Lord Starscream20 wrote:I'm inclined to agree with the posters ahead of me. The Empire would win by sheer size and experience at crushing opposition. However, they'd take some pretty good hits along the way.
Republic Commandos and ARCs were more or less made nonexistant at the Empire's heyday, and It'd be easy for a team od RCs to take out a few Star Destroyers. Plus, I'd say that the Jedi could probably take down the Death Stars (Luke did it, right? He wasn't even trained).
Irregardless, the Empire takes it. But it'd be an awesome fight.

The Old Republic has... Victory Star Destroyers and support from the Jedi ONLY if they feel like it.

The Empire may have had all that but their engineer's werent so bright.......desiging something so big with a eazy to hit target that would destory it with one single shot

I chalk it all up to bad writing. I'm lookin' at you, Mr. Lucas.
Poor Stormtroopers... crack shots of the Empire indeed... only when they're offscreen. When they're on camera they get nervous and can't hit anything. =(

Anyway the deathstar wasn't "easy" to destroy. If Luke hadn't been there, and he wasn't known to exist even to his own father, it would have been a great failure for the rebellion and the empire would have protected that weakness by any mean possible. The rebellion wouldn't have been just a little bump in the Empire's history of conquest. Remember that many of the rebellion's best pilots died during the battle of Yavin IV. Han wouldn't have joined, neither would have Lando. In fact many other spieces would have prefered to remain low profiled instead of joining the rebellion.

I would say that the Death star was still eazy to destroy because it was designed when there were still plenty of Jedi's around.Even Vader was still a Jedi at the time. They should have knowen that a well trained Jedi could find and hit that week spot so they should have designed it better.

Yeah, but if you had to design a battle station the size of the moon, I'm sure you'd make a few mistakes too.
Anyways, Empire wins. An Empire will almost always beat out a Republic when it comes to war (Notable exceptions not withstanding)

Actually, most places sight it as about the size of a 3-D Ireland.

Soldiers: According to Labyrinth of Evil, the clone army at its peak was only 1,2 million soldiers. The Empire had enlisted a lot more stormtroopers.
Weapons: 20 years of technical evolution. Super Star Destroyers (and a few even bigger ones). Even without the Death Stars, the Empire could crush the OR Army easily.
The size of the Grand Army seems to be vastly smaller than what would be necessary to fight a war involving hundreds of thousands of planets - most conservative estimates[citation needed] of the Galactic Republic and its successor state, the Galactic Empire, at more than a million worlds; meaning that each planet would have less than two Clonetroopers to defend it. Additionally, a number of nations on Earth during the 20th Century had militaries with significantly greater numbers of soldiers -- Nazi Germany, the People's Republic of China, and the Soviet Union are examples. This, combined with the fact that the Confederacy of Independent Systems could create hundreds of thousands or millions of droids in a single day, has led to speculation that the 1.2 million "units" referenced to in Attack of the Clones referred to either the number of soldiers created at the facility Obi-Wan visited, or the term "unit" means a military unit consisting of many individual soldiers. However, one must remember that these clones were of a single man who may very well have been, other than the Jedi, the deadliest man in the galaxy. In addition, in Episode 2, when Obi-Wan visits Kamino, the prime minister tells him "you will find they are vastly superior to droids", meaning that one of these soldiers could potentially take on multiple battle droids and come out on top. However, this number is easily misinterpreted as being the only clone troopers created; there is no reason that the Kaminoans would not easily produce more Clones as demands came in to replace battlefield losses. The 1.2 million units only represents the first "batch" delivered to the Republic.
