no one noticed becase

- the action scenes were too badly edited to follow

- there is no concrete evidence that it happened

In Transformers he took advantage of the confusion in the skies to hide with the F-22s and take shots at Megatron, aiding in his death. You'll notice he's way out ahead of the human jets when he goes back into plane mode, then when the fireing starts a single F-22 far ahead of the pack fires the first missles that help finish Megatron off.

Eh? When I watched it it looked more like the Missile came from one of the jets behind him (StarScream was the first jet, yes?). It looked like he just kept running from the planes and didn't fire at all.
Though I do wonder why he wouldn't bother to help fight against Optimus, that could be a good coward sign.

I think the real reason is the writer's expected everyone to think of all the past StarScreams and assign this one the coward role as well.

I'd say yes and no. (if only watching the movies) he does show his cowardness, but not always his desire to rule by plotting behind Megs back. Now, if you read the prequal to ROTF, then yes he does show his desire to lead all over that book.

People who didn't notice Starscream taking pop shots at Megatron are in denial. Everyone was laughing their asses off in the movie theater the many times I went. I didn't know what it was about till my cousin said that more than likely Starscream was among those military jets. I don't see why the movie has to explain in every little detail what is what when a fan can point it out. LOTR movies are Oscar material, and yet, they also have little tidbits here and there just for the fans to pick up. People need to grow up and stop expecting to be spoon fed everything, especially a 2 hour movie that is concerning a fanbase of 20 or more years.

I noticed it about my second viewing, though, it seems impossible to confirm. My thinking is basically that if you want it to be Starscream, it is him shooting Megatron. But it wasn't focused on because to the average viewer, they don't care, and basically just understand that planes are shooting at the giant robot. You would literally have to see the plane transform and Starscream say something for everyone to understand, and clearly it's not that important.

One thing though, would the writers even come up with that? I mean, basically, aren't we just noticing ONE F-22 that flies over, and calling it Starscream? Isn't that basically just something being in the BG, and the chosen camera angle showed it? The writers wouldn't specifically put "Show shot from the ground, where you can just see one of the jets fly over Megatron. This is Starscream, but don't make it obvious."

I'm thinking this may be the reason why Screamer's gotten his tattoos. Avoid confusion like this. To reference ROTF on this matter: 'That's got tattoos all over it, that ain't friendly.'

One of the RotF prequals, I think its the Alliance shows Starscream getting the tattoos. I can't remember if its explained why though. :???: I'll have to read it again, my memory ain't too good. ;)

Or...it didn't look like it to them. It's a logical conclusion, I just haven't noticed it yet...I need to rewatch that scene. . .

I'd actually like to see Starscream return to his old G1 days and while in battle against Prime try to kill Megatron to claim leadership only to be destroyed (Yet again) by Megatron.

I would lik to make a correction, what i meant was:
TulioDude wrote:No,no fiction mentions him doing it,Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman never confirmed,Michael Bay never said anything, and his character does notseems act exactly like his G1 verison.

You seem to be taking this too much serious, and i will wait for a official confirmation, because its not the same as G1

When asked, weren't the writers all like:

"Yeah sure, if that's what you want to believe."

So really it could go eitherway?

The official term for that is the "Shrug of God."

I'm in the camp he did try to kill Megatron. I've seen that seen tons of times and watched it slowed down too. I know what I've seen. ;)
