The Great Transformers Drought of 2007 ending?

Postby Scaleface » Tue Sep 25, 2007 8:57 pm

The Great Transformers Drought of 2007 may be coming to an end. My local Targets got in the latest scouts and my local Walmarts got all current waves of Deluxes and Voyagers in stock in spades (shelves are overflowing) as well as the lastest wave of Fast Action Battlers (Concept Bumblebee, Barricade, Frenzy and Blackout).

I picked up Air Raid, Armorhide, Deluxe Arcee, Dropkick, Bonecrusher and Voyager Ironhide. I wasn't going to pick up anything over a Deluxe from the movie line, but I need an Ironhide to make my own Classic Trailbreaker with reprolabels. I also have an extra Cybertron Longrack I plan to put a reprolabel Maximal symbol on to make him into Timelines Longrack (the pre-Beast Wars Neo Maximal).

Weapon: Sword
I'm tempted to pick up another Ironhide to update it to that Reprolabels Trailbreaker too. It is too bad the figure is too big for the Classics line (bigger than Prime) and too small for Alternators.

Theres been a Transformer drought for the last 4-5 months and it doesn't look like easing up until early 2008. Until they we have to put up with these ugly Bayformers cluttering up the shelves.

you always seem to have something nasty to say about the new film or the toy line. It's getting to the point where I know as soon as I see that SkyWarp sig I know I'm gonna be reading something negative.

Drought's still going on here in SoCal. We're seeing a better variation of Scouts and Voyagers, but I've yet to see a big shipment of Deluxes hit any of our stores here.

Walmart's the worst offender actually; I haven't seen a new Deluxe at one of the four Walmarts near me in well over a month.

ummmm..i hope this isnt a dumb question...but...

people said that concept bumblebee would eventually ship more, and that there would be an abundace, or at least enough to go around. It's quickly becoming clear that that will probab ybe the case.

but will the earlier waves still ship? or am i looking for an original black barricade in vain? seems like all the new shipments are just the new waves.

Scout? Voyagers? Deluxes? We don't have things like that where I live. We have Cyber Slammers and those arm gun things. You must live in a land of pure happiness!

So TF toys come in waves and if you miss the wave you're screwed? Like the guy was saying about Barricade.

That sucks. Now I understand a little more why people get mad when someone goes to the store and buys 15 bumblebees. or 3 copies of a figure they don't even like. One to keep MISB and one for robot mode and another for alt mode.

it gets to a point where it's so predictable it's almost bad comedy. I understand some people don't like it, there's TF series I'm not thrilled with. But that's why I don't go into those threads or comment on them since I wouldn't have anything good to say.

If you don't like the movie or the toys then why comment on them at all? Everyone knows by now. Even the n00bs like myself see it daily. But this is the one place I can go to to talk about TF's, research old lines and series, etc. Just sucks when you're constantly tripping over "Michael Bay sucks" or "the movie toys suck." There's millions of people who think differently.

Seems like people would be glad to see thier favorite franchise doing so well.

Maybe in another year or so they're will be fan sites and boards of just the movie. That'd be kinda cool. It can get hard to find info sometimes digging through all the negative crap.

In not being nasty I'm just saying I'm suffering a drought of Tranasformers figures worth buying. Its sort of a water, water every where but not a drop to drink, sort of situation. I'm looking forward to TFA and maybe Classics 2.0 next year to end this 'flood water drought'.

I have 5 Concept BB's. If all else fails .. I can sell you 1 or 2 for cost.

There's Leader Primes all over in Jersey where I work as well. Try Marlton Walmart ... they are always up on their stock.

I am not very fond of the movie designs either. Still, I love ANY Legends, and this Trailbreaker conversion from Ironhide has me interested. Plus the Target redecos are nice. The black redeco of Armorhide is so slick looking.

I even picked up the G1 redeco Jazz and added it to me Classics shelf. The real Transformers (Universe) are coming.

I hope the drought is ending and I hope that all the stores are stuffed with tons of overstock. I want to get the entire movie line if I can. Deluxes, Voyagers and Leaders.

I fear that some of the older waves will not be as available as they were in July. Only time will tell though. For them to fully stock all waves ... everywhere. That just seems impossible.

Having 2 of every transforming toy available to the US ... I'm all caught up on the movie line.(with the exception of UBB, waiting for clearance prices) Even I feel as if it's going to be tough to get it all after everything's said and done with this line. They are releasing a ridiculous amount of stuff for only having a minimal amount of characters in the movie.

The battle scene thing pisses me off. Having to buy another UBB for MISB pisses me off. They are really raking in the dough with this stuff for sure. I think I'm going to have to invent my own definition for "completionist" for the line.

I got to say I'm doing pretty well on the movie line. I've got all of the robots from the movies with the exception of Megatron for whom I just can't seem to get into. Over all, I've been rather impressed with the movie line; my only real complaints would be with '74 Camaro BB and Deluxe Brawl, but that problem has since been remedied with the release of Concept BB and Leader Brawl. I did spend a grip of money on Ultimate Bumblebee and if I knew how rad Concept BB was going to be, I might not have made that decision; don't get me wrong, Ultimate BB is cool, just not $79 cool.

Things here in the Atlanta area seem to be getting slowly better. Still not many deluxe figures-they seem to be suffering the worst of all the movie toys.

I've got to admit, once I get a movie Barricade (and even he's optional for me), I'm probably going to put the movie line behind me. I do like NW Leader Prime and DC Leader Brawl but I'm just over the "hunt" for any more figures. I'm tired of the empty shelves, complaints of QC problems, and the general debate of which figures are good or bad (yeah, I've participated too). The movie was fun, the search for figures was interesting, and I've enjoyed the discussions about them online, but with nothing but repaints to look forward to at this point, I'm ready to move on.

I'm with AK-bring on the new material. Let's start with MP Animated SS!

Indeed. Im glad people got enjoyment out of the movie line but, my dislike of the film aside, it was a really odd line that barly resembled any Transformers line of the last 23 years. This was mostly due to the designs and the fact it was based around film with less than 15 TF characters in it, but it was also due to it being broken up into so many sub-lines, FAB, Legends, Robot Replica, Real Gear etc..etc, it just felt so disjointed. I'm just looking forward to seeing some REAL Transformers toy lines back on the shelves again.

I agree partially, AK, but in order to not upset others on the board, Maybe instead say "traditional" designs vs movie designs. That should be benign enough to prevent tempers from flaring. The number of characters is really not that big of an issue, seeing as they are using figsfrom the game as well. I live in hudson county, and my local walmart and Kohls (:P ) just stocked up pretty good, but around here, it flies off the shelves.

I have a confession.
I must have been the first person to see my local walmart re-stock.

I bought all of the bumblebees.
I confess!!!!
I have sinned, oh lawd! Please forgive me! the temptation was too much!

Hello friend. It seems any thread that you participate in, you always throw in your valid input and opinion (which is great), but then you ruin it by slamming the movie or toys. Doesn't really matter what the topic is.

Ie "ugly bayformers". Here's an idea, leave those parts out. We get it, the "God of Transformers" doesn't like Bay and his Bots. And as already posted, it's getting a little old.

edit: i forgot to stay on topic.

Since i have all the movie stuff i wanted (most of the figs, posters, etc) i am not looking forward to being flooded with them as it was so hard to find them in the first place. It's sort of a kick in the a$$!

So yes, let's get the movie stuff out and bring out Animated! HOOAH!

While I myself quite liked the movie designs on paper (not so much on film), I do agree with AK that the movie toy line felt frightfully disjointed. It seemed there were far too many sub-lines on the shelves and not enough stock of the core figures.

I would have much preferred Hasbro to have concentrated on getting out the core line rather than licensing a plethora of different versions of each character. The June 2nd release was pathetic (only two voyagers and two protoform deluxes!) supplies since have hardly been in abundance.

I'd like the movie line a whole lot more if they were more movie-accurate. It seems like every movie car is a turtle - the car exterior over the top of the meaty transformer goodness in the middle under the shell. Turn any deluxe car (Jazz, either BB, Barricade, etc) upside-down in alt mode and you'll see what I mean.

Isn't that the way most Tformer toys are though? We can't expect Hasbro to make truly accurate movie toys-that would be a little too complex and cost prohibitive. Turn most G1 or Alternator cars over and you get the same thing. We're talking toys for 5 and up, not movie accurate collector props.
