Yeah... 3rd party products has a lot of benefits to Hasbro. First FP protector help sell their rodimus, PE Frenzy & Rumble show a nice contrast to Hasbro's counterpart so that people haf more faith in Hasbro's product and even if Hasbro don't plan to compete, 3rd party products generate hype around TF toys = lure more potential consumers into the market. So I think pretty much a win-win for them.

I think Igear is playing smart...They know TFU/Henkei Ratchet n Ironhide are very rare now so if they plan not only to come out with a custom head and accessories but instead with an entirely new figure, then I guess is a pure win and buy for Igear!

I'd rather pay more for a 3rd party new figure than going to ebay and fork out xtra cash to scalpers who list Ratchet at $120 but bought them at $32...

From what I observed so far, toy prices usually go through a series of patterns. First there is the (for a handful of department stores like Metro) 20% discount or none followed by a long stretch of no discount (at all stores). After 2-3 months, toys will likely go for the 3 for $50 (to clear stock). After using that tactic for a while, they will realise that not many people want to buy any more, they will then reduce to the $13.90 to $16.90 price range.

That's just my prediction. I'm also betting that the GSS won't affect the price of movie toys since they are riding on the movie's coattails, which is slated to screen during end june to most of july.

Few popular figures from wave 1 won't survive till the discount time but there will always be repaints & remoulds. And later waves tend to have better QC. So I'm crossing my fingers and waiting for the price to drop, better QC and better remoulds/paint jobs =D Just a prediction though heh...

TRU Forum has limited quantities of the semi-transparent deluxe Ironhide and Sideswipe on the pegs. They cost more than the usual deluxes at $29.95.

Anyway, so far only Metro and JL (for card members) give 20% discount to DOTM toys.
