Welcome to the General Discussion area where just about anything goes! This area is designed to discuss all matters and does not necessarily have to be Transformers related. Please keep topics relevant.

So I'm bored and it's the start of a New Year...

... What an excellent time to do something ridiculously stupid, like enlist my fellow Seibertronians in helping me come up with a list of 100 things to do this year. In aid of 'broadening my horizons' so to speak. I've realised lately that throughout my relatively short years, I haven't really done anything particularly engaging other than the university experience and I didn't do much there either, unless you count getting drunk and waking up next to some bird I'd rather had not had the pleasure... Alas, I digress.

What I'm looking for is a list which will not only keep the creeping arm of boredom from my door, but will also genuinely enrich my irksome life for the better.

The only things that you have to bear in mind is: that I'm a penniless graduate, six months out of university and still working to pay off my bloody overdraft facility, ie don't think of anything which is ridiculously expensive; I'm only half way through learning to drive so no means of personal transport other than a bike; I'm in a relationship so no prostitution business; and my location, which is Manchester, England.

Throughout the year I will keep you updated and cross out individual tasks as I go.

To give you a rough idea of the kind of thing I'm talking about, I have already thought of a number of things I could do myself.

1) Complete the IMDB top 100.
2) Give blood.
3) Travel overnight somewhere on a whim.
4) Pay off my overdraft.
5) Get published somewhere reputable.
6) Send a card for every friend/family birthday.
7) Get a qualification in something other than my degree.
8) Join in with a busker.
9) Write a letter to a stranger.
10) Quit Facebook for a month.
11) Buy tickets to see a band I know nothing about.
12) Win something.
13) Go to an overnight festival.
14) Buy a stranger a drink.
15) Bake my own loaf of bread.
16) Start learning a new language (French).
17) Start a protest.
18) Watch the complete works of Monty Python.
19) Read the collected works of William Shakespeare. And enjoy them!
20) Donate some time to charity.

16. Dress as a frenchman and then go streaking during a Manchester United game.
17. Sit in a park and listen to music as loudly as possible
18. Time yourself on how long it takes to ride your bike to Birmingham, if unsatisfied, try again to beat said time
19. Buy a meal at one restaurant and go eat it at another.
20. Look up obsolete laws and ordinances that no law man would charge anyone for and make a list of how many you have broken and give the list to a bobby and asked to be charged.

Okay, those were some pretty cool suggestions from Editor... although I'm not sure about taking my bike out 'on the road' so to speak. Being in Canada you have no idea what the roads are like in the UK, believe me if you did you'd admit that it is a terrible suggestion which would probably end up with me as roadkill!

You other two can piss off with your ridiculous notions. :-P A monkey indeed...

Saying that Fender Bender, you have given me an idea after your mention of Manchester United. I am unfortunately a City fan who has never attended a derby match, so perhaps one of my goals should be to attend a Manchester United vs Manchester City football game.

Indeed you should. A City vs United match would be awesome to see. As for my knowledge of British roads, for shame sir.

I am Bristol born and on the last few trips over I have been up to Scotland and thru the middle of Wales, driving thru Manchester just outside of rush hour between the two. (I can say I've been to Old Trafford but really, we just drove pass it) There is some great roads out there for you to peddle. Just watch that you don't pick a road Clarkson is on while filming Top Gear.

Bristol indeed, pah! =;

From what I can garner from Teachers you Southern types have little to fear road-wise. Mancunian roads actually terrify me...

Oh, and I should defend my decision to not include your suggestion to watch all of Red Dwarf. Very easy: I'm an ex-student, so therefore I have already done it on numerous occasions!

Do as you will, but a good old fashion road trip can be a good thing.

Red Drawf is simply a possibility, easily swapped with other shows. I for one a little while ago rewatched all of Spaced over a week-end. The possibilites (depending on your tastes) are endless, but then again, why not retry watching something you didn't like the first time to see if you find it any better. Or watch something you decided against before and see if its as bad as you expected it would be. Sometimes you can surprize yourself.
