I'm starting to collect BW figures and I was just curious which ones are not painted or molded like their show counterparts so I can avoid them. One's that didn't appear in the show I'll pick up but I don't want to end up buying a crappy Rhinox or something.

Get the Japanese reissues, they are the closest to show accurate that you'll get.

Mind I'd save my money for toys that arnt as irritatingly bad as beast wars.

Eh nevermind. I'll just get the 10 Anni. releases and be done with it.

Damnable BW have to be so hard to collect.

EH, not really. Depends on your level of patience. The new Takara reissues are probably the closest you'll get to show accurate. The Primal/Megs 2 pack is fairly easy to get at Toys R us stores still from what I hear. Not near me, but hey. Hasbro's Tarantulus and Transmetal Rattrap are nice additions too. The rest can be a pain to get, both money-wise and patience. Specifically season one Rattrap. He's pricey all around. Trust me, I've been picking away at the show characters for about 2-3 years amidst all the other TF lines I enjoy. Of course I might be a lot more picky about condition than you. Best of luck man.

haha true dat. no more sold on stores unless you're very lucky, and most are on the net on skyhigh prices.

anyhow, for orig. BW series, get 10th anniversary Optimus Primal/Megatron 2 pack at TRU, they're the most show-accurate versions of the ultra-class figures to date. even primal has molded lips like the one from the show.

dinobot: get takara's release, i dunno if it's 10th anniversary or original, but i saw one version here on seib's galleries that has painted teeth, looking exactly like dinobot from the show.

rhinox: definitely 10th anniversary. much better painting compared to original. no "chain guns of doom" though.

Beast Wars are very hard to collect, but thats one of the reasons why I think I like that. That way I know that each one I buy I really want and is important to me and I'm just not buying one for the sake of buying one. Most of the them are available online you just have to search. BBTS, eBay, and Amazon are the best places to look. I don't think theres any of them that you won't be able to find on there.

I'm buying all the Takara re-issues just to get the best versions of each. Does the Takara Rhinox have the gatling guns? Cause those put Rhinox over the edge when it comes to being bad ass. I mean honestly, besides Tigatron and Airrazor, were there any Maximals on the show that weren't bad ass?

as far as i know, there is no rhinox with his "chain guns of doom" release, big bummer actually.

hey, speaking of bad-ass, yer forgettin' rattrap - i dunno what he is in season 2 (i also have the complete series but haven't watched it yet, currently finishing season 1) but in S1, he was like the smoothest smart-ass mouse ever - and he even kicks ass, AND is a demolitions expert to boot. witty punchlines also. 8)

even Tigatron and Airrazor got to be badasses eventually (white text so as to not put a spoiler for Zemper there-maybe unecessary)when they became Tigerhawk and tbh, I liked the chilled out Tigs. He was kinda Zen.
assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.
Also looking for Universe Repugnus and Overbite, Frostbite and Longhorn and any Webdiver toys.

Rattrap is indeed awesome, my friend. Is he really a demolitions expert? I never knew that about him cause I've never seen him blow anything up, lol. But seriously, the man is supremely witty and brought a lot to the show.

I really REALLY would like to find an S1 version of him to complete the S1 team, but it is litterally impossible to find. I've read that the mold was lost/destroyed and thats why his transmetal was reissued instead.

Have no fear, in Season 2 he's just as bad-ass. At the end of season 2 he makes tarantulas wish he was on another planet...

Sweet, theres something to look forward to when I get to the end of my season 2 DVDs. Tarantulas was the one character that just annoyed the s*** outta me. I don't know what it was about him, I just didn't like him at all.

I'll still buy him cause he's cool looking in both modes, but I don't like him, lol.

aaaghhh... i resisted highlighting your bleeped-out spoiler there craggy, but darn this "quote" mechanism!!! i can see what you wrote there - yargh!!!

but i'm glad both of 'em combined into the super cool tigerhawk! man, that's another BW fig i'd love to have. 8)

dude, rattrap is like, my grail of the BW line. can you imagine how much does he sell in eBay? $ 130 FREAKIN' dollars. c9 MOSC. can you believe that? i think that's the most expensive basic-sized fig since G1 days.

you really should watch season 1. there are a few episodes in which he blows stuff up; his forearms are basically storage compartments for c4-type explosives. pretty cool. 8) 8) 8)

Wow, Tigerhawk you say? Thats pretty damn sweet. I wonder how the hell that happens. Doesn't that kinda make them like Silverbolt tho?

Damn, I really wish Best Buy had season 1 in stock. I started watching it as a kid from the first season. Hell, I can still remember the first Primal/Megatron confrontation and the defection of Dinobot. But still, Rattrap with c4s? Hell yes!

$130?!?!?!?! I guess I will never EVER see a s1 Rattrap in my lifetime. Thats just too much money to pay for a basic TF not made of gold, lol. Maybe someday I will pick-up a half broken Rattrap off eBay and somehow fix it up. Maybe.

The holy grail of all Beast Wars he is.

I looked up Takara Rhinox (he's only $15 on BBTS!!!) and what the heck is he holding in his right hand?

we hate you. :P

just kidding.

but seriously, $130.00 is only for the MOSC C9 rattrap, because it has never been opened from its card. opened rattraps cost much less.

I want that so bad, but I cannot justify spending over $100 on a basic TF, no matter how awesome it is.

whiner-tron if you still have yours in good condition, I was triple what you paid for it and give you $15 for it. How about it? lol

haha, thats exactly the way I hope to find mine. Either an idiot who lists the name wrong or an idiot who doesn't know the true value of it.

well, we'll never know...maybe it was really a ratcrap...i see lots of original rattraps with either the tail or gun missing, but usually its the gun. you know how basic figs go.

dude, honestly, I think Takara or Hasbro should just go through the trouble and make a whole new mold for Rattrap. They could whore it out through the new Universe line, give it its exclusive release and give Rattrap a proper 10th Anniversary release.

I think collectors would go nuts for him....or maybe just us. BUT either way, it would be awesome. Don't you agree?

Well the one labeled as "Ratcrap" that sold for $5 was misb on a rocky bubble. I woulda bought it, but I thought it was a fake or KO because I didn't see up in the upper right hand corner of the card where it should of said "The Heroic Maximal"... it just said Rattrap

Needless to say, I was killing myself for not getting it
