Speed up the alt rotator to once a week?

It's more likely to be later. And I don't see him being over-zealous, just keen to reclaim something he had that was lost due to a flood.

The game is designed to be like an RPG, each character has their attributes and modes. For those that like to make it as close as possible not having the right alt gets to be disappointing. For me, I like to write fanfiction when using a character I can refer to the alt for looks, shapes and sometimes the bot mode to help give depth to the story.
I know that not all the alts are available to all factions but I would like get ones I can in place.

Re: Speed up the alt rotator to once a week?
here's tyher bare bones of my argument;
doing a quick spin, or open datatbase and then going back to a slower rotation
1. Hurts nobody
2. does not damage the game
3. Increases player retention/decreass dissatifaction with the reset.
so we get a positive thing with no negative side effects.
Why not do it?

Honest the first week I had the game open I would have given everyone their choice of any alt in the game regardless of side.
Leave it like that for a week or two then go to the standard rotations.
I am thrilled that two of my customs are at least Decepticon alts so I can attach them to their respective characters eventually.

I have 28 custom seekers, just counted, plus another five or so that still need to be finished. I also have another I think 2 dozen real seekers. My unique seeker collection is I think close to 60.

I would like the alt-mode rotator to be sped up temporarily. When I was busy recreating my characters and trying to find an alt-mode that'd best fit them yesterday, I was not particularly happy with the current offerings. For example, there was only one fast air animal alt-mode available. And I was like, "I can't do that to Erudition..."

And nobody likes an ass.
Maybe people could choose other alt modes? Many of them look similar anyway, in particular a lot of the jets, with only the angles differing.
I lost everything too, I had NO back-ups of bios or anything, but I'm not bothered by it. I also had the age-old Soundwave alt mode attached to one of my characters, as well as the Shockwave alt I do believe. When I read that the game would be completely reset, I didn't really even consider it. CARING so much for a character BASED ON A PRE-EXISTING UNIVERSE is just... I don't even want to describe it, but it could almost be compared to the masses of Sonic the Hedgehog fans that edit old sprites from the 16-bit games and pass them off as "original characters", with them having "copyrights" and whatnot.
I'm not saying that you can't put effort into the fiction, I'm just saying that it's a fan-made game based on a toy franchise, nothing more. Don't worry so much about it, rewrite your characters slightly if you can't live with them having the "wrong" alt mode. Incorporate something about an upgrade, or a damaged bodypart, a reformat or whatever. It's not a big deal.
It also makes sense NOT to have everything available from the start from a game designer's standpoint; people should be rewarded for sticking around, ESPECIALLY in a game like this.
I'm really sorry for ranting, but please understand, I'm just trying to get my point across; if your characters are conformed to the game, don't expect the game to conform to your characters. If Omega Sentinel is willing to speed up the rotation process, you should be thankful. Personally, I do agree that 8 weeks is far too long to wait for the common alt modes, I just disagree about instant availability, and even one week seems too soon to me as far as the actual rotation goes.

well we are bothered and it is a big deal to us.
i think we've stuck around quite a while already; 5 years 1 month here, why should i have to wait another 10 weeks for an alt modes i've had for the last 3 years?!
you say don't worry about, well why don't you stop worrying about us worrying about it and let us have our alts
HOW DOES THAT HURT YOU?
cos not having our alts is hurting us
what are you compelled to piss all overs creativity?
if it's just a game to you, let us have our fun, after all it's only a game to you

Yeah. Having stuck around for five years, I didn't expect to be rewarded with a reset. At least gaining some semblance of what my team used to be still leaves me at a net loss. Unless you personally would suffer from people trying to regain something they'd worked towards for some time, then why are you against it?

Most of my team has bios, and they all have specific alts or types of alts that they should have.
Dreadspawn in particular has used the thrust alt for nearly his entire existence, and it has become part of what he is.
Thanks to my verious tournies and games, and Jeep!'s TF:Extinction fictions a lot of my charecters are ingrained as they are, and I do not want to change them.
Now, unfortunetly, my position is weakened as far as my chances of getting the alts I want becuase Im a pred with a largly mechanical team, but that dosnt mean I dotn want to get as many of my team's alts back as possible.
Now, you say you have to 'earn' the alts back eh?
How about this, I have run countless tourniments and games, I have helped Sustain with her xp tables in the past, and will be doign it again, my team, pre flood, worked it's way up to 16th, and included a lvl 10 charecter. I HAVE earned the right to have a few nice pictures for my charecters I think.
And my final point: IF YOU DO NOT LIKE PEOPLE CREATING FICTIONAL CHARECTERS, DEVELOPING THEM AND BECOMING ATTACHED TO THEM, GO PLAY A FIRST PERSON SHOOTER, NOT AN ONLINE RPG-LIKE GAME.

Fine, complain all you want. But remember; it's a 50x50 gif. Filled with a single solid color. If a blob of color over another blob of color is your ideal interpretation of your beloved fan characters, I feel sorry for their fictional butts. I'm not going to bother anymore, because I feel you are either ignoring what I'm trying to say, or stalwartly refusing to atleast acknowledge it as a viewpoint. The biggest definite loss would be of experience points and levels, NOT a silhouette of a vehicle or weapon.

Well i'd be pretty bloody annoyed if I was still using CATalyst and I couldn't use his alt.
Considering Mkall (or Sharpwing, can't remember which) create that blob of pixels based on a picture of the kitbash.
And i'm sure Windracer would feel the same way as I do as she has a few blobs of pixels based on her drawings in there.
So yeah, it's perfectly understandable why people can be so defensive of these blobs of pixels because even if they're not based on a personal kitbash or artwork, many people have still used them to establish their characters.

And boy do we feel that loss, but there is no way for us to reclaim that, it's too much work for the staff to give us that back, especilly since it's all got to be taken on faith alone.
However, it is perfectly easy for them to open up the alt database one way or another to let us reclaim our alts.
And yes, it is a small picture with only one main colour, but it still looks like something.
Dreadspawn's alt should look like a vtol seeker, Vader's should look like G1 cyclonus.
And again the question is asked, what harm does it do to YOU? Apart from getting butt hurt for losing an argument, nothing is the answer.

I think you forget what kind of game this is. This is not a visual game with fancy graphics. With the only visual(well for most people who can't draw or do custom stuff) being that 50x50 gif and considering how many spend so many hours playing this, people just grown use to what little blob represents their character. Experience and levels can't be recover, but those gifs is probably one of the easier things from the old that can be recover with least amount of effort that OS and Mkall would have to do on them.
In the end its better for you to agree to disagree, cause I don't see much on the negative side.

Re: Speed up the alt rotator to once a week?
If I have to wait I'll wait, but to say that people need to be rewarded for sticking around is kind of insulting to most of the people here.
There are quite a few people here that have been with the game non-stop since the day it opened, some here perhaps since the entire site itself was in its infancy. Personally I've stepped away from the game for probably two and a half years total, but I was here when it started and did have a reasonably powerful team when it crashed.
The reset was without warning so people couldn't save bios or have even a final tournament to end the game right, or take pics of where your team was after their last fight.
Its not like the group is standing up and screaming hey I want my exp, armor, weaponry, bios, and logs returned.
You know the stuff that would take the poor programmer tons of time to do, and most likely would be completely impossible.
No they are asking if it would be possible just to speed up a normal event in the game so they can get a few alts that would make this whole reset just a little more palitable for them. Honestly its probably the smallest thing that could be asked for.
Its also probably something that can be done in one or two key strokes.
Does it effect the game and give people a unfair advantage over others no, Does it hurt anyone in even the slightest way...no, unless you get off on knowing that some player is using a alt that they completely hate because they don't really have a better option.
The only thing that it really does is make some of the players that have dedicated a lot of time to this game over the past five years just a little happier.
So even if it is trivia and just a small single color picture if increasing the speed of the rotation till the entire list has been cycled through makes people happy where is the harm in that.
Also some of the alts in the list aren't completely trademarked figures, but ones that people have actually spent weeks on making. I know if either of my customs were non-Decepticon alts I would be very upset.
This would be more a minor reward for those that have stuck around in spite of this reset
You should save your energy for a fight that really means something.
