TFA Decepticons

Postby Sidewaysx79 » Wed Aug 12, 2009 1:40 am

Whos your favorite Decepticon from TFA? (note: this isnt going to be a voting thread. Just voice your opinion)

Im going with Megatron, because hes powerful, looks awesome and doesnt act like an idiot like he does in some other series. I also like Lugnut, just because hes weird and a little unique, same with Blitzwing.

I don't think Lugnut is really that unique. He kinda reminds me of BW Inferno only not as funny.

As for the rest I would have to agree that Animated Megatron is one of my favorites. Really I only have 2 favorite Megatron's him and BW but it's a toss up between who I like more.

Other than the obvious choise I have to say I love Blitzwing! Even though I hate the designs of the characters on the show Blitzwing and Wreck-Gar are really the only characters I liked enough to overlook their designs and buy their toys. That's kind of an odd thing to say sence the personality of the character really has nothing to do with toys that just sit on a shelf and do nothing. Normally people by toys for the design but I bought them hateing their designs just because I like their characters on the show.

But yeah Megatron was the only one I liked the design of in the entire series. Well him and Samurai Prowl but Prowl I didn't like him enough to spend the money on his toy allthough I considered it several times.

For an active character, my favourite would have to be Megatron. TFA Megatron is a welcome deviation from the Megatrons, which generally are motivated to acquire a powerful weapon to "rule the universe", which is a open and impractical goal. TFA Megatron just wishes to take control of Cybertron.

He is an intelligent and cunning leader, ruthless and shrewd. He's a 'Con with a plan, he isn't like G1 Megatron with seemingly random raids for this or that or some cheesy scheme for power acquisition. TFA Megatron has an attainable goal and tries to achieve it in an organized manner. He also is smart enough to see an opportunity to take advantage of such as his use of the Constructicons.

Corey Burton's voice acting combined with the good scripting of the show in general made the character so memorable for me.

Now that's my 2 cents on my pick for an "active" Decepticon. For a less seen character who I really like for pure coolness in design and interesting background, I'd have to say I really like Oil Slick. The fiction written for the character in other outlets like the TFA comic is pretty cool and fills in the background of the character. Heck, he's a vehicle-to-vehicle combat expert, proficient in Circuit-Su, and a mad scientist. How cool is that? I wish the series continued to allow the character more screen time.

Lockdown isn't technically a Decepticon but if he was, I'd have to say I'd choose him over Megatron, who I would place in a category of his own for simply favourite Transformers head villain. Like Oil Slick, I love Lockdown's design, robot and alt mode. Lance Henrikson's performance just oozes a gritty mercenary coolness. He isn't out to get people for any sort of ideological cause. He's all pro, just a business man, making a living at the expense of unfortunates with bounties on their heads.

Well that's not entirely true. He doesn't consider himself to be a Decepticon in that he doesn't belive in Megatron's cause. But he does still work for the Decepticons for his own reasons (upgrades he gets from them are better than Autobots can offer) and the Autobots in the series still refer to him as a Decepticon.

Swindle is just the same. He is not one of Megatron's soilders, he's an arms dealer. The guy would probly be willing to sell weapons to the Autobots if they offered him a good price. So he is still a Decepticon.

Technically Waspinator has never met Megatron but still wears a Decepticon brand.

Anyone who deals with a Decepticon regardless of weather or not they were actully under Megatron's command were seen as Decepticons in the series.

It really just depends on if you're looking at the Autobots' definition of who the Decepticons are or the Decepticons definition of who they are.

Lockdown, one of the best alt mode and robot mode in the cartoon, also one of the only figure that I bought all versions of for the sake of customizing it.

This'll show where *my* priorities lie, but I've gotta say Lugnut. He's big, painfully loyal, and not very bright. He's like a big violent puppy dog. And he puts up with Blitzwing without smacking him stupid. The best straight-man in the series.

HK, HA! Bet y'all thought I was going to say Starscream.

Lugnut is cool. You have to respect his loyalty.

Lugnut: I will not hide. I will stand proudly and shout Megatron's name to the heavens!

You have to respect The POKE too.

I definatly think Lugnut is by far the most powerfull Decepticon. Who elce can blow up a huge crator in the ground while standing in the middle of the exsplosion and come out with out a scratch on himself.

As a character I don't think I'd call him the straight man. Between him and Blitzwing yeah he would have to be but Lugnut is fairly funny on his own. Like I said before, he reminds me of BW Inferno but less funny.

BW Inferno get's extra funny points for calling Megatron his "Queen". Lugnut's loyalty to his Megatron was along the same exadgerated levels but without the Ant colony refrences.

Yes, I could see that. He *is* hilarious, but the humor of his I prefer involves other people and their reactions. Like when he's the only one who can hear Megatron's voice. Or in Season Three when the Autobots can't manage to haul him up out of the crater. Maybe 'straight man' isn't the word I really meant. (she says, carefully trying to avoid getting on RV's infamous bad side).

Oh, absolutely. BW Inferno is *the best*. The only one who even comes close is BW Megsy himself, but even then, Inferno takes it by a mile.

I'm not sure who I'd pick if I had to choose between TFA Lugnut and BW Inferno, though. Hrm.

In that respect yeah he would be the straight man. I was thinking more about his "glorious Megatron" lines that make him the over the top loyalist like Inferno. It's not as funny as simply calling him Queen but it is still preddy damn funny.

BM Megatron is kind of an odd ball. He's funny because of his infamous "Yeesss" and rubber ducky but despite that still manages to be the only Megatron to actully take over Cybertron. Even Animated Megatron with all of his cunning was not able to accoplish this which is who the two kinda tie as the best Megatron's.

And now I'm off to bed... I hope...

blitzwing was great, and the starscream clones had their moments.

i didnt care for megatron too much (for once), and soundwave was close, but lacking imho.

now i do gotta give lugz his credit he has the "Punch of Kill Everything. you gotta admit that is pretty freakin awesome. and the lugnut supremes.

I'ma have to go with Blackarachnia, mainly 'cause I can't resist a femme with a dark side ;)

Seriously though, while she didn't have as much depth or reason to her as her Beast Wars namesake (who I much prefer), I loved her attitude to factions. She wasn't a Decepticon to see Megatron obtain control of Cybertron, or to cause as much havoc as possible, she just couldn't be with the Autobots any more and the 'cons were only slightly better.
She was able to keep up with Prime in a fight, and could get away quickly when given the lesser ground. It helps of course that her toy is actually quite good too.
The only thing that could have made her better in my opinion is having Terzo voice her, or by making "Elita one" a bit less rubbish.

I liked Shockwave. Even when he first appeared as Longarm we all knew exaclty who he was. I thought the character was dead on. The voice and the character model were great and his role in the show was played out perfectly.

The Split Personalities is what MADE Blitzwing for me. Mainly his random crazy face.

I liked Shockwave. Even when he first appeared as Longarm we all knew exaclty who he was. I thought the character was dead on. The voice and the character model were great and his role in the show was played out perfectly.

You mean VOICES, it was the same voice actor from G1 which is why his voice was "dead on" but Longarm spoke with a slightly different accent than Shockwave did probly because Cory Burton was trying to portray the character as disguising his voice rather than trying to sound like a completly different character which worked out preddy damn well.

It's difficult to exsplain the difference between a voice actor useing a different voice for a character and a character useing a different voice for a disguise. The basic gist is if done the right way you get 2 voices for a single character, if done the wrong way you get 2 voices for 2 characters.

I guess I could use Blitzwing as an example. Cory Burton's different voices for Longarm and Shockwave made it seem as though Shockwave was doing Longarm's voice as a disguise rather than Cory doing a completly different character. Blitzwing on the other hand, love the character but the voice actor had 3 entirly different voices for 1 character and it just seemed like each Blitzwing personality was it's own character rather than all the same character which being a skitso really isn't a bad thing but if the same sort of thing was done with Longarm and Shockwave it would of been horrible.

Anyway, all that being said, just pointing out again in case it got lost in that mess of me verry badly trying to exsplain things, the reason the character sounded so dead on as you put it is because it's the same voice actor who did the original version of the character.

There's only been 1 Shockwave in any US Transformers series unless you want to count the guy from Energon as Shockwave sence he does look like him but his name was Shock Blast. So if you could him, there's 2.

As far as character goes, I really liked Shockwave.

I have to say shockwave was my favourite, as previously said his character was spot on from G1 I even think it's the same guy voicing him! :) I really liked his character, but I also enjoyed Inferno's eccentricities with Megatron down as my third favourite. I haven't seen too many episodes as of yet but this version of Megatron does seem to have a more commanding, sinister presence about him.

Shockwave is very cool in TFA. It's such a cool thing to have the Decepticons be so competent for once. I mean, Shockwave became the head of the Cybertron Intelligence division and nearly allowed the Decepticons to claim victory.
