at from a financial stand point, and brought to the attention of Hasbro, at say the next Botcon?? Who has the balls to stand up and ask that question or supply the images of whats been done in custom form to visualize the concept better?

Michael Bay wasn't even gonna do Transformers the movie, until Steven Spielberg and Don Murphy showed him the Citreaon commercials and said it could be like thatr with CGI..

Sometimes it takes a good fan idea, or persistence to anyone who will isten to even get the ball rolling on a potential good idea.. why sit back and let them make all the ideas up, and just follow along with whatever comes out???I have a friend whose like that, he views the world as set, and nothing he could say or do could change anything..wether they acknowledge me and my ideas or not, at least it gets made.. and that is all I really want..

Ooh. Baaaaad comparison. Remember what happened after Bay took the job?

I do agree with what you're trying to say, though. Problem is, Hasbro takes the fans as a grain of sand, if not less. All we could do is run the idea by them. Even then, Hasbro may not want to. Especially with the movie coming out. All lines are on hold for the movie and they probably will be for almost a year. I don't think Hasbro will make something that will sell better than the movie toys, as Paramount would claim that they were at fault for a profit loss.

Yeah true, but I can wait, and I would at least feel better with a rejected idea, then one that was never presented in the first place, simply because I was sure it would be ignored..whats better, to die trying or live in fear or cowardice? I choose to try, for if I try and fail, oh well, I will at least know my answer and can move on to something else..

I wish my friend could do that, but he's not able too..paranoia, fear, and doubt, mistrust.. they circle his being to the core.. I understand its his family.. but come on!! I run ideas like this by him all the time, he's one of those.. if it's not official, I don't want it..types

I have to vote no on this one. That mini-series was horrible, which was surprising to me since I love Chuck Dixon's writing.

Dude, this kind of thing is EXACTLY what the Titanium line is for - a look at different visions, as well as a reimaging of old characters.

If more characters were added to the Hearts of Steel line, who should they be? And what should the alt mode be? Keep in mind that all of these designs are pre-World War I.

Some of the titaniums are well designed. Yes RID Prime and The Fallen suck, but thats not the whole line. Don't be so quick to judge(unless you have bought the whole line so far and have a website full of your reviews). :P

Its something I'd like to see, but it's also something I cant really see ever happening. The seires is too short, the charecters too few, the majority of them are more differnet than they hav ever been before, and simply it isnt well enough known.

I have the same response for RiD Prime. I know most people complain about it being more than half plastic but the design? Awesome! Have you tried posing it? Awesome, I say!

The only two that really need a swift kick in the ass are GI Megs, cheetor and WW Starscreams head and paintjob. All of the others are well worth the money. Sure Fallens, arm cannons are made of rubber and you have to take them off and swap them for vehicle mode, but thats a minor set back at best. Fallen has the most detail yet poured into him, not to mention that it is the heaviest and tallest of the bunch.

As for the HoS making it into a toy line. I personally wouldn't want to see Hasbro waste their money on what was an awful comic book. The design sketches were good, but that was about it. So for me, I'd say no.

If they were to go ahead and make more comic book transformers into Titaniums, I would like to see the Megatron that transformed into Destros Flying tank-a-majig. That thing was awsome looking.

yeah i wanted to see a HISS tank transformer for quite awhile, but I can't stand the titanium series, its just not very feasable, their paint chips easily, they don't stand up well, and they are kinda small..do it like the alternators, or classics (Iguess) and then maybe I'll buy good comicbook transformers.. but those titanium, gotta go..

I like the Titaniums, but they need to make them mostly plastic with Die-cast highlights. That to me would clear up a lot of the problems. That and better joints in the arms and legs. I don't like GI-Joe very much, but I would buy a line of just strait up Transformers/GI-Joe. They could include a Joe with the Transformer, or for the Joe heavy fan have the Transformers packaged like the Marvel legends stuff. You know, buy the six in the line and build Bumblebee from one of the cross overs (I'm thinking the bike and side car one.) I think that would be pretty interesting and would sell well.

No Hearts of Steel. I disliked the story after the first several pages. After the initial excitement of those first pages, it quickly became mind-numbing IMO. If they made any of them, I'd take a bumblebee or the pre-earth forms. Otherwise no.

I absolutely adored the HOS designs, so original!

Though I doubt they would do a full line for it, the designs lend well to something like the 6' Titanium figures. If they do the warship Shockwave I'd buy it in a heartbeat!
