Jazz is a poser! I knew it!

I demand that the sequels give other genres of music equal culture time. I want to see a Country-style Kup ( hillbilly old timer! ), a Pop-influenced Hot Rod ( I bet he starts a boy band ), and a head banging Metal thumping version of Grimlock ( Me Grimlock like mosh pit! ).

I can see you are quoting the Simpsons so I aint gonna flame ya.:) I really didn't like Jazz's mannerisms in the LAM much either. It would have been good if Phil La Marr was casted, he has proven many a time that his Voice acting is top class (Justice League). But as far as making funny TF/Pulp Fiction/SOAP related quotes goes Samuel L Jackson as Jazz would be the greatest thing ever.

1.) Stupid to rip-off the Simpsons. Come up with original material.
2.) Jazz was the brotha Transformer in G1

1. That was the point.
2. No duh. Thank you Captain Obvious.

i feel like writting a capslock induced reply. v_v

Why do you guys hate me so much V_V

you make me wanna cry...

To be completely honnest. I didnt mind him so much, I prefered his G1 approach at things and i will always be a loyal Jazz G1 fan... but like i said, i didnt mind his movie self.

I guess its because we've never seen jazz since G1 and i apreciate the fact they tried. There have been so many transformer series' and never Jazz and that sucks the most.

EDIT: this thread seems like only the haters of Hip Hop will reply. >_> Lame. I dont like hip hop, and still appreciated Jazz.

I have nothing against Hip Hop, but I do not enjoy seeing stereotyped characters especially a Transformer.

HAH! HAHA! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

*falls down on the floor laughing*

Just what do you think, I dunno, most of the Transformers characters ever are?

Optimus Prime-"I'm like, John Wayne, but a Semi Truck robot"
Grimlock-"Me Grimlock SMASH! GRIMLOCK KING!"
Kup-"99% of old people tell ridiculous stories. OH MA' BACK!"
Arcee-"Woman are caring and annoying and wear pink!"
Blaster and/or Jazz-"early 80s popular lingo will always sound current! ROCK ON, WEIRD AL STYLE!"

They're all fun characters, but shining examples of originality? I don't think they could be much less. Hell, the original G1 cartoon designs are just reasonably ungimped looking versions of 5 year old Japanese toys even.

Personally, I found Jazz to be a logically modernized version of the original, even if the limited dialogue we got made him out as a bit ridiculous. He had very little time to come across as anything more than just the break-dancing and slang.

Carbsmith is right. These characters have always been stereotypes. All fictional characters are based upon certain stereotype, or, more accurately archetypes. They have to be. Every writer of fiction, when they design a character, starts with a simple two-dimensional concept for each character called an archetype—the young, naive hero, the girlfriend, the veteran, the hotshot, the femme fatale, etc.— and then builds upon it, fleshing it out. However, they can't flesh a character out too much or else the audience can't identify what type of character they are, and what their purpose to the story is, or their personality.

But it isn't harmless and it isn't the same.

There is a difference between stereotyping a character such as Optimus Prime with John Wayne and stereotyping a race (also known as racial discrimination).

They weren't stereotyping a race. They were modernizing a specific character.

I'm not a huge fan of cussing and such, but (and I didn't catch this til the second time) when Jazz first transfroms and says, "what's crackin' little bitches?" I lost it. It sounded so much like something my old boss would've said. They definitely did a stereotype character, but he was one to begin with. They updated his stereotype to a more modern style, and I think it worked pretty well, except for the "you want a piece of me" was kinda lame compared to the G1 Jazz using words like "shenanigans".

XD lol.. but can you imagine if he actually DID say shenanigans at that scene? How LAME would THAT be? XD

I thought it was extremely heroic and kinda typical for a hero bot to say that sort of thing. Its certainly better than the average "Hot shot" thing to say which is "Ohhhh yeah?!?"

THATS LAME.

Something like "bring it on (insert roboticized term of slander)" would've been a little cooler. But yeah, I'll take "you want a piece of me" over the standard yelling any day.

He couldn't have called him buckethead. Let's see.....how about "ugly pile of crap that doesn't resemble anything"? :P

It's not stereotyping black people anyway, its stereotyping the entire hip hop/rap culture.

If you are offended by a few lines in a movie then you really need to get your priorities in order..

Newsflash to those not getting the joke: It's from the Simpsons. It's something their portrayal of Bill Cosby said about JAZZ MUSIC. I'm applying it to Jazz since he didn't act like G1 Jazz, and was a pain in the arseholes. I think Writers were off having sexy time or something. But seriously. It's a joke. I cannot BELIEVE I've had to explain this to some people.

I knew it was SOMETHING about Bill Cosby.

I'm not very good at guessing obscure Simpsons references.

But he didn't act like G1 Jazz because it wasn't G1. I can't make it clearer.

 I'm aware that it's not bloody G1 Jazz! The joke is simply a parody of Bill Cosby, commenting on Jazz from the movie, and why people who don't like the character keep going on about why it isn't their Jazz.

Because all Black guys have to be rappers now. They can't be rockers. That's just wrong. And blues musicians don't exist anymore.

You think the fact that he's called "Jazz" would be clue enough as to what kind of black guy he was meant to be. Seriously, how dumb and bastardised can you get. That's the problem with the movie though; almost everything is bastardised and MTV-ised.

I took from it that Jazz really cared about Bumblebee. Seemed to me like Jazz cared more than Prime did.
