i guess.. good for those who want a rollbar. though i thought the focal point for the breakout battle set was EMOP.

Point One: I'm quite happy I bought AD-31 from Amazon yesterday.
Point Two: Any idea if this Rollbar is out yet? I don't have his mold and the Rollbar one is as good as any but it would fit my AoE Detolf area.

I think I'm glad I picked up a version of this guy on eBay. Sounds like it might be a few hoops to jump through to get the retail version, and probably cheaper too. It's a nice paintjob.

Hmmm.. Even with the retool they could have folded the backside into a back pack or engineered a better bot.. I am not a fan..

Well don't get me wrong, the video show casing the newer version from Takara Tomy is nice.. But once you have bought the DMK 03 (on order by me), it just doesn't add up.. Also, I have the Twin Blade prime movie figure, and it's engineering is pretty darn good, no buster rifle, but great work making it as close as it could be to the movie, with the engineering involved.. Out of the three releases of the AOE Prime, that Takara Tomy version is pretty nice, and the remolded parts and paint apps are great as well. I am just not a fan of that giant backpack, or the wings over the shoulders.. I just feel like there was more that could have been done to make it more closer to the actual CGI model.

But then again, it is only the third release.. There were a ton before they finally got as close as they have. I will wait to see what else comes out that may be what I am looking for in that particular figure.
Again, don't get me wrong, the new figure is pretty much as close as possible at this current time, and a great buy for those who do not mind the backpack..but for me.. it needs more work. I will have to point out the shame that the first releases sucked so bad to the Takara retooled version..

For me a Transformers MUST transform. Sure, that backpack of his is a great compromise to make, but it's one that I accept. For me, a TF that don't transform is pointless, no matter how good he look.
Heck, I bought my Hasbro Leader AoE Optimus at roughly 67$ taxes included at my local TrU. Sure, I overpaid but I found the good outweight the bad. However, that new AD-31 Optimus look so amazing (and transform) I had to buy him. I may put my Hasbro one in storage but I'll bever sell it for 2 reasons. First, it will never be worth it because I'll lose way too much money. Second, it's so different from AD-31 that it's worth keeping.
Like I said before, to make a transformable Optimus that is 100% perfect in vehicle mode and who is 100% the same from the CGI model would requite a new mold. Bigger and way more complex than the ROTF Leader OP one. Even then, I don't think it would ever be truly possible. Maybe if we figure out how to make transformium?

I don't disagree with your purchase, or the fact that there are limitations in making a Transformer toy, costs, engineering, etc.. But I asked myself a fundamental question as a collector.. How much time on my shelf does my figures remain in robot mode versus vehicle..
It turns out, about 96%..so My personal preference has now drifted towards being able to get a bot that looks perfect in robot mode, and in vehicle as well. Or just robot mode..Why not settle for both, or the 96%. that's just me..I like that figure of Optimus from AOE.. the newer version.. but I am going to hold off until I see maybe a future version that is made better.

I don't think you'll see this figure remolded again. They might do a new deco or something... but this is probably it.

Maybe, but history points towards another release..I mean, it is Optimus Prime as a Knight! A little boy's fantasy.. and My personal secret fanboy bucket list item..
I think there is a good chance another version may appear.. Not in leader necessarily.. but maybe Voyager.. or Ultimate class..

Ditto. This is a pretty cool figure. I like the mold well enough. Crosscut is still my favorite version of it.

Thanks to the @TF_pr Twitter account, we get a new image of the Hound figure included with upcoming Amazon Japan exclusive Age of Extinction Blu-Ray release. This image looks like a much darker green than the previous promotional image. This set is scheduled for release December 10.

Looks like this version of AoE Hound has a black beard now, just like all the Hasbro versions. I guess TakaraTomy decided that was the more screen accurate approach after all?

Video Review - Takara Tomy Movie Advanced AD31 Armor Knight Optimus Prime
- Motto: "Till All Are Pun!"
Our friend chuckdawg1999 brings us another review this week, and moving away from the simplified lines of Age of Extinction, treats us to a good look at the chromeful Takara Tomy Movie Advanced AD31 Armor Knight Optimus Prime! Check out the review and his thoughts below.
One of the last figures released in Japan for their Age of Extinction line Armor Knight Optimus Prime is fantastic retool/redeco of the Leader Class figure. The new parts, including a new head with face changing gimmick, sport a fantastic metallic paint job that just pops. If you've waited until now to buy an Optimus Prime figure this is the one to get.

Re: Takara Tomy Movieverse Products - Movie Advanced and Lost Age
Nice review, very detailed transformation explanation! I like this new Prime, the head sculpt and color apps are just right. I wish they could do something else with that backpack and get metallic weapons instead of those yellow ones, I am not 100% happy with it, besides seems to be the best AoE movie prime for now, I might go for it too.

Re: Takara Tomy AD-31
I got my AD-31 today! The paint job is fantastic! But I'm surprised that they left the rear set of tankers blue. And I guess the bottom steps under the doors. What's up with that?
I like that the cab is kind of almost in scale with Galvatron.
And all the small details like tiny Autobot symbols on the hubcaps.
AD-31 has got some back kibble on him! I knew that, but still, when you actually hold it in hand..
Heh, wish it were possible to shrink it down and store inside his back like in the movie. Too bad, he actually has a nice back underneath all the truck kibble.
Btw, any one else find it amusing that you can sheath the sword on the truck backpack as if it were his actual back?

But otherwise it's a good looking robot mode.
And I think the AoE head design is a huge improvement over the first 3 movies. Somehow it looks closer to the cartoon now.
I like how it pops out during transformation.

The ability to hold the sword with two hands is one of my favourite features about this figure. Not sure about the orange but I ordered another set of weapons for cheap (of the pre retooled mold) to paint silver.
