I have to agree with him, yes, it packs a punch, but it left a bad after taste. Night I saw it, best thing ever, let it sit, dispised it and started canceling laybuys of movie toys while buying more G1 and saving for the next series, which this time, looks f***ing excellent and am already getting shelving for the new classics. I was all for the movie, including designs, seeing it and letting it sit, made me have the same opinion as this fellow. I can watch the "Toy Commercial" from 86 once a week, and I was born in 88, with G2/Beast Wars being my intro to TF.Altertron wrote:just watched the episode airing tonight, i can't believe the guest critic gave a thumbs down to transformers whereas roeper gave it a thumbs up. the fruity guy claimed it was long, boring, loud, and stupid. he also dislikes director bay uses african americans as stereotypes, that they're always got chase or pursuited by cops, blah, blah. however the fruit gave hairstray and harry potter a huge thumbs up. this guy must be very sentimental, because the movies he enjoys the most are girly stuff. anyway he ain't right by giving transformers a thumbs down!!!!!!!!

I just finished watching it, and while I can agree with some of the points the guest reviewer brings up, I also think he misses the point by a wide margin. "Transformers" isn't the sort of movie you go into and expect to see anything even remotely resembling an Academy Award/Oscar worthy film. It's a popcorn flick pure and simple, and you have two choices when watching it: turn your brain off and just enjoy it for what it is (as Roeper himself said) or nitpick the hell out of it and make it out to be something it isn't.
wingdarkness wrote:Forgive me but everywhere I go on the internet to talk about my disapointment with this movie people continually give this exact same argument and to be honest it's kinda frustrating...When a TF fan (or even random critic)say they want some good story or some decent logic in this film, WE ARE NOT SAYING IT NEEDS TO BE SOME OSCAR WORTHY PLOT...I do not understand for the life of me how people jump to Oscar-worthy plot outta someone asking for the plot to simply MAKE SENSE... Like the reviewer said the movie just didn't MAKE SENSE in alot of areas concearning the plot..I turned my brain-off and still caught endless plotholes...You don't have to be a fan of anything Transformers to see the gaping plot-holes or just plain non-sensical aspects in this movie...Roeper as said, CHOSE to not be a critic when he watched it because he has no respect for TF's beyond that of being a silly toy movie...He really had no comeback arguments because he doesn't even veiw TF as worthy of having any seriousness involved...

Darth Bombshell wrote:Besides, any film that can make over three hundred million dollars in two weeks can't be all that bad, can it?
