I dont think many people are going to be siting there thinking why are they speaking English. People after all sat through Star Wars, a movie whos bad guys not only spoke English but with an actual English accent. Not only that but this is a movie based on a show where all the robot spoke Human, most casual viewers would more likely be expecting them to talk in English. As far as adding a realm of realism goes, you could call it that, but how am I expected buy into the fact that the "bad" robots destest humans to the point of not wanting to speak their language but yet take on human forms to begin with? Bottom line is this is a movie about giant alien robots, so realism is limited at best. Im much more concerned with being entertained than having everyting be "realistic", and as far as Im concerened it would be more entertaining to have the robots have more dialogue and actual voice acting.

it makes perfect sense that they speak in cybertronian. if they made the cartoons speak in cybertronian sometimes, then you would always have to read what they are saying. and in comics..they obviously will speak in english as no one can read cybertronian! in the movie, it makes sense that they speak in their own language as it adds realism and thats what MB was going for. its like if us humans went to cybertron, we would speak in english because that is our language.

Mangatron - I'm not sure that cast list was for the movie's final roles, just mostly stand-ins or game voices. After all, Keith David is not listed as Barricade.



As for the whole "it's realistic that they're aliens so why would they speak English?" side:

I agree. And it's not the Decepticons I'm worried about. I knew they weren't gonna say much. Fair enough.

It's the autobots. Cybertronian is lame because it doesn't add to their personalities for the audience. Subtitles I'll accept, but I wish an English voice would express it for us in character-based terms, but if we see subtitles and it still gets their characters across, with wry or sarcastic humor, fair enough.


But I want at least a line each from every autobot, that conveys everything about their well known (to us) character, in plain modern English. The Con's being more distant with the subtitled alienese works, but the Bots are here with us via Sam and I want to know them.

The Autobots, as I recall, don't speak Cybertronian because the majority of the time they're with Sam so they use english.

BB speaks after the final battle. Whatever happened during the battle or the course of the movie apparently fixed his vocal circuits. There's plenty of theories that could explain it from psychological trauma to physical damage and something being knocked back into place.

If Ironhide sounds like he does in the game, I think he's perfect.

Ironhide would have been my second favourite voice and character in the movie (Barricade coming in first)

And now that I think of it, I don't know why Stacream and Megatron talk in english, probably because the movie is moving fast at that point and sub-titles just wouldn't keep up.

Does BB still say "Go Sam" during the battle? And also, if he's speaking after the battle, I suppose we could assume Ratchet was finally able to fix him. My thoughts on the "why doesn't ratchet fix BB's voice" was always that they didn't have the rescources to while in space, but after landing on earth they did...and Wa-La!

BB doesn't speak until after the battle. (Unless I missed the "Go Sam") As far as I know Ratchet doesn't fix him so I just assumed it was something in the battle that fixed something (maybe it was a psychological thing and the defeat of Megatron cured it)
