I know this about the 86 movie but whenever I see "Insecticons" I get excited. But then I'm like "Oh, it's the crappy 3 again. Not the good ones" and the disappointment sets in.
As far the MOVIE line is concerned, those 3 that never appeared will never be.
However, their chances to appear in the regular Generations line are very high. Many obscure characters whose toys were locked in G1 were reborn in the recent trilogy.
Just wait a bit more.

On the other hand, when Hasbro did the Thrilling 30 toys of Whirl and Roadbuster, Takara did release those same molds as Whirl and Roadbuster in the Legends line, complete with even more 1985 toy-accurate decos.Nuclearxpotato wrote:The Deluxe Insecticons also suffer from Bandai licensing. TakaraTomy and Hasbro would be taking a huge risk by making new similar looking figures (which is probably why Chop Shop was made while Ransack and Barrage weren't)

If you're referring to the "main" 3 which were in the movie, I do see that happening, and soon.
Back 5+ years ago it was a general consensus that Hasbro wasn't ready (or willing) to put much into making characters with beast/creature/insect alt modes, if at all. Which seemed to at least partially explain why Predaking, Piranhacon, and Abominus had no chance during CW.
That door was opened back with PotP, and has been flung wide open with the Kingdom line and SS86 Dinobots (and even a few of the Headmaster reissues).
It also seems possible considering how few Decepticon characters are left (outside of what's been released from Siege, ER, and Kingdom). Especially ones that were in the movie.
I'm of the opinion that if Hastak is willing to make an Allicon and Sharkticon, then Insecticons are more than possible.
The one thing they have working against them is also one thing I really appreciate about them-- they're each very different from one another in terms of design, unlike the Datsuns, seekers, Ironhide/Ratchet, BB/Cliffjumper/Bugbite, and even Scorponok and B.Z.
However, my hope would be that new molds for characters like the Insecticons would be possible considering the multiple uses of many other molds as the ones previously mentioned (as well as the 4 Megatrons, 4 OP's, 21 Sideswipes, etc.).
I could see the Insecticons being made at legit deluxe class size (bigger than BB and Cliffjumper);
Being that SS86 is sticking very closely to the movie, Shrapnel sure seemed to be a decent size in the scene with Blitzwing, Kup and Hot Rod; even with some momentum from falling, he's big enough to send Blitzwing in tank mode tumbling backwards. Just doesn't seem like Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, or any other minibot would have the size to do that.
He does not mean those.Sowndwave76 wrote:Nuclearxpotato wrote:Maybe one day we'll get proper Deluxe Insecticons, but I don't see Hasbro ever seeing them as worthy of dumping the money for new molds.

Although I don't think those guys are too far off either...
Wouldn't surprise me at all if those happen in the next couple years.
Those 3 would add some nice variety when we get another OP, Megatron, and any other "popular" character. Even if it's someone like Blaster who is also due for an update, those bugs would mix-up it up a bit, and Hastak has to know this.

Oh man, and remember how they specifically made their advertisement mirror the original Bandai toys? Including Takor

G1 jetfire reissue when?!
Probably both.ZeroWolf wrote:Though with that, is it purely a bandai block or would Harmony Gold kick up a fuss

You do know we were talking about a hypothetical reissue of the Bandai-made, Harmony Gold-coveted, Macross Valkyrie G1 Jetfire mold, yes?chuckdawg1999 wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Probably both.ZeroWolf wrote:Though with that, is it purely a bandai block or would Harmony Gold kick up a fuss
Uhhh, maybe not. We might, might see things sooner than we think.

I've been in the game a long time. I know how HG rolls, but I saw somewhere that the Japanese company recoups the rights FROM Harmony Gold this year or next. Lemme look it up.

You're out of date, HG kept the rights and now they're all working together to bring unaltered Macross to the west.

Takara and Bandai working together would be like if Pepsi and Coke teamed up to make a new drink together.Rodimus Prime wrote:Yeah if G1 Jetfire was ever re-released, he'd be an instant buy. Probably 2 of him. I'm kinda shaking my head at these companies not realizing the potential profits and working together in exchange for splitting said profits.
