Rated X wrote:The best tank mode ever is ANY tank that is not a neutered Megatron.
My personal favorite is Movieverse Legends/Legions Guzzle because they really captured the WWII vibe.
TurboMMaster wrote:Transformers franchise is already 25-years + old, with multiple generations to pick. So i quess that there is enough Tank modes to pick are favorite ones. After all, what is more epic that Giant Robot transforming into giant tank? What's you favorite Tank-modes in the franchise?
1. ROTF Megatron- despite pretty much everything in ROTF was terrible, it's hard to deny that Megatron's Tank Mode was cool. It is big, alien looking and heavy armored machine of destruction witch can fly! It is really hard to top that
2. Beast Wars Rampage - I quess that his vechicale mode qualify, right? I mean, his tank mode is kinda akward, but so is he. Also I think it feets his personality perfectly.
3. Armada Megatron - It is kinda silly that Aramda was first series where Megatron had a proper vechicale mode (Transmetal Megatron is fo me still a flying T-Rex). But his Tank mode really screem "I'm the boss!", also for Tank Standards he is enormous and he have a decent firepower (sadly, it was rarely used in show)
Honorable Mentions are both Brawl's (G1 and Bayverse) and Prime Shockwave.
So how about you?

Yes, he has working threads. The last toy to have that was beast wars rampage.

Actually, Armada Scavenger (and his redeco, Energon Treadbolt) had them too.

It made sense because they weren't creating Transformers from scratch, they were repurposing existing Japanese toys for the line, and they had a transforming gun but not a transforming tank (at the time). Realistic toy guns were still popular (and legal) in America at the time, most kids had either a cap gun or a water gun or something like that, no orange neon dayglo stuff, it made all the sense in the world. How were they to foresee that someday people would get all reactionary about gun stuff and make it so that the character would need a new alt mode?
Delta Magnus wrote:I think more to the point it never made sense fictionally. Quite aside from the mass-shifting (which is dumb as hell) you end up with the leader of the Decepticons, a nigh-on invincible tyrant who fights from the front lines...turning into something that requires one of his lackeys to hold for it to be any use. It can't move on its own and it's of no use without someone to hold it. It's like if Darth Vader turned into his own lightsaber for a stormtrooper to wield. It's stupid as all hell. If it was one of his minions turning into a gun for him to wield, maybe, but for the leader of the Decepticons to adopt such a useless alt mode...nah.
