Suggestions to add into my small Hotrod/Rodimus collection? (Pics Inside)

Postby Mura » Sat Sep 29, 2007 9:49 pm

Well, today my Commemorative Series Hotrod came in the mail. That makes 4 figures of the guy, in my collection. I'm interested in SDCC Alternators Rodimus, so he'll definitely be a future purchase.

Anyway, these are who I have:

I don't know what else to say except, damn.. I love the guy. :D

Weapon: Sword
Great start! Some future ideas are Energon Rodimus, Cybertron Excellion (sp?), World's Smallest Transformers Rodimus (or the micromaster rodimus that came with the Star Convoy reissue).

I see you already got Classics Rodimus. Get SDCC Rodimus. I'm planning to get one myself.

I quite like the Mega SCF version. It's a non transforming version, but the most anime acurate Hot Rod/imus that you're likely to find. With all the swap out pieces you even get the option of displaying him with his visor down ala the Lookout Mountain scene in the movie or replacing his hand with the buzzsaw ala the Quintessa scene.

Energon Rodimus is also cool, a totally different take on the character. Armada Powerlinx Hotshot would fit into the homage category, but is something of an acquired taste. I'd take a good hard look at the galleries before jumping onto that one. The Supercharged recolour of RiD Sideburn also makes a passable Rod homage, but depending on your tastes you may well find the head design hideous.

Yup, here's my Roddy collection:

Image

Classics Rodimus, Energon Rodimus, TRU Rodimus Prime, Alt Rodimus, TRU Rodimus Major, Cybertron Excellion (with wing mod), WST Rodimus, Titanium Rodimus Prime

The only other one I might get in the future is the Micromaster Rodimus who comes with Star Convoy.

Does anybody else have a problem with the door/"wings" on Classics Rodimus being really loose and spinning around? It's like it doesn't want to stay upright. I have his arms more forward that the pics here because the shoulders will hold it in place.

Hmm? On Classics Rodimus the doors are on his legs. You must've meant one of the others.

The japanese name for the Armada and Energon Hot Shot is Hot Rod, and that's how I reference him around friends and such.

The Armada Mold defiantly isn't that great, but just pointing something else.

^ Some have also suggested the Red RiD Sideburn as an addition to a Rodimus collection. Personally I prefer the ones that are a direct homage to Hot Rod. And 1 version of each G1 figure is enough for me, so I don't need TFC.

Hmm, no I haven't seen that problem, mine seem fine. You could try disassembling the roof and adding a coat of clear nail polish or superglue. You could even shim it up with some paper or something like that.

Damn, lots of Rodimus fans here. lol

Most of my loser friends in real life hate him simply for the reason that, "he is not Optimus Prime." Total douches, I tell ya.

The only problem I have is that his hip joints are really loose. The slightest touch and he assumes the position. Kinda annoying but I haven't taken him apart yet to see if I can do the nail polish trick with him.

Well I can't show any pictures sadly, useless web cams, expensive digi cams and no interest in mobile phones, then all I can do is say what Hot Rod's and Hot Rod types I've got-

G1 Hot Rod, Hasbro reissue
Side Burn - Hot Rod style repaint
Armada Hot Shot - Hot Rod style repaint
Energon Rodimus(Prime)
Excellion - Just a very good Hot Rod style
Cybertron Legends Excellion
Classics Hot Rod
Titanium Rodimus Prime

I wouldn't mind getting Alt Hot Rod, WST Hot Rod, Micromaster Hot Rod and whatever others will appear in years to come. Though I prefer Smokescreen, but he doesn't get very many appearances when you think about it compared to Hot Rod/Hot Rod style, Prime and so on.
