Superglue for figures?

Postby Raymond101 » Tue Aug 07, 2007 8:04 pm

Is superglue an ideal way of tightening non-ball joints? I know the Automorph will screw up, as will the whole transformation, but it seems to be the only way to protect the figure. Also, the alt. mode isn't that great anyway whilst robot mode kicks ass.

You know my opinion on using superglue on figures already Raymond, but I think I should mention that you are thinking of superglueing Movie Ironhide's ankles, to stop them from further loosening.

No, don't use super glue. If you do, you've pooched the figure. Use clear nail polish. It creates more friction and doesn't destroy the figure.

Yer if you use super glue it won't fit in there anymore. And super glue is really thick. It might get your figures joint stuck as well.

He is willing to make the figure never transform again...

As Down_shift said, clear nail polish is the preferred alternative for joints, but as I mentioned to you in another thread, Im not sure how well clear nail polish would work on the gear teeth and whatnot in the automorph section.

I heard that clear nail polish works only on ball joints.

Alright than I guess if he doesn't want any more articulation or transformation go for it! But I would still prefer clear nail polish. In fact I prefer leaving it...

yeah, is it worth it to protect the figure but lose the transformation ability, or let it still be able to transform but it could break anytime someone handles it carelessly?

IMO, do not use super glue. You will regret it later.

Seriously, stay away from super glue, markers, detergent, bleach, spray paint and all the other half assed ideas people seem to be having here lately.

Try clear nail polish first. Start with a thin coat. Let it dry while working the joint periodically so it does not stiffen. Then repeat tillyou have it just right. It works wonders.

Good. If that doesn't work, post a pic of the problem. I'm sure someone here will come up with a better way to fix it than super glue which would essentially ruin the toy.

i_amtrunks has a point, clear nail poilish may gum up the automorph features. However, I would think you'd be fine with a very thin lair of it and let it dry for a few days at least before putting it back together.

Don't super glue any figure. You are going to mess them up and then regret it later.
