I'm kinda surprised I didn't really read this whole thing through. I like this kid. He got brains.

Am I babbling again?

haha, not babbling, again I appreciate the compliments. I am new to the seibertron boards, but no stranger to TF, 600+ bots G1 through to the movieline. (Didnt want you guys to think I was someone jumping onboard with the movie rush.)

I was born only two years before G1 made its start on the cartoon landscape. So I was totally immersed from the beginning

From this thread, I know Seibertron is going to be the addition of community I was hoping to add to my collecting.

now, that this topic seems to be wrapped up, I was curious about everyones thoughts on the pros and cons of the explosion of popularity TF has undergone post movie.

let me know if I should start a new thread or if we can just go on from here.

Seibertron is the TF world's example of "Quality Over Quantity" but the funny thing is, it handles quantity as well as the quality.

I'd say this is the only board I've been to (TF related...) that's truly fair and balanced.

No one side is more important or pushed upon people, than the other.

Openmindedness, generally kind people, etc.

People would be absolutely stupid to go to another board and waste their time. In fact, one of the other boards (and this was so pathetic) bitched about Ryan's photo galleries.

"OMG! Let's take thirty pics from the same angle!" I just wanted to slap the sh*t out of them. They just couldn't handle the fact that he's thorough and prefers quality, rather than cheap, quick pics.

If all the other boards just disappeared tomorrow...I'd not shed a single tear.

I'm relatively new here, and I agree with you totally. I find these forums members much more openminded.

I'm one of those people where the movie opened the world up TF up to me. I mean, I liked Beast Wars back in the day, but as an adult I can't remember a whole lot about it. But in the months leading up to the movie, I just became absolutely intrigued and started talking to people on RT about Transformers, and because I felt so stupid talking about something I knew nothing about, I did some research. Would you guys believe I watched Dr Smoov's Rude Awakening of Optimus Prime before any of the cartoons? I thought it was real til I heard the F word.

Anyway, I started to really enjoy the cartoons. I was like a sponge, soaking in everything. Then I got a comic or two, and the novels...then went nuts. I can't believe I went so long without being able to enjoy this. So you may get people invading your world, but some of us are the good guys. :D

I think most TF boards are terrible. This place has lightened up a little recently, but on other boards, if you hate, dislike, or have anything against the movie, you're torn into, and the moderators will do nothing to protect you, but ban you as soon as you get pushed overboard.

I can't stand fascism or any form. I strongly believe that you should be thankful for people coming to your forum, even if they argue a lot at least they're keeping some kind of stimulating discussion going, and that "My board, my rules" is simply the most ungrateful and arrogant thing you can say. Even if it's legally right, it's morally wrong. Whenever I point this out, people always just continue to push the legal right, which shows the degree of drone like behaviour that's been instilled in people online.

Fairness and logic shouldn't have an "off" button.

I'm just tired of some the horrible horrible trolls that drive people nuts but always get off the hook themselves.

On TFW2005, the worst is redsquadron.
On Allspark, it's Andrusi.

TFAns is just plain run by a mental patient and I'd stay away from it from an 11 foot pole ready to prod it away.

I want people to get on but that can never happen with the artificial means places like TFW2005 have of diffusing discussion. Keeping things bottled up, never being allowed to attack anyone for any reason, is an idiotic, overly simplistic way of keeping things quiet. Some people need to be "attacked" because they are the ones that are causing the trouble, either by pushing acceptance of the movie on people, purposely Strawmanising arguments, or just plain being disrespectful in a way that "bends" the rules so they don't get touched.
Humans are noisy, sometimes vicious creatures, but you can't just force them to change.

No argument there, I am all for new fans of the TF fiction, this is by no means 'my world' any more than it is yours. I am thrilled to know people are using the movie as a springboard to the entire TF universe. There really is something for almost everyone.

I really am disturbed by the increase in the scalpers market for TF though, seems like the movie has doubled or even tripled this phenomenon. Worst case of this is 08 BB who as a new toy, should not be garnering $40 on ebay.

Of course, in a month, you wont be able to go to any big store without tripping over 08 BB but the scalpers are making a fortune online right now listing them as rare and hard to find.

A shame that with the good attention comes the bad. The idea that some ebay jagoff is waiting at 10 am at the doors of a wal mart so he can buy up every BB or Arcee or whatever only to sell them back to fans at a ridiculous markup is incredibly aggravating

Dont forget the gobot fanatic Cliffjumper over at TFarchive who stated plainly to me that he gets off on running new forum members off the boards by being argumentative and aggravating.

This was his hobby "on slow sunday afternoons" if you can believe that crap.
A man with his priorities seriously out of whack, he tried for weeks to get a rise out of me until I started poking him back, suddenly the entire board seemed to come to his aid.

it was really bizarre. They are a close knit bunch of whining, moaning, hateful people over there.

If you think the scalpers are bad with the Bumblebees, wait till they get their hands on that Wal-Mart exclusive, American Starscream. There is probably going to be a huge market for him, especially outside of the U.S, and his price will be astronomical on E-bay. The store shelves will be dry as a bone.

Interestingly a thread I made in the movie forum disappeared without a trace.

I really disapprove of this practice. It's childish, if a thread gets out of hand then a mod should come in and try to calm things down. If all else fails, it should be locked, to serve as an example.

A thread should NEVER be deleted unless there are a lot of posts with very sensitive information in them.

It reeks of cover-up and leads me to believe that someone here mustn't be terribly good at their job.

For this, Seibertron mods, you get a massive fail for tackling this "Bitchfest" in the worst way possible.

Has it ever occurred to you that perhaps it was a copy of an existing thread? Or that it really did get so far out of hand that it was just easier to delete it?

Until you run a board of your own, please don't tell them how to do it. It's rude.

Have to agree, I think that refering to a thread deletion as a "cover-up" is a little megalomaniacal. TF message boards arent a 9-11 inquiry where the term "cover up" is valid.

Its probably overwhelming for a moderator to monitor the hundreds of members constantly posting.

Oh wah. The mods on this site are amongst the most fair and balanced mods on any message board bar none. It's not "Childish" or a "Cover-up", Mr Stack. It's what happens when someone makes a duplicate topic of another topic someone else has made. The Mods will often come in and calm things down, but they're not a freakin' riot squad. They did their job, deal with it. At least you didn't get banned, like you would on somewhere like GameFAQs, where the mods are a bunch of braindead idiots who mod anyone that's breathing wrong.

I got into a tiff with a few HP fans, b/c I said basically if you're gonna put negative posts about TF, post elsewhere. The supposed TF fans were turning their back on TF it seemed like. I don't care, I'm proud of TF and I will let you know. Now if I went on the HP forums and started talking trash, that would be a different story. TF G1 cartoons are very rich in story and had some of the best writing for 80s cartoons. I loved TF from the toys and cartoons. There was nothing like rushing home from school to be in time for TF. HP is cool in its own right and own genre. And who knows, if I grew up in the heyday of HP my opinion may be different, and I'd be a fan, but for now TF forever!!!

forgive me for asking, but what, exactly, was the general content of the thread you started?

i believe the mods wouldn't immediately delete a thread, no matter how common or mundane the topic, if it did not duplicate any existing thread or violated any of the forum rules set on this messageboard.
all the comments above are the HUMBLE OPINIONS of the said user only. 'nuff sed.

I'll get on it, and see if we can find out why it happened. The mods have been very good at keeping track of things they do, warnings they give, making sure things they do are okay, and they do make sure to PM explanations.

Like I said I will see if we can get you an explanation for your disgruntelment.

It was moved to another area.
And why was your thread moved? well let's see after looking through it (which we can do)...

After reading it AGAIN, The first thing I see you doing is breaking this rule (the bolded part).
1. No flaming, trolling, harassing, or baiting other guests.
Flaming should be self evident, trolling means to make posts or threads for the intended purpose of starting an argument, while baiting is any post intended to make another user resort to flaming. Harassment means following a user or group of users around through multiple threads to flame them, bait them, or otherwise cause them to want to avoid the boards because of a user's actions towards them. If there is a discussion and there ends up some sort of disagreement on someone's personal opinion, simply try and respect each others opinions without forcing them on others.

Your initial post was rather arrogant and set quite of people apart, (I had quite a few PM complaints about it and another mod ended up moving it while I was away) and the way you try to tell mods how to do their job around here is not needed. We do the best that we can to keep the peace around here. We can't just shut every thread down because opinions clash, we have to let some discussion take place. Now when the discussions get out of hand that is when we step in and do what is needed. Opinions are welcome but slamming others is not.
Respect is the key.
If we start locking threads and telling everyone not to express themselves then we get accused of becoming a "gestapo".

The staff does excellent work around here so cut them some slack.

Consider this your first warning.

And just a FYI, another reason the other thread was locked and moved is due to this rule being broken..

The Rules wrote:7. Do not make duplicate threads.
When you want to make a new thread, do a quick search using the 'search' button at the top of the page (if it is functioning). When searching for any given term, make sure to click on 'search for all terms', or you will get pages of unrelated posts. If there is already a thread on that subject, post to it instead of making a new thread. If multiple threads on the same subject are discovered, the odds are that one of them will be locked. If your post is locked please do not make duplicate threads of the same subject as it was locked for a reason.

I was informed that he started the thread after a prior thread was locked when it got out of control.

I look forward to attending a Botcon soon only to settle matters with several idiots in person (yes this is a threat).

there you have it - the mods have their reason on why your thread was moved. it all goes back to the rules.

anyway i have gone over some of your posts in the other threads, and they are... interesting. :-?

anyway, back on topic = i concur, this forum has a generally friendly atmosphere. UNLESS, someone starts trolling again...
all the comments above are the HUMBLE OPINIONS of the said user only. 'nuff sed.

looks like the verdict is in sparklight, noone is out to get you.

Maybe try and relax a little. Im pretty sure we all just want to talk about transformers, not debate a highly unlikely moderator sponsored cover up of whatever you were saying that got people riled up enough to pm the site admin.

Exactly, there is no witch hunt going on for anyone.
And I am going to say again Opinions are welcome, shoving them down others throats and disrespecting is not.

The rules are there, please read them and any future troubles can be avoided! :D
Not a sheeple.
Think for yourself, don't let the magic TV box and social media do the thinking for you.
